    Help with Laptop Spec

A GTX675M, 8GB of ram and the latest of the mobile i7 range? It will last him quite a while. Yes, as with all laptops, it lacks expandability in the CPU, GPU and Mainboard departments, but as a long term (2 - 3 year) mobile gaming rig, that thing will do just fine.

    Help with Laptop Spec

Disregard the words of the naysayers, that's a very powerful laptop and you won't have any problems running ArmA 2, and inherently, DayZ. If you find that the game is performing poorly at any stage, it's most likely a sign that the server that you are connected to is in desperate need of a reboot. Best of luck!

    Advice on specs (Not troubleshooting)

Hi Velocity, Your system looks fine and you should be able to run the game smoothly. I suspect that your problems may stem from the servers that you are playing on, not the capabilities of your system. I'd recommend giving this post a read, as it should explain the issue in greater depth: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/40093-anybody-i-whizz-with-computers-help-on-graphics-card/#entry381618

    $600 Budget Build

Not bad, though how about the graphics card? Integrated Intel HD Graphics won't cut it.

What Ray said. Could you provide a public link please? Edit: Frost ninja'd me there! :P

Some problems with DayZ, any help?

If your performance is crappy when you attempt to run vanilla ArmA 2: OA (without DayZ), then I'm afraid that I can't offer you any advice (aside from perhaps updating your graphics drivers). If, however, OA runs well on it's own, and the performance problems are specific to DayZ, then I suggest that you give this previous post a read: http://dayzmod.com/f...rd/#entry381618 Hope it helps.
  7. Good things come to those who wait it seems! The new ArmA 2 beta patch works wonders for the performance of DayZ. Previously, performance of DayZ has lingured between 20-40 frames per second on my system (duel 1GB HD4870s CFX, Q9550) with AA & post-processing disabled. With the new patch installed both server-side and client-side, these numbers rose to 80-100 frames per second. With AA & post-processing disabled, all others: Very High. There seems to be a mild HDR lighting bug while observing the world through a rifle scope, though on the whole, this is certainly a very welcome update. Thanks go out to the folks at Bohemia Interactive!
  8. Just noting here, we've decided to operate the server with a max of 50 players for now. We'll be rebooting it once daily to compensate for the depreciating client-side performance associated with server up-time. Cheers!
  9. As bob implied, it should run the game very competently.
  10. Note that server up-time still plays a large hand in client performance. As such, Tiggy and I usually reboot US 26 daily to maximize performance client-side. That said, the patch has still provided a significant performance boost on several systems that I use & have tested the patch with thus far. The graphics hardware of these systems includes.. 512MB HD4850, 1GB HD5770, 1.5GB GTX460M, 1.5GB GTX460, and the aforementioned CFX 1GB HD4870s. Presumably, other systems shall also see an improvement, BUT it is important to note that the single largest contributor to poor client performance, is long server up-time, so I highly recommend that server operators re-launch the server client frequently. EDIT: Also! Check this out too. I haven't tested it myself (yet) but others seem to be getting some pretty awesome results: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/36688-maximize-frame-rate-on-dayz-and-arma2-low-frames-fix/#entry348601

    CryEngine 3 - Possible?

I suspect that carrying development over to Real Virtuality 4 (alongside the release of ArmA 3) would be a priority. So development on a better engine is inevitable, perhaps not with CryEngine 3, however. :)
  12. Excuse me.. I have three tower systems in this house and one of those systems is sporting a 512MB HD4850.. Guess what?? it plays DayZ beautifully (30fps average). For $400, I wouldn't be complaining mate.

    CryEngine 3 - Possible?

Perhaps people don't realize how much content DayZ borrows from the existing ArmA 2 libraries. One does not simply conjure up DayZ on CryEngine 3!

  15. That was an eyesore to read. x.x And yes, Scrap that graphics card. It's entry level 2008-era ancient junk. As Jorden said, 5770 or better. Buying this thing second hand I gather?
