The people that stick to official servers think every community server is modded into easy mode with 5x loot, traders and everything handed to them. They don't understand that there are vanilla community servers too. When I get a new game that has dedicated servers, I usually look for community servers to play on.

I believe they've set 1PP servers to the darker night and 3PP server to the brighter night. Community servers can set this any way they wish.

My server is also vanilla. No mods at all. I did give new spawns a stone knife, plus I upped the zombie spawns a little but that's all I've done. No changes at all to the loot and I have all players from China and Russia blocked.

Check for dust in your computer. A dusty CPU/GPU will cause that.

Report it on the feedback tracker, but you're really just spinning your tires. BI isn't going to do anything. Their answer was that cheaters get banned in groups and that these people using cheats will get theirs all at once.

The vanilla launcher is still new and does not always show the mods properly. It also shows server side mods as required for the client. Give it time to be developed. In the mean time, use DZSALauncher.

My Chernarus server is 100% vanilla but it is a low population server. I do have a Livonia server with mods, but the settings of that server is to make things harder on a player. No traders ever!

Official servers have no admins. BI doesn't run the servers. They rely on their antihack to catch cheaters but it doesn't work. That is the experience you'll get on official servers. On my servers, I've blocked all Russian and Chinese players because they make up the majority of cheaters.

Don't bother reporting cheaters on offical servers. There are no admins and BI doesn't manage them. -
The server browser is in its first iteration. It's not working perfectly with mod servers so stick with DZSALauncher until it's ready.

It's possible because official servers have no admins. On my servers, I've blocked Russian and Chinese players.

Official servers have no admins so you have to accept it or play on a community server. There's vanilla community servers out there. On my servers, I've got all players from Russia and China blocked for that very reason - most cheaters are from those countries.

It depends on the experience you want from the game and I disagree with them only looking at official servers. When I play a new survival type game with a server browser and official/community servers, I frequently look for community servers, especially those with lower population so I can learn the game without dieing right away from other players. Different strokes for different folks. -

If all you're looking for in a vanilla server is high population, you're going to wait in a queue. Not everyone wants to bump into other players every 50 meters. Some players actually enjoy playing without the constant PVP seen on high population servers. -
Window boarding... another things that modders brought to the game but for some reason BI can't seem to do it...

I've had a good number of "Survivor" players on my vanilla server today. I'd venture a guess that many of them are players trying out DayZ for the first time.
