I don't like it either but the game is supposed to be a persistant world, IE logout and login the same spot. What we need to stop is server hopping and the best way to do that is to nulify or get rid of the advantages that would bring... somehow. Currently, in my opinion the only 'real' fix thats been suggested is no more master character server, character data is stored on whatever server you're playing on. everything else i've heard or seen only partially fixes the problem, brings new ones to the table that aren't that much better or aren't really fixes at all and really just amount to people complaining about said problem and damning those at fault. (not all of which are present in this thread I mind you) -

I thought I read somewhere in an interview someone did with rocket that he's planning on going that route anyway, the character you play with be saved to that server and that server only. Although this is heresay as I cannot remember where I heard this, seems to be the only true fix if you ask me, everything else just seems to be a waste of time. -

it's not going to happen and this thread is posted like 4 times a day. Give it a rest people! The game is in an alpha stage, rocket is going to fix whats broken and add features HE think is is right. we're here to bug report not influence development. -
CZ550 i found in a barn with no ammo, I died shortly there after to zombies. I think I died about 10 times before I really got the hang of this game engine and it's weird controls.

yeah the DMR has a pretty high rate of fire for a sniper rifle. As other people have said it's more likely you just happened to get gunned down by a bunch of really accurate shots. tough break.

yeah personally I think the bones breaking should be saved for falling and getting shot. I fail to see how a zombie would have the strength to break bones by punching. -

what worries me is that people even pay attention to who they're killing, the hell does it matter? I've killed like 4 people and I don't remember a damn one of them, or even care who they are. -
I always seem to find vehicles on servers I don't want to play on cause of it's settings. really wish I could find one on my usual server... :(

Okay well I'm sorry that I jumped to conclusions about your intentions of that post. I was so ready for someone to throw the usual crap at me and tell me that this isn't someplace I should be that I assumed that that's what you were doing and I sincerely apologize for it. Also, I understand that DayZ isn't really a "mod about zombies" it's more of what you described and that's why I like it. I recently helped a kick-starter project for another game involving zombies that promises survival aspects. I really enjoy what rocket is doing with this mod and I think projects like this need to be supported. There has been too many games LIKE dead island and L4D. Not to say that those games aren't enjoyable but there are too many like it and these kinds of games need publicity and support, of all kinds to show the gaming industry that these kinds of games are possible AND enjoyable. Again I apologize for what may have seemed like an attack, I was going under assumptions and lets be honest it's hard to tell the way someone meant something to be read.

Dude I fucking LOVE deer stands, I spent 60-80% of my playtime running to and from them. I hate towns, nothing but deathtraps full of assholes, zombies and zombie assholes. I have found so much good shit in deer stands I couldn't possibly remember it all, I know for sure that I'm on my second DMR from deer stands though so I'm pretty lucky with them. My dad got his GPS in one, I found a GPS once but the server crashed as I was about to loot it (man was I livid). All in all I'd say anyone would be crazy to not hit up any deerstands they find. -
it's not a glitch, it's a server running basically the default settings. people turn that off after awhile which really annoys me but hey, I can play without it so it's not a big deal.

Why is call of duty or battlefield the go-to response for people that don't enjoy super realism? that's incredibly annoying sir and I'll ask you to stop. I don't like CoD or BF because they're just games that are shat out every 6 months to milk money out of the same idiots all the time. I play this game because it's got zombies in it and it's kind of fun, not because it's "realism" which I'd hardly say that any game to date has anything resembling it. This game has done a fairly good job but it's still not very realistic. Besides the point you were trying to make was that I shouldn't be playing this game because I'm not a fan of realism, as if that's the only reason anyone should be playing the game. I reiterate, I like zombies and some other aspects of this mod are what I like, the realism not so much. FYI I didn't play Arma2 before DayZ, that doesn't make me any less of a person so I'd appreciate a little more respect from my fellow man instead of this "lul u n00b go play cod u fag xd" crap, thank you.

[/quote'] I'm not much of a fan of realism, especially in a game about zombies but I bite the bullet on most stuff like damage and bleeding and eating/drinking. besides, most of the guns I like to use you can't see passed the damn gun when looking through Iron sights.

I refuse to play on servers that; Don't have crosshairs Don't allow 3rd person view Don't allow shift+left click map way-points Kicks for high ping (I play with someone from Australia a lot) The not knowing exactly where I am with a blue dot is fine just as long I can place a marker where I'm going and follow it via on screen indicator. Name-tags aren't that big of a deal either just an inconvenience.

I'm pretty sure loot doesn't despawn when you log in, but for loot to be there someone has to walk through the trigger for the loot to spawn which may be in or outside the building. So if you log into a building with no loot it just means either no one has been there yet or someone has taken it all already. Loot is not based on time as some people have said/assumed. It seems to be based on a trigger system, where you walk through a certain point near the building and it checks to see if loot is there already or not and if there isn't has a chance to spawn loot from various tables based on what building it is. so if you log in while in a building, you log in on the inside of the trigger which doesn't activate it. So people server hopping are taking a chance on logging into a server that has seen no one go into that building yet. Personally I think it's better to do it the other way. you pick up all the items out of a building and take them somewhere and dump them, usually in a big pile. Then walk a distance away(depends on the building and where the trigger is) and then come back to it and see what new stuff has spawned. I saw my dad do this for like 2 hours one night in the barracks at the airfield, it continued to spawn all kinds of stuff untill he found something he wanted, on the same server.

as LVG has said you need to run the beta Arma 2 Patch, you can't just install it either you have to find the shortcut in the game directory afterwards that says "launch Arma2 OA beta patch". use that from then on, regardless of where you bought your game. -

It doesn't even fit everyone that's come new to this mod since it got publicity. I never heard of arma II or BiS even before I got an email from my dad a few weeks back, talking about DayZ. I hate Call of Duty though, I can't stand what they're doing to the gaming industry in general so I refuse to play them. so the people spouting this crap are mostly just upset that their little club got popular I think. It happens all the time, something comes out, under the general radar of the internet cause it's on a game/website/community no one knows about. then someone in the media finds it and starts harping on about it and next thing you know we have a sensation or "flavor of the month" as it were. Problem is, everybody cries, everybody whines, people complain about the complainers, people complain about people complaining about the complainers. it's a vicious cycle that never ends because people always want better things. with the internet and social media the way it is there's a never ending source of ways to listen to people complain. You just gotta take it in stride and do your own thing, hell maybe even side with someone who complains about the same things you do. whatever you do just realize that things happen and there's just too many people in the world for everyone to love it and/or see it the way you do so; they complain. -
