Deer Stands - Been to 30 of them, never seen a weapon
Eiskrem-Kaiser replied to Leslie Kean's topic in New Player Discussion
Afaik, loot doesn't spawn in deer stands _yet_. Just like the loot spawns in some of the buildings are broken/not implemented. I'm pretty sure, they will eventually spawn stuff. -
Happy holidays, dev team. Take your break. You've been working hard. No need to patch during the holidays, no hurry ;)

Playing the last couple of days, I noticed, that people's voices over VoIP are extremely quiet. Unless they are standing right behind you, you can hardly understand what they are saying. Also, when playing with friends over Teamspeak, we noticed, that the voice quality ingame is so bad, that you can't even recognize your friends. I suggest increasing the radius of VoIP a little and making it louder. And if we could get a better VoIP-codec, that would be great, too.
-
What about the quality? Don't you think it would be nice to get a better codec? Since so many people's microphones are horrible, there's no need to even worsen that by low voip quality, I think.
-
I actually think, you might be the only one having a problem with this. I like this new feature. Just like in real life, you have to stack things into your backpack. You can't just drop them in if you want to get more stuff in there. And honestly, I don't see your problem. It's not really hard to do, or anything.
-
Already have that turned up.
-
Since items can have properties now, you could implement that any item your first character ever took into his hands, can not be picked up by your second one. Easy fix.
-
Yeah, it's pretty much a waste of time, going through these.

where to get blue staff vest
Eiskrem-Kaiser replied to drunkenteddybear's topic in General Discussion
I found a blue one in a train station. Does it give you any sort of protection against bullets? Or is it just for storing items and looking goddamn beautiful? -
Who cares again? oO

Hi there. So, in this thread (http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=23550) I already posted an idea for dynamically growing beards. I think it would be awesome, if players (male models only, I guess ^^) would grow beards. The longer you survive, the longer your beard will become. This way, you could actually kinda 'see', how long a player has been alive. I thought, this idea deserves its own thread. The feedback in the other thread has been good enough for me to propose this in a new thread. Also, maybe you could shave by using your hunting knife. Let me know, what you think.

I still want this feature in the game! Pushing this, just to make sure ;)
-
Yeah, enough with american settings. Not everyone is american. Also, it's quite boring.
-
If we keep the L85, can we then also have 3d-spotting please? Just take it out. If there was a phaser/laser gun in the game, which was really op, people would still complain if it was finally taken out...

Standalone Poll: First Person Only?
Eiskrem-Kaiser replied to Trizzo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't get this debate. It is obvious, people want to keep 3rd person, for whatever reasons. So, why not keep it, but change it. It has already been suggested: In 3rd person, the camera should only render objects, that the player could also in 1st person. This would make everyone happy. You could still have your 3rd person for walking around, but you couldn't abuse it anymore. You'd still have to peek around corners and such. -
Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
Eiskrem-Kaiser replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I would like to see the helis removed. Right now, there is no incentive to build a tent camp or hider your vehicles, since they can easily be spotted by helis. -

Also, for the friend system: You should be able to respawn with your friends. For this, everyone has to be dead and you would still respawn at the beach. This would also be somewhat realistic, because not only loners, but also groups of survivors would flee to chernarus (by boat, it seems). -

Here's a suggestion for third person view: It shouldn't be possible to peek around corners or over walls with 3rd person view. But I like to switch from first to third person. Gives you a wider field of vision. So, why not make it, so that objects your character can't see from his perspective aren't rendered behind walls and such. You could see the grass or buildings behind the wall, but not the player. He only appears, when your character could see him. This should be possible to do, shouldn't it? Then you wouldn't have to take 3rd person out of the game to make it fair. -
I, too, already suggested beards. Most seemed to like the idea. The link to the thread is in my signature. I love the additional suggestion of worn out clothes :D

Date/Time: anytime What happened: If you open your rangefinder, whilst being in thermal-zoom with the L85, the rangefinder will from then on have thermal vision, too. Even if you switch your main weapon. The effect will be gone, when you disconnect. I can confirm two accounts of this happening. First, a mate noticed this. 10 minutes later, I accidentally, too, switched to the rangefinder, before unzooming the L85 and I noticed the same thing. It is reproducable. Didn't make a screenshot, unfortunately. Where you were: Near Stary What you were doing: Camping and sniping people in stary :o Missed though. Current installed version: 1.7.2.3. *Server(s) you were on: DE 201 *Your system specs: not relevant *Timeline of events before/after error: ???

Rangefinder with thermalvision
Eiskrem-Kaiser replied to Eiskrem-Kaiser's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This doesn't seem to work at night, however. -
The only thing that could render this idea somewhat useless is the average life expectancy of currently 49 minutes :D Not enough time to grow a decent beard.
-
Yep, getting the error message too.

A kill tuning mechanic from a PVPer's perspective.
Eiskrem-Kaiser replied to Lady Kyrah's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I guess so :D I'd like more discussion on this as well. But there are so many suggestions worth checking out and so little time :) -

Interesting idea indeed. I think, that the bandit skin wasn't perfect, but it kinda worked. This idea might work too. It's not perfect either, but I think, it breaks immersion to a much lesser extent. And as you said, it's an indirect form of "punishment". I like, how this would work on a psychological level, somewhat more subtle than the bandit skin. Will the respawn timer reset? It is somewhat karma-like, but only like a one-time-karma, if the timer resets every time, the player spawns new.
