To others who think I'm trolling this is Matt Lighfoot working on the issue on reddit. This issue is directly related to pre patch gear and players proximity to it. Here's the link: http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/1xbygt/fps_drop_is_caused_by_pre_115106_gear/cfblhwq?context=1 EDIT: Best official bug report I've found: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=8308 Also, Rocket is talking about it on twitter. I'm not trying to be a jerk here but those of you who accused me of trolling and not knowing what I'm talking about need to take time to analytically evaluate things from time to time. Just because something inconveniences you or doesn't fit into your world view doesn't mean it is not a problem. Here's where to attach the files that are requested in Matt's reddit comment: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=8477

Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.34.115106
Dr. Goner replied to mattlightfoot's topic in News & Announcements
This is definitely correct. I have a thread going here if anyone would like to contribute. There is some new info out there that it may only be "badly damaged" pre patch stuff. I wasn't able to test every item. Are the devs going to comment on this soon? No rush, there's just a lot of speculation going on right now. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/172768-how-i-fixed-fps/page-2 -
I'm not trolling anyone. This fix has helped a lot of people and I clearly stated that I wasn't able to test each individual item so the best bet is just to dump it all and make sure those you play near dump all there gear. A lot of folks on reddit are saying that the "badly damaged" textures are corrupt and causing the issue, so you could start with those. The other link I posted is just a good general tool for improving FPS.

I tested this on two separate characters. Hardcore and regular servers. I think the FPS guide definitely helped but I have yet to have a massive frame drop or a crash since ditching that old gear. Keep in mind when playing with my pre patch gear I was generally "fine" it wasn't until grouping up with several others that the problems started and mass crashing ensued. EDIT: Also should note that after making these changes I did experience massive drops while playing near a friend with pre patch gear. When he logged off my frames spiked immediately and stabilized.

This is actually recommended in the guide link I posted. And if you're not having problems, it seems like you have nothing to worry about. Just keep doing what you're doing. But this did work for me and several others have reported the same thing under other names (flickering gear etc.) Rocket himself said he was going to look into it on a reddit thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/1xbygt/fps_drop_is_caused_by_pre_115106_gear/ His comment is about half way down and he usually doesn't respond to "really bad trolls".

New Patch Memory Leak: Possible fix/workaround
Dr. Goner replied to antykain's topic in General Discussion
I just logged into a hardcore server for the first time since patch. Game completely stopped responding after five minutes. I logged back in and ran to the woods, got rid of all gear (all prepatch as I hadn't played harcore since early last week) now I'm running around Cherno for half an hour or more, naked, at 30 fps which was normal for me pre patch. -

I died and started with a completely new character and the issue is still happening. How do you explain that? -
Critical Unplanned Update of 0.34 to Stable 7 February 2014
Dr. Goner replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Not sure what's going on. Pre patch and playing the current version on experimental I was fine, but now my frames just slowly start creeping down over the course of 30 minutes. After that, if I don't go near a town I can play at around 30 in the woods with occasional drops into the teens. Like I said I never had trouble before this patch went to stable and normally I was getting better frames than most of the people I play with. I would love to know the reason why some people are not experiencing this. Basically, people have suggested that it's everything from a GPU memory leak (nothing I can fix) to drop all your gear, but I've died since the patch so I just can't see that being the problem. Any actual information would be greatly appreciated. -

Get back under your bridge and clean your shorts like a good little troll. -
Thanks but you really should make it known that editing .pbo files could result in a VAC ban.
-
Got rid of flickering items. Played for thirty minutes and the game crashes. Also, picked up items after server restart and they are now flickering. It has nothing to do with flickering items. If anything, the flickering is just a symptom of the larger problem.
-
Only problem is your fix doesn't solve the problem. In fact the people who did this were kicked by battle eye and could be banned by VAC later. Also, the one player that I know that did get in, the issue was the same.

FPS DROPS LAST PATCH - MORE INFORMATION (SPAM TO DEVS)
Dr. Goner replied to stationmax's topic in General Discussion
Try hiding your current gear and killing your character. I think it's certain characters who are carrying gear from before the patch. -
FPS DROPS LAST PATCH - MORE INFORMATION (SPAM TO DEVS)
Dr. Goner replied to stationmax's topic in General Discussion
Everyone is making a false correlation with the whole "15-30 minutes after you log in performance drops" because this is how long it takes you to get into areas with either several friends or many other players. I would eat my hat if it isn't something to do with multiple players in the same network bubble. -
FPS DROPS LAST PATCH - MORE INFORMATION (SPAM TO DEVS)
Dr. Goner replied to stationmax's topic in General Discussion
This definitely has something to do with multiple players being in proximity to each other. Tested with six players tonight. If we all entered the same network bubble, frames dropped to the point of crash. When on your own, your fine. Good new is, you know if your frames go to shit and the game crashes, there's a player close by. Alpha baby alpha, the game is awesome and when these bugs are squashed it's going to be one of the greatest of all time. -
General "DayZ freezes after new Patch (0.34)" and "FPS drop" discussion
Dr. Goner replied to Satanicraven's topic in Troubleshooting
Rocket is discussing it here on reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/1xaflr/fps_problems_new_patch/ He's asking people what nvidia drivers they have. Seems like a gpu issue. He also mentions a fix monday morning but it seems like he's trying to get to the bottom of it. EDIT: Rocket's responses are about halfway down the reddit thread. -

Dr. Goner replied to mattlightfoot's topic in News & Announcements
And no, this is not correct. There was a server side increase but the client side frames will go up as improvements are made server side. I've noticed 5-10 frame improvement. I haven't played today so I can't speak to the "memory leak" issue until I get home. -

Rocket seems to be working through it (fps issue) with a few players on the reddit thread here. From listening to the conversation so far, I would suggest, if you are having problems, to know your system specs and current Nvidia drivers. http://www.reddit.co...lems_new_patch/ EDIT: In other words that reddit thread is the place to post your system info and current nvidia drivers if you want to help out. -

I'm going to have to wait until I get home to try out the new patch. I haven't had any performance issues yet so I'm hoping this is just a few random folks and not everyone.
