When you lose the ability to open cans, use tools, etc, check your server's FPS. You might find it's dropped very very low. I had this problem and I tracked it down to some rather large bases on my server. Everything would be find until I arrived at this base, then the server FPS dropped way down. i ended up wiping the database because I couldn't even delete the base parts with my admin tool because of the lag.

I have never seen a mod in the Workshop that adversely affects the clients if they load it. I use equalModRequired = 1; in my server config so if a player doesn't have all the same mods loaded on their side, they won't get on the server. I believe the -ignoremod parameter is there in case you want to load a mod on the server only. I don't bother with that parameter on my server.

Bad version,Connection rejected by server
Uncle Zed replied to mr_dr_satan's topic in Troubleshooting
Download OmegaManager and use that to deploy a server. Copy your settings over and see if that work. It's an amazing tool that opens up all of the right ports and updates the game and mods automatically. -
You can only add mods that are in the Steam Workshop. That's why so many people have put their own server mods on there. I personally just use the Steam Workshop Collections instead.

The idea of helicopters is silly to me. How many "survivors" would have the experience to repair and fly a helicopter? It's actually as silly as every player being a mechanic. I wish skills were a real thing in the game but you can only take the realism so far before it just becomes tedious.

PLEASE reverse the NEW "Client Side Personal Night Light"
Uncle Zed replied to 0.64 Freerider's topic in General Discussion
Why is this topic even active anymore? There's now a server side setting that lets server owners decide if they want the light or not. -
You won't lose your players, bases, etc in a DayZ update. It only updates certain server files and not the database files. However, if it makes you feel better, make a copy of your storage_# folder before updating. If you ever move your server to a new host or dedicated server, you can copy the storage_# folder to the new server and keep everything.

I'm pretty sure the server time acceleration doesn't work as intended. The sunset and sunrise times are correct, but the time it takes to get from sunset to sunrise is too fast. Perhaps a bug that hasn't really been reported before?
-
I have my serverTimeAcceleration set to 6, meaning 6 hours of in-game time should pass in 1 hour of real time. I've got the date set so that the server starts getting dark by 7pm and then the sun's coming up around 4am. With the serverTimeAcceleration setting of 6 and darkness lasting roughly 9 hours, the players should have over 1 hour of real time in the dark, but I'm being told the darkness only lasts about 20 minutes. I haven't had time to be on when the darkness starts and ends. I determined the sunset and sunrise times by using an admin tool on my server to change the time. So, does serverTimeAcceleration really work correctly? With it set to 6, there's no reason the darkness should only last 20 minutes.

Download OmegaManager and let it create a server for you. It even opens the ports in the firewall. It's an indispensable tool for anyone running a DayZ server on their own hardware.

Just another FPS battle-royal game, except no one wins?
Uncle Zed replied to -MadTommy's topic in General Discussion
That's what you get when you play official vanilla servers. Community servers have modifications and config changes that changes up the whole game. -
Dayz Server + Battleye Extended Controls (BEC)
Uncle Zed replied to sr matrix's topic in New Player Discussion
A better alternative is to use OmegaManager to create and manage your server and then you can get messages in that. Google and you'll find a link. -
In this post, it was reported the spawns were in events.xml but they are not: I've added this line to my events.xml under the VehicleCivilianSedan section:

Speculation on the upcoming ''survival focused'' patch.
Uncle Zed replied to repzaj1234's topic in General Discussion
Do you have a link to information about this supposed "upcoming survival focused patch"? I haven't heard of that. -
Use DZSALauncher. It's far superior to the in-game browser, and if you want to join a modded server, it will download all required mods for you!

Google? There's a bunch of sources for this info.
-
Just wait until it gets out of Early Access, this game is gonna be DA BOMB!
-
Did you try going on their Discord server or their forums, looking for help. The only way I'll join a DayZ server is with DZSALauncher. I won't even bother with the in-game launcher.
-
Use DZSALauncher. It's much better. https://dayzsalauncher.com/#/home
-
You're better off using DZSALauncher instead of the internal server browser. You can save servers easier, don't get the lag while the list populates, and if you join a modded server, the mods are downloaded automatically for you.
-
A properly set up server would kick anyone that doesn't have the required mod. If you think you're not loading the mod, then use DZSALauncher. That will make sure you download all of the mods you need for the server.
-
There are mods that alter the effort needed to break into a base. Just have to find a server running one of those mods.

Combination lock automatically reset when spawning inside base?
Uncle Zed replied to Cpt.Crunch's topic in Troubleshooting
If you are the server owner, there's a mod that changes the lock so it can have 6 alpha numeric characters and it works perfectly, doesn't reset on server restart: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1646187754
