  1. It's all good. I definitely understand your sentiment. I'm no fan of PR / marketing managers myself. But in this case, it might have been nice to have the correct tool for the job.A good PR rep wouldn't actually be breathing down your neck. The task of a PR manager is to let operations proceed unhindered by the public relations needs of a company. Rocket, whether you like it or not, you are the PR manager. You set the PR strategy. Your Reddit posts, info here, and tweets are BIS's PR for DayZ.
  2. The whole thing is a shit show at this point. Zero PR skill all the way around. Why is the head developer in charge of social media anyway? I would say they need to hire a marketing manager but it seems a little late for that at this point.
  3. Just remember all, this is the official forum for the DayZ Mod. When Standalone comes out I assume there will be a new forum. Twitter has been the best way for me to keep up with info. The discussions here are nice though.

    A Noobie's Impression and comments

Here's what you need to do. These items are your goal. Hatchet, water bottle, matches, hunting knife, and a gun with ammo. In that order. This should be the only reason you exist when you begin playing this game. If you're playing at night... put flashlight at the top of the list. Second or B or whatever number we're on. POLANA, POLANA, POLANA!! Polana is where noobs should live. All the items I listed and many others can be found in the grocery and adjacent house in Polana. It's away from the coast of death and lightly traveled so you'll be safe. You can learn about loot cycling there. Every time you die, head to Polana and start gathering the items I listed again and again. They allow you to hunt food, stay hydrated, and keep warm. Last... Notice I didn't mention anything about defending yourself. When you start playing dayz, stealth should be your mode, no questions about it. You don't go near ANYONE. If you see someone, you run the opposite direction. All you need to do is focus on looting the items I listed and staying alive. The closest you get to PVP for now is the rush you feel while safely watching someone through binoculars from a bush. It's really a blast man. Survive for a while. You'll know you've moved on from noob to novice when you meet your first stranger to exchange blood. Have fun! Don't quit yet.
  5. Well, don't be so upset you won't have to wait that long. November is totally unrealistic. I would be willing to bet the game comes out during the steam summer sale. That's between July 12th and the 22nd. If I'm wrong I'll eat my... ah who am I kidding. If I'm wrong I'll keep waiting. I just bought Space Pirates And Zombies for 1.99! It's pretty fun and on sale all weekend.
  6. Fraggle, you can usually cheer me up, so thanks for trying. I didn't mean the community's interest was fading, I was referring to my own interest. There's a lot of cool looking, extremely time consuming, games that I'm waiting on playing in hopes of DayZ SA release. Most of the games I want to play are ones that Dean has been promoting. I feel like if I move onto something else now, I won't buy into the alpha. I'm just not sure. I'm holding out for some kind of news. I feel like the first week of July is going to be it.
  7. How pissed is the community going to be at me for saying that my interest is fading fast? I don't understand why they can't release the damn game. They've already prepped all of us that it will be buggy. Why not release it and commence to fixing bugs behind the scenes while we all play and report back? Seriously, does anyone have a good reason why this game isn't out yet?

    Whats the point of dayz?

You wait... and wait... and wait... for the full standalone release. Any word on when that might happen by the way? I'm excited.
  9. This is looking good. Much better demo of the crafting system. I love how complex the health system is! Foot wear meter!!! That's amazing! My uncle was in Vietnam and explained to me early on that a soldier with good foot hygiene was a happy solider. I love the idea that footwear actually matters. Now release the damn alpha already!! PS: Those radios are going to get annoying as hell.

    Get rid of chernarus.

Yeah, good question... perplexing. How do they close off the northern and western edges of the map in it's current state? Think before typing.

    Get rid of chernarus.

Obviously you've never actually traveled to the midwest.EDIT: And if you're really from Chicago, I hope you realize that it is considered Middle America. I'm from downstate by the way.

    Get rid of chernarus.

Blah, blah, blah... Americans are the only safe group of people left to pick on. Everyone else has become so thin skinned. Like we're the only patriotic country on earth. We just have an "every loud mouth should be heard" policy.

    Get rid of chernarus.

