Exactly. I've been enjoying the hell out of myself exploring all the new areas of the map. Though I have yet to find the "prison" I suspect it will be added in the far north in a later update. There's some amazing new places out there. I've been working my way along the train tracks, coming further inland for food and water when I need them.

No need to treat people like that. Seriously though, you need to eat like seven cans of food, then drink water until it says you are completely full. Continue to eat every 5-10 minutes after the initial binge. It could take up to an hour of doing this but you will eventually get better.

Rolling Update Rev. 0.30.114008
Dr. Goner replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
You sure you're not just getting shot? Sometimes you don't hear the gunfire. I'm not being a dick, I'm only asking because I have yet to experience this and I have a really old character. -
Just logged in to check my guy. He's still going strong. Does anyone know why some people are experiencing this? If there is something I'm doing "right" I would like to know as well. I usually play on the same server. I rarely server hop. I remember reading somewhere that if you switch servers four times within a certain time frame that your character would reset. It was implemented to curtail server hoppers.

It's weird. I have only lost one character and that was during the security wipe they did on day 2 or whatever. My guy is still kicking going on a couple weeks now. I must be lucky.

DayZ Is Officially Ruined(Player Wise)
Dr. Goner replied to daniels's topic in New Player Discussion
I'm ready for people to stop complaining about this and set up a safe zone. Just name the server, pick a town, and start your kingdom man, simple as that. You'll need a perimeter and you will have to enforce your law. You'll need scouts and a system for gathering supplies. Nobody wants to be a worker bee in DayZ right now and I can't say that I blame them. Who does this benefit? You have to think about it in terms of economics. What are the incentives that you and your "safe zone" can offer? People aren't just going to log on night after night and "man" a guard tower for nothing in return. People want fun engaging excitement. The best outcome would be the more structured battles that would take place between your group and those trying to knock you off your hill. The problem is, you have to be extremely organized. I've thought it out a hundred times. It would be so easy for a group of ten or fifteen guys to take and hold the NWAF. I mean the guard towers are right there waiting to be manned. Good luck man, let me know if you ever get it going. -

Let's hope there is never an AS50 in this game. No offense but it is much more enjoyable at this stage without them. I actually feel like people sniping from a distance have to hone their craft a bit. -
I'm watching you.

Here's a couple silly questions: When one presses the "L" button aren't flashlights, headlamps, weapon attached lights, supposed to go on and off? I have to go into the inventory, right click item, and click "turn on" or "turn off" every time. It's a bit cumbersome. Also, I have my weapon in the hot bar, but when I go to access it by pressing "1" it inevitably fails the first time and only works on the second attempt. Not sure if these are known bugs or if anyone else has experienced similar issue. Any input would be greatly appreciated. It should be noted that I use a keyboard with no number pad. Thanks!

What are your thoughts on camping snipers at Balota?
Dr. Goner replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
I actually really like what they've done with Balota. At least now, if you're into that sort of thing, you don't have to walk for a half hour across the map to NWAF to find a fight. It's brilliant on the developers part actually. The North is still where it's at in my opinion. I've been traversing the hell out of the map. There are some amazing new areas out there. -
You guys are the coolest. Remember that time you made that campfire and cooked all that meat? Keep up the good work dudes. You should post topics on all of your exploits that would be AWESOME. Morons

Who Are You? Or "How to make DayZ not all about KOS in a few not so easy steps".
Dr. Goner replied to semipr0's topic in General Discussion
I think you did a good job of concisely laying out several suggestions that have been made before. I really like the idea of being able to see facial hair, bandages, scars, and other "symbols" of a seasoned character. I think if I came upon a bearded, grizzled, scarred, one eyed character in the wilderness, I would be much less likely to shoot him in the face. In fact, I think I would want to know his story and what he had learned. How the hell did you lose that eye man? I'm currently on my second character since the day of release. I have seen some shit. I've killed and been wounded by players and zombies. I've gotten really ill, black and white screen, from both injuries yet managed to nurse myself painstakingly back to health. These are the defining experiences of my play through. It would be nice if there was visible evidence of them on my body. But in reality, I'm just kitted up in matching cammo just like any other server hopper could be in a couple hours. -

I'm pretty sure there are several topics on this subject already. -

I can also confirm that this was mentioned in conversation during one of the lengthy live streams done pre alpha release. -

I'd like to see that. I think if you had four actually attacking you, at close range, at the same time, you'd go down, but I could be wrong. -

It's just something that a few servers had in the mod and I feel it could be expanded upon. And I wouldn't call it obvious as there is currently no back story for DayZ. Chernarus could be a huge quarantine zone for all we know. -

Completely agree with this. I was hoping that finding one bullet would be glorious. But, I've got like 300 5.56 rounds and no zombies to use them on. -
Think of yourself as washing up on the beach from a shipwreck. You're nearly dead from being lost at sea. You're out of the frying pan and into the fire.

What should I do if I start out in that spawn northeast of Tulga?
Dr. Goner replied to Omni123's topic in General Discussion
Head north to Polana, then hit Berenzino for the hospital and two groceries. Then north to North East Airfield. -
I can't wait for more zombies. As far as clipping, I think that whole "Oh man, walls aren't there" thing form the development is proving difficult to workaround. I haven't found it to be a huge problem but it would be nice to feel safe from zeds while in a structure. I vote for a project zomboid type scenario where once they know you're in there they eventually come in by breaking down doors and windows, they are unrelenting. I think all of these threads are just superfluous at this point. In reality they are just all part of a larger question, "Where is the game headed?" There's so much possibility now. I can't wait to see what happens this year. I really hope I can board up a house to stave off the dead and create limited entrances for would be attackers.

Damn straight, new and improved crash sites. I want like 150 zombies though, not 15 or so like in the mod. I want it to be a serious decision to tackle one of these sites and something that you would never do alone. -

Very random, medical, humanitarian, and military air drops could be interesting. -

Hordes of the undead out of nowhere in the wilderness. I guess it would make sense to have them all contain loot or something. I know it will be really dangerous and basically a situation that you have to run from, but there must be an incentive to engage them as a group. It would be awesome to lure the horde into Cherno and watch the madness from the hills.
