Yes and sometimes to increase disk performance people turn it offbut dayz apparently doesnt like that lol so try turning it to system managed as that eliminated the last glitch ive had since using dayzcommander to reinstall the game and mod.

There should be a sticky guide for glitch fixes. I had this very same problem and other glitches. I downloaded dayzcommander(had been using six) reinstall arma and dayz using it to the newest version and that got rid of all but 1 glitch. The dreaded flashing receiving glitch. That I fixed by changing my paging file/virtual memory from none to system managed. Open a folder on the left side right click on computer and select properties, then advanced system settings(it should open to the advanced tab) then click performance then advanced then under virtual memory click change. Pick system managed click ok then restart computer. Should work fine. ps: can also install other maps for dayz which is nice but cant on six i dont think?

Are you running dayz with dayzcommander? And do you have paging file/virtual memory set to system managed?

Ignore the person saying sneaking has no purpose. If you crouch/prone you can get by zombies pretty damn close(depending on the terrain) or at the very least avoid drawing them even in the open. Also when being chased running up hills(if its steep enough you cant run up it) is a good way to eventually lose them or slow them enough that theyre easy to kill as they are much slower going up a hill. Yes often it will be junk items or possibly a players already been there and looted the good stuff. Keep trying and dont give up hope. Also when moving between places try to move in the woods as youll be harder to see and usually there are no zombies there.

Umm have you been playing private servers or public servers? Items only save from server to server if it's a public server.
