Run DayZ Server without the need of the DayZ Client
Uncle Zed replied to MaxTheSurvivor's topic in Servers
Yeah, you don't need the DayZ SA client to be on the server. I rent a VPS and I just installed the DayZ SA server onto the VPS. No client required. -
Do you want to use DZSALauncher as a player or as a server administrator?

Do you see the player UI (food/thirst/etc)? -
Whats the best way to join custom servers?

Add an exception to your antivirus to let dzsalauncher run! -
Maybe you don't have a server key on the server? There's something different between the mod on your server and the mod on your client. Using equalModRequired works fine for me on my server. Make sure the addons folder for your mod only have the pbo and bisign files. Don't have any folders in there with the extracted mod.
-
That means that the version of the mod on the server is different from the version of the mod on the client.
-
Add equalModRequired = 1; to your server's config file.

BI is Making it Harder to be an Admin...Why?
Uncle Zed replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Yes. It's well worth the cost. -
Are you using the graceful shutdown that BI explained needs to be done to properly shut down a server?
-
I was having this and it turned out my CPU was overheating. A can-o-air fixed it and the lag went away.

Here's what it looks like at 1:30am on my server.

BI is Making it Harder to be an Admin...Why?
Uncle Zed replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
With Battlemetrics, I can click on a players name that is in game, or search for a player that was on my server. I get their IP address, Battleye GUID, Steam ID, other names they've used, log in/out history, if they have any VAC or Steam game bans and a link to their Steam profile... I don't have a steak in the company, but I use their services. It's great. https://www.battlemetrics.com/subscription/rcon -
The persistence issue is due to servers not being shut down properly or due to crashes. My server's low pop, but I've got one group that's had a base for a few weeks now.

Umm.. much of this already exists. It's called the game Scum. -

Battlemetrics - it'll solve your issues http://battlemetrics.com -
On my server I run the Arctic Latitudes mod with the date set to 5/5/19. The results are a twighlight effect for the night hours. It's never pitch black and the acceleration lets 24 hours to pass in one 4 hour cycle.
-
The respawn time for loot can be controlled by the server admin. I have mine set to 1 hour so if you loot an area, nothing new spawns for 1 hour. I should also make some adjustments to the zombies now that I read this thread.

Battlemetrics with Firedaemon running the server as a service.

I've seen many "mods" being put on the Steam Workshop for DayZ SA that are simply repacks of other mods that people put together for their server. Do people not understand what a Collection is? Sometimes I'll download these "mods" that they are putting on Workshop for specific servers, and I find PBO's for other mods that have been released on Workshop. Most of the time these server specific "mods" don't contain anything original. This is a list of collections: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse/?appid=221100&browsesort=trend§ion=collections A collection has links to several mods used by a server. Of course, if you just used DZSALauncher, you wouldn't need Collections because you'd download all the mods you need simply by clicking on the connect button.

Can anyone give me a step-by-step on how I can add new locations/camps to my map, like in the A2/A3 days?
-
Use DZSALauncher instead. It's much better than that POS that BI created.
