Ha! No, that was just a little dig I added in to upset the bandits. I just personally feel like being a bandit is the easy way to play DayZ. Hide in the bushes and kill everyone, or take a chance to save someone asking for help? Seems obvious to me.

This is a great idea! I just applied to Balota Buddies whitelist! Which server should I get on for normal DayZ US 1.7.5.1? Anyway, that's off topic, but thanks for the encouragement man!

Indeed! I have taken on a completely different style of "base" building. Many small bases with just the essentials. No more giant camps. Also, I've been hiding bases in plain site. It's a fun activity, plus If they get found it doesn't hurt. I like the idea of creating little caches out there just for other players to find.
  4. I like this topic. I don't think bandits are cowards they're mostly bored or boring. Shooting fresh spawns, I don't remotely understand what sick pleasure that could possibly give anyone. I think there is a misconception in this game about what a "bandit" is. The teeny boppers come running to dayz and start doing what they know. They all play COD and countless other shooters so they just kill everything in site. I feel sorry for the people who play dayz as purely PVP. They are missing out on an amazing experience. Also, the day I get kidnapped, is the day I quit playing. How does that even happen?

    High performance private hives

Also, by lowering the objects rendered to very low, you're able to spot all the scattered loot around crash sites and random loot spawns easier. I found my first Mtn. Dew twenty feet from a random loot site in this way. It's a win win. You can really improve on your problem by adjusting the video settings in game. There are elaborate youtube videos on this subject.

    Team Building

So,I posted yesterday about Dayz Chernarus US 1462 server that is run by DIS Gaming. I just wanted to elaborate a bit more on my specific interests on this server. I mentioned that there is one established clan. They have been inviting several lone wolf players into their fold but most of these players aren't interested due to clan hierarchy. My point is, there are a few of us lone wolfs who are looking to team up in a loose way. No one is in charge of anyone else and everyone within the group is allowed to trade freely and maintain possession of their items. It started to work well last night when I teamed up with another player for a while. We managed to get some great loot and definitely felt more secure while traveling together. Like I said, I'm looking for other older gamers to play with. But in retrospect this statement seems a little judgmental as I have had a good time playing with younger players, so I'll amend that statement and say please be mature and schooled in the ways of loot farming and ARMA II. Anyway, send me a message before you plan on popping in, I'll be there all weekend. See my previous post entitled Lets Work Together for a description of the server. I think it holds true to the original map with a few subtle bonuses. Thanks and be safe out there!! Doc
  7. Yet, most people have no problem waiting years for the next COD or Grand Theft Auto game to be released. And with those titles, we have a full understanding that hundreds of designers and developers are working on the project. I think we should look at DayZ Standalone as completely separate from the mod. If there wasn't this level of transparency within Bohemia we would have no idea where anything stood anyway and we could look at "Zombie Survival Title In Progress Release Date Unknown" listed on there site and forget about it. Not to be rude, but for now, enjoy the mod for what it is and forget about the new game. It will be here when it gets here. Don't confuse your impatience with frustration.

    Looking for a group!

Hey Man! I just posted about this in the new player discussion. I'm looking for someone to join me on DayZ US 1462 Chernarus. Read my post and get back to me.Thanks!!

    Evil Gamers is recruiting!

Cool, I'll hop onto your server for a bit this weekend!

    Evil Gamers is recruiting!

    How do I do that?
  11. Not even close to the same and nowhere near the time waste that it is in dayz. I think I'm going to give the game up over it. I've never been close to that before... It's a shame because its such a great game. Not sure ill even buy the standalone unless they come up with a way to save your game. Now isn't that a novel idea.

    Evil Gamers is recruiting!

Jesus awesome christ!! I wanna join you guys just because you have (the) Melvins as your soundtrack. Wonderful choice!! Top notch man, I'm going to start a Melvins Army clan maybe.

    What if you became infected?

I think it would be cool if when you were killed, your corpse was reanimated and became sort of a moving, living, dangerous loot point. So instead of just running back to your body, you have to run back and fight your dead self for your gear.
  14. Dr. Goner

    Your Shoot On Sight Threshold?

But you can't loot skins off of dead players, so why would you kill someone in a ghillie?
  15. "They've nailed me!" I shouted. "I'm trapped in some stinking mountain crossroads called Petrovka. I don't have much time. The fuckers are closing in.""Who?" he said. "You sound a little paranoid." "You bastard!" I screamed. "First I got run down by the ZED, then that kid spotted me! I need a lawyer immediately!" "What are you doing in Petrovka?" he said. "Didn't you get my telegram?" "What? Fuck telegrams. I'm in trouble." "You're supposed to be in Cherno," he said. "We have a suite at the Chernogorsk International Hotel. I was just about to leave for the airport ..."
  16. Korben drinks two litters of Mountain Dew by the case while screaming at his mom to "bring me a sandwich so I don't have to log out" all with his mic button mashed of course. He keeps his inventory full of steel bolts but no crossbow because he wants to fix a car up one day.
  17. I completely agree with this. Same goes for sniping in my book and other specialized skills like driving a Ural. In real life the Ural would be an eighteen speed vehicle that required special licensing to operate. And NO ONE, can just pick up a DMR caliber weapon in real life and hit a target at a thousand yards out within the first five minutes. It is changes like these that will turn this game into a truly specialized experience for each player. Anything that encourages teamwork should be encouraged. It should take months of playing to build a well rounded squad. The question is. How do you take this aspect and turn it into a well rounded squad vs. squad experience. If you read The Walking Dead comics you'll know what I am talking about. Zombie hordes that spawn more infrequently than heli crashes anyone? If you are spotted by a horde alone it equals certain death, but if your squad is well equipped and trained it would be simply a major threat. How about mega hordes once a restart that require all squads on a server to team up in order to return to survival / player vs. player experience.
  18. Full out saber rattler. Scares the enemy with phrases like "do not come near north east or I will eliminate you." Has the stones to back it up though. Won't pass up a player vs. player fight and may or may not have instigated a few. Definitely has seen some rounds in a bandit skin. Good guy if you can offer something. If you're a bambi. He won't even watch you die. He's moving towards better gear and a better more well hid camp.

Mr Nasty is constantly joking with his mic button spammed in side chat pissing of the entire server. He has good intention in general.

    Humanity!

Not necessarily true. It is either buggy or I missed something because last night I killed someone who had me wounded to the point of bandages and morphine and my skin changed to a bandit. By missing something I mean there was another player there who wounded me. Which I seriously doubt because I came out and checked the body after and no one shot at me.

    Reason behind your username?

Dr. Gonzo was Hunter S. Thompson's fictional drug swilling attorney in the novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. He was based on Thompson's real life friend and attorney that was a notorious madman named Oscar Zeta Acosta. I want to eventually develop my character as a field medic, so I thought I would pay homage to the weirdest doctor of them all.
  22. Honestly, it is unrealistic to eat eight pounds of cow in three seconds and be back at full health. I think this will encourage more cooperation and conservative play. The further this game gets from CoD the better it will be for grown up gamers. I understand the concern but I want to give it a try first. I think there should be changes to communication abilities as well. Imagine finding a two way radio and only being able to communicate with the person you give the second unit to. Or finding hand scanners to listen in on conversations.

    First Kill

I know it seems ridiculous and obviously you are partially correct about trying out the gun. It was the first time I've ever been able to view another player from a safe distance, but I really did think I was at Balota for a minute. My mind just slipped. Thanks for the input man.
