Servers with connection issues to central hive
Dr. Goner replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Several This is not the place to post that. Relevant: It seems that several of the hosting companies are claiming that it is in fact an issue on BIS's end. Just curious if anyone has gotten an email in response to reporting server problems. They are similar to this: We are working with the DayZ development group on the issue you are experiencing. Currently, it looks like it is something that will need to be fixed on the DayZ authentication servers. This is not affecting all servers, but a subset of our servers, so many are indeed working. Once we have confirmed the fix has been implemented, we will reply here and update you. Thanks, -

Also, it's not happening on all servers. I was able to retrieve a stable character by testing a few different servers out. If you're just starting. Log in move, move character, note location, log out, log back in, if the server didn't save, try another and repeat until you get a winner. I played all night with no problems. -

It's been addressed. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/167343-servers-with-connection-issues-to-central-hive/ -
Did you remove .pbo files or use any scripts or hacks available online for the standalone version of DayZ? I'm sorry but VAC has gained its reputation by being very good at what they do. I have to believe that you or someone playing on your machine cheated.

or dehydration.

But seriously, it looks pretty good what are you using it for.

Here ya go: http://www.dayztv.com/map/

Well you need to stay alive and go where the loot is to get guns so heading inland is by far the best option. That's logic my friend. You'll figure it out.

Is this how it is for new players? Or is it just me?
Dr. Goner replied to killa_justin's topic in New Player Discussion
Ha! Yeah, that's pretty well spot on. Even after playing the mod for a year, you just explained nearly word for word my first standalone play through. Very shitty time to realize that it takes a minute for things to show up when you place them on the ground and that doing so while within a building isn't really safe because they may go through the floor. Keep at it man, it's a blast once you learn the ropes. Stay off the coast for a while. Head inland to a water pump after spawing and you'll be fine. Also, avoid zombies like the plague until you have a fire axe. I'm serious they always fuck me up with anything less than a fire axe. EDIT: Also, it was a little weird starting yesterday. There will be more daylight serves before long. -
Why are you heading straight for Cherno? Head inland dude. Small towns, explore, enjoy, survive. You should be heading straight for a water pump. See my previous post on this thread for some perspective on how ludicrous what you're saying is.

Sorry man, I'm giving up one of the words in my member title briefly. Say it with me, there is no such thing as KOS. You were killed because you weren't aware of your surroundings and yes, this includes exploits and the meta game of server hopping. You have to be aware of these issues at all times especially in areas where it happens. KOS isn't a bad thing. Pay closer attention to everything and it won't happen as often. The game is cruel, it's challenging, but holy hell that's what makes it fun. Now get out there and explore the map, there's plenty of loot to be found! Hell if you change your play style a bit you never know what will happen. Drop out of the arms race bro, watch from the hills before going in, survive, kill zeds, help a bambi, work on your wardrobe, start a fresh fruit stand. You have thousands of different options when you play this game. Each death is a new lease on life and an opportunity for a different play through.

I have yet to be killed by anyone as a fresh spawn. Seriously, not one time. It's not that hard, head for the woods. It's the area, with all the trees and cover that is 100 meters or less away from you when you spawn. I logged in last night at the factory on a full 40/40 person server and Orlovets had not been touched. ORLOVETS!! It's 1000 meters from the spawn point. People are idiots, good news for me. I got a pristine fire axe, back pack, motor bike helmet, bottle of water, and like eight cans of food within ten minutes because people are idiots and don't know how to play this game.
-
I'm sorry man. Can't. Get. Past. Avatar. GO DAWGS!!!!
-
It saddens me that we have so many idiots in our community now. Run inland you twats. Play the game for crying out loud. It's actually fun exploring the map and getting geared up alone. Chat with a buddy in teamspeak while you do it. Have a beer and enjoy the beauty that is DayZ. This is absolutely pathetic. Fucking casuals. Do you even lift? DO YOU LIFT BRO?!?
-
These threads are hilarious, "So I've been hopping servers for an hour and can't find shit. Does this mean I have to actually play the game now? Because that sounds scary." Go look for loot somewhere else. And yes, you may have to be smart about it and you risk being killed. Be happy, you've discovered the actual fun part of the game. Enjoy the scenery.

If you are server hopping in military buildings on low pop servers this will happen. Needless to say, but you aren't the only person with the same idea. You're bound to run into thousands of others doing the same thing. My friends and I have been setting up perimeters around the airfields and killing server hoppers. It's just our little contribution to the game. If we see people come into the area on foot we watch from the shadows and let them do their thing. But if we randomly spot someone in the ATC tower, we are going to kill you.

You tried to rob me. I was in the jail in Chapaevsk (cherno apartment military building) last night around 6pm EST. We were on a very populated GA server. You said, "Hey man, drop your gun and come downstairs." I said, "That's not happening." You did not reply and I felt it was evident that you were trying to take my freedom and probably talking to your other pimple faced friends in teamspeak, giving away my location and making plans to sexually abuse my dead body. I had a weapon flashlight. You did not. I had a red dot, you had an ACOG. I peaked over the stairs, you looked around the corner, I shot you in the face and you died. I looted your body and took a pristine combat helmet and your pristine acog also a bag of rice and your ammo box. I then hid your body because you sir are a dick. Not just a normal dick but a stupid dick. Why would you try to rob me? I was minding my own business. You and your stupid payday mask. Your intimidation didn't work at all. I bet you shit your pants when I said, "That's not happening."

Missed connections thread anyone?

Servers with connection issues to central hive
Dr. Goner replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Just because Rocket makes a topic doesn't mean it's free-for-all question time. This issue is already discussed you can now name / rename your character by clicking in the main menu and typing up to twelve characters. -

Jesus christ children, can you stop the back and forth arguing on this thread. There is actual information that is more important getting buried by your pointless blathering back and forth. I'm posting this again because I want it to be read: I think, due to briefly reading the comments above, that some players have no idea how the servers / character saving system works. I'll admit I was a bit confused myself. It would be nice if a Moderator could jump in here and explain or lead us to a thread or info that explains. I know this much, on most servers set to "regular" my character is the same geared up and in the same location. On the "hardcore" servers I'm on the coast. I tested it last night and played for a while on hardcore and got my character geared up, but when I switched to another hard core server he was on the coast. Can anyone that actually knows comment on this? It's possible that it's not known. I mean, I just saw on Reddit that Rocket was unaware that the pen and paper system wasn't working! So, there may be a communication problem as far as bugs are concerned. I know the bug tracker is basically useless, it says that floating loot has been fixed yet I saw floating loot even last night just post the recent patch. EDIT: Pen and Paper thread: http://www.reddit.co...s_broken_until/ EDIT 2: This seems somewhat relevant: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/167343-servers-with-connection-issues-to-central-hive/#entry1698896 EDIT 3: This seems to be the best version of this in the bug tracker: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=7254 -
