    Terrors dairy of thoughts

Yay! Please search 24/7 Drifting in dayz commander or set search filter to this in game search. It is a wonderful community but you need to get whitelisted. It is quick and easy just email GUID and in game name to damnitsteaz@gmail.com Everyone there is really nice. It's lowly populated on weekdays but gets up to 15 or 20 players on weekends. There's 250 vehicles... Anyway, it's Chernarus map. I hope to see you there!!!

NVG glasses in 1.7.5.1 [warning: spoiler]

I agree with some of the previous posts that talk about just how damn dark it is all the time and the fact that a players eyes would adjust. I think that keeps people out of night more than other players with NVGs so you're right on with that statement. But the reason people don't play populated servers is because the lag can get atrocious and they get hacked once every twenty-four hours if not more often than that.

    Is it still worth it?

I can honestly say, that I have been playing dayz for eight full weeks. I've been playing it at a much higher rate than any other video game I've ever played. I've logged over 200 hours in that time period and I'm just starting to get board. My advice, buy it, start with nothing on a server with a day night cycle and hone your skill. Do that for a couple weeks then find a steady 24/7 daylight server to play on. It'll be worth it. Plus I don't know where you live but Spring is a little ways away, so why not enjoy the last of winter with a little (or a lot of) DayZ.

    Eating Crow

It's been so great hearing all the responses to the questions I've raised. I honestly see every side of this discussion. The most exciting thing about all of this to me is the fact that there is actually research being done at accredited Universities on this subject. I should start another thread about the Harvard study that linked improvements in hand eye coordination and increased problem solving skill to limited game play. I love that study because it basically found that video games are a great tool for learning. On the other hand, there have been cases of near starvation and malnutrition reported in Japan due to excessive game play.Anyway, I don't think you're a psychopath at all. I think you are just enjoying an escape like all of us, but Hogs makes a great point. Killing a fresh spawn is a jerk move no matter how you slice it because you control your actions within the context of the game. In the post I made about quitting I mentioned that I play the hero because I am NOT a hero in real life. I want to escape and revel in the satisfaction that dayz give me by allowing me to be a savior or a teacher/guide to another player. My reasons for playing are no different than the player who sits on a hill shooting people with no weapons. It gives me joy.

    Eating Crow

I wouldn't say people were begging me not to go. There were just a lot of people who encouraged me to stay because there are so few dedicated "hero" players in dayz. The game is very very fun and a great escape. That's why I came back. I've lightened up. I'm eating crow in order to try and keep my credibility. I'm just trying to admit that I over reacted. I was wrong. Anyway, thanks for the reply.

I like the second part of your statement, but I don't think they should be removed. Though, it is a serious advantage when playing at night. I've played a lot at night without them, but I do avoid night servers now. Hmmm... It would be interesting if they spawned at higher percentages for an hour or two in the dead of night. Whatcha think?

I don't mind an honest bandit. But I will try to convince you, there's always a time for redemption. Watch this for inspiration.

    Eating Crow

The subject means I'm "Eating Crow" because I said I was leaving the game and now I'm admitting I was wrong because I've come crawling back. The subject title is perfectly descriptive of the post.

    Eating Crow

There is definitely a lot of information on this subject out there. What I found really interesting is that some cognitive psychologists are actually designing video games to test their theories. Perhaps today, they would use a game to perform the famous Milgram experiment. Anyway, thanks for replying.

I take no issue with your observation. I agree. There are many reasons why we play video games and DayZ is definitely a strong draw.

Jesus man, look up the phrase "Eating Crow" online and get back to me when you're informed. Your sense of self-importance is really really annoying. It most definitely was not you, but I won't give out this kids name because that's just wrong.

Ha! No, that was just a little dig I added in to upset the bandits. I just personally feel like being a bandit is the easy way to play DayZ. Hide in the bushes and kill everyone, or take a chance to save someone asking for help? Seems obvious to me.

This is a great idea! I just applied to Balota Buddies whitelist! Which server should I get on for normal DayZ US 1.7.5.1? Anyway, that's off topic, but thanks for the encouragement man!

Indeed! I have taken on a completely different style of "base" building. Many small bases with just the essentials. No more giant camps. Also, I've been hiding bases in plain site. It's a fun activity, plus If they get found it doesn't hurt. I like the idea of creating little caches out there just for other players to find.
  18. I like this topic. I don't think bandits are cowards they're mostly bored or boring. Shooting fresh spawns, I don't remotely understand what sick pleasure that could possibly give anyone. I think there is a misconception in this game about what a "bandit" is. The teeny boppers come running to dayz and start doing what they know. They all play COD and countless other shooters so they just kill everything in site. I feel sorry for the people who play dayz as purely PVP. They are missing out on an amazing experience. Also, the day I get kidnapped, is the day I quit playing. How does that even happen?

    High performance private hives

Also, by lowering the objects rendered to very low, you're able to spot all the scattered loot around crash sites and random loot spawns easier. I found my first Mtn. Dew twenty feet from a random loot site in this way. It's a win win. You can really improve on your problem by adjusting the video settings in game. There are elaborate youtube videos on this subject.

    Team Building

So,I posted yesterday about Dayz Chernarus US 1462 server that is run by DIS Gaming. I just wanted to elaborate a bit more on my specific interests on this server. I mentioned that there is one established clan. They have been inviting several lone wolf players into their fold but most of these players aren't interested due to clan hierarchy. My point is, there are a few of us lone wolfs who are looking to team up in a loose way. No one is in charge of anyone else and everyone within the group is allowed to trade freely and maintain possession of their items. It started to work well last night when I teamed up with another player for a while. We managed to get some great loot and definitely felt more secure while traveling together. Like I said, I'm looking for other older gamers to play with. But in retrospect this statement seems a little judgmental as I have had a good time playing with younger players, so I'll amend that statement and say please be mature and schooled in the ways of loot farming and ARMA II. Anyway, send me a message before you plan on popping in, I'll be there all weekend. See my previous post entitled Lets Work Together for a description of the server. I think it holds true to the original map with a few subtle bonuses. Thanks and be safe out there!! Doc
  21. Yet, most people have no problem waiting years for the next COD or Grand Theft Auto game to be released. And with those titles, we have a full understanding that hundreds of designers and developers are working on the project. I think we should look at DayZ Standalone as completely separate from the mod. If there wasn't this level of transparency within Bohemia we would have no idea where anything stood anyway and we could look at "Zombie Survival Title In Progress Release Date Unknown" listed on there site and forget about it. Not to be rude, but for now, enjoy the mod for what it is and forget about the new game. It will be here when it gets here. Don't confuse your impatience with frustration.

    Looking for a group!

Hey Man! I just posted about this in the new player discussion. I'm looking for someone to join me on DayZ US 1462 Chernarus. Read my post and get back to me.Thanks!!

    Evil Gamers is recruiting!

    How do I do that?
  25. Not even close to the same and nowhere near the time waste that it is in dayz. I think I'm going to give the game up over it. I've never been close to that before... It's a shame because its such a great game. Not sure ill even buy the standalone unless they come up with a way to save your game. Now isn't that a novel idea.