I think this would be amazing. I've always wondered why games don't recreate small towns in great detail as opposed to making sub par versions of large cities. GTA is the only game that has come close to doing large cities justice. Unfortunately I'm a little bored with that series.
  14. Here's a good synopsis. I feel like it's balanced. I'm super excited to play the damn game no matter how buggy it is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knPIqojkgrc
  15. Uhhh... It's not my job to defend dayz standalone. I feel like I'm fairly active on the forums but I still understand some of the criticism. There's a lot of buzz, among a small group of loyal devotees, around the SA development. I think a lot of people are feeling let down because we hear "its an alpha, its an alpha, its in alpha" but they don't release the public alpha. So now we have this new bullshit term PRE-Alpha, what's next post-pre apha? It seems to me if they were comfortable with all these bugs glitches and "alpha" issues, they would release the game and let the bug squashing begin. Obviously there is something that the community doesn't know about the state of DayZ development. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe there are problems with funding. Maybe they are making the game ten times more amazing than we could ever imagine. Unfortunately, in relation to the latter, the E3 footage just doesn't show that much. I'm not saying it's not there below the surface, I'm just saying it looks a lot like the mod as far as bugs we're seeing in this footage. And the "we're getting to that" answer is just getting old. I don't care what they say from here on out as long as it isn't "we're working on that". You can't be working on everything at all times. This is why the devblogs were supposed to be important. They could showcase what you were actually working on. Anyway, I digress. Haters gonna hate ya'll. Why does this community have an uncontrollable urge to lash out with full fangs and claws at any criticism. It makes us all seem like a bunch of unconfident fanboys with nothing better to do than cry anytime someone doesn't like our favorite toy. Come on folks, grow up. To the moderators, thank you (most of you) for showing restraint at this time. When ya'll lash out it's ten times worse than when the average turd cries about haters.

    DayZ Mod 1.7.7 Patch

Seems like you should start carefully avoiding zombies. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

    Dayz for Xbox One?

Like most people, I believe that great games should be widely available. I think, if DayZ standalone is a success, that it will definitely show up on consoles. I wouldn't hold my breath because it will be years not months before that happens. I love my PC games but I love all gaming. I wouldn't give up my PS3 games nor would I give up my original version of Field Runners on my iPhone. Anyway, I hope it happens for you, but it will be at least two or three years down the road. DayZ will probably be in alph and beta for at least that long.

    The 1.7.7 update favorites

    Kyuss RULES!!!!
  19. Just embrace the role of hero man. I find that to be the real "game" in dayz anyway. I've killed players and it's exciting but no more exciting than any other PVP game. That being said. Playing the hero and responding to some unknown persons call for help has provided me with some of the most exciting in game moments of my life. It's even better when you get to kill of a few opportunistic bandits that show up while you're helping out. I love that feeling of looking at the player list prior to log-in and thinking, I've helped almost all of these people out. Now that's security. When I was playing a lot, regulars on our server would hunt down people that had killed me.
  20. I didn't say I wanted the old one back. I felt like my post was to the point, offering a little constructive criticism. I don't mind the new look, it just seems really really utilitarian and I was wondering what would be so time intensive to give it a few design elements. If it works well I can live with the poor design.
  21. While I don't really mind the look of the new inventory screen I agree that it shouldn't take that much time to make it look a great deal better. Obviously Bohemia has talented artists on staff, seems like this wouldn't take much more than a day to sketch up and a day to program. I'm not a programmer but even I understand that adding CSS to this wouldn't be difficult, or am I missing something? My websites back end UI doesn't need to look pretty, but our programmer dressed it up a bit, in his own nerdy way. He's no designer but a rounded corner here and there makes it easier on the eyes. Also, I understand the limitations when it comes to web fonts but Times New Roman, at least it appears to be Times New Roman maybe Georgia, I mean why not Papyrus am I right? Before you all kill me that was a joke. Here's a better one. Who does Papyrus get drunk with on the weekends? Comic Sans. Oh I love font humor. Call me the kernel of font jokes. Anyway, like I said, I'll be fine with the look as long as the functionality is there, but it does call to question how resources are being used. I mean, this game is going to make a SHIT ton of money.
  22. Yeah, yeah, yeah!! Thanks for the update. Ya'll are killing it. Also, congrats on your amazing accomplishment! Everest man, wow! The terrain looks amazing and I want to know what that spray bottle in your backpack is for.

    Places to get better gear?

Actually, Berenzino is great! The apartments have camo clothes and ghillie suits. In Berenzino, you can loot cycle the apartments, military tents, and grocery stores to your hearts content. Plus the industrial buildings on the north end of the city are great for finding all the car parts you need. I guess I only have on question, do you know how to loot cycle?

    New tweet from Rocket

In the states we say "It's all downhill from here." As in we've already made the difficult climb, now we can coast a bit. Sounds like things are shaping up well. I am so excited!! I just want to see some footage of these new zeds.
