Only a few people are moaning about the delay. The rest of us want communication from the team and didn't expect 2012 anyway. So before you go on a rant in the future that matches the utter uselessness oh those saying "FUCK THIS I WANT SA NAO!!!!111" You might want to check the way the topic is going first in my opinion. The mod above was quoting reddit posts to explain that Rocket was in NZ for the holidays (I guess he is back now) another let it slip that he believes (And to treat it as random talk) that he believes the delay is related to the clusterfuck of WarZ. And the general perception of the genre for the moment. The ones actually complaining about delay are getting nowhere in this topic.

What a silly and useless post. #1 Look at the last few pages. How many directly state delay as the reason they are disappointed? #2 In my opinion you lack understanding of what a minecraft model is. A public alpha is just that. SA might be missing features compared to mod at start to test core features in a less cluttered environment. The potential will take all 12 months remaining development time at the very least. Therefore what a delay is good for is internal testing to remove obvious bugs to allow a better testing experience going forward. #3 This is not about a free mod. It is about a product that we the potential customers are concerned about. There have been far too many projects in the past where silence led to a crappy product with obviously missing features or balance. So yes I am spending part of my off day to voice my concerns about the lack of communication from the team because I want SA to be an amazing experience. I wont comment on the validity of your global ban. However, Everyone should note that rocket said that SA uses Steam and VAC protection. Don't attempt to hack in SA (Well obviously not in any game for that matter) VAC bans are Steam account wide and the only time they EVER went back on a ban was an error years ago that was fixed by reloading a previous backup I believe. VAC bans are forever. As many attempted hackers in SA will find out.

Yes a dev. It really doesn't even have to come from rocket. Just someone on the team or the CEO. "Sorry for the delay! More info coming soon!" Is really all that has to be said.
-
That is unlikely to be the case. As others have mentioned the bigger issue is likely the change to server control and entities for everything. That is why a delay is fine. The lack of any word about it is not so great.
-
Yes the whole issue is NOT the delay. It is the lack of any form of communication. When the silence started I figured "Ohhhh Snap! Rocket is focusing on finishing up SA so he can smash the ripoff WarZ in the market" I still think it can be the case. However, This rumors of blood pressure and all that just make it sound like development has all but stopped. Something that would be helped if there was a 30 second tweet on either feed. I think their focus is matching the mod in playability before public alpha. Story and such comes much later in the process in my opinion.

Minecraft-Style = No Pre-Orders (Well unless you consider playing the Alpha and Beta builds to be Pre-Ordering) When it is ready for public testing it will appear for sale on Steam. So far there is no confirmed dates on when this is happening.
-
Going into hiding was indeed a poor decision in my opinion. And the holiday excuse does not work when a Tweet takes less than 30 seconds to make and there is more than Rocket at BI. The situation is unfortunate I can only hope with the holidays over Rocket will soon make an announcement.
-
Well then to be frank you did something that caused it to be stolen and you need to reevaluate your computer security in my opinion before even considering SA. Steam. That system handles all the payments and updates. An image on Rocket's twitter says 15USD but that may be nothing more than a joke considering it's a fake box.

SA uses Steam. So unless your steam account gets hacked you should be fine in my opinion. Just use basic security practices (Like never downloading a program from a site or group you do not 99.9 percent trust for one.) And SA uses VAC which is far superior to the other anti-cheat systems in my opinion as it was written in a time where hacking was destroying games like counter-strike. I was mentioning that rumor posted above from the Russians that the SA was coming on the 15th. That is why I said if it is true. And that is good line for them to tweet. It is unfortunate that the silence continues even tho the holidays are over.
-
They really do not need to be setting any kind of date right now. If that is true that will only make people more angry when that date passes by. The holidays are over so hopefully they are back to developing. However, The official silence continues which is unfortunate.
-
I don't think anyone is seriously going to say Rocket sold out. Especially considering that SA is most likely going to be far cheaper to start than Arma II CA. Just want to be told that development continues really. Even if it gets delayed to summer I will still say then. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
-
"Development Continues, Happy Holidays" Is my idea for a quick tweet. Took me about 10 seconds to type half asleep. To do that as a tweet maybe 30 seconds. No mention of WarZ nor dates. And I don't see anything wrong with them saying they would like to improve the testing experience. As long as development is continuing the delay is no big deal. Just say so please!

Please read my post again. Does the line I suggest even remotely show any plans? WarZ is not an excuse to remain completely silent. Or atleast a simple acknowledgement that 2012 was missed but development continues. And to be frank. When I get stressed when a customer nearly runs over me in a SUV at work I don't get to call in and say I can't come in. I have to continue to work and hope for the best. Otherwise the company could not function nor compete in the market.
-
Oh my geez again the issue is NOT delay. The issue is basically saying nothing about it. Only idiots would be complaining about delay if he or the CEO or ANYONE at BI who works on DayZ said. "We feel additional time is needed to present DayZ in a matter our customers hope and expect. We look forward to showing more in the new year! Happy Holidays!" Silence is not good... Period. Especially these days where a twitter takes less than 30 seconds to write and post. And no his silence (Atleast for now) Is not going to change my plans to purchase this game. It is just unfortunate and makes me feel sad as a customer.
-
Yep I do not want a rushed game. Even if it is a Minecraft model there are many things that can be done in closed beta first. That will make for better testing later when obvious bugs are taken care of first. The issue is suddenly we hear nothing. For a free mod this can be accepted but in this case I do not believe it is a good thing for a company to be doing this for a project that intends to make money. For me once the SA is out I will say "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!" (I intend to purchase a key for my friend as well) And I think many still feel that way. We are excited about SA and look forward to the awesome stories that will come from it. Until then though it is a companies responsibility to it's customers to keep atleast the basic amount of communication.

I have been reading the forums for some time but decided it is about time to start discussing. First, I believe there is a huge difference between those who actually still did or do expect a 2012 game. And those who are disasspointed in the lack of communication from the company. If you look at many of the posts in the latter part of the topic you will notice many are much more worried about the lack of communication. You may think. "Oh those needy greedy impatient folks just need to find another game for awhile" However, That is not the case nor a good thing to suggest. There has been many many projects over the years which have started down the path of no communication to abandonment or outright cancellation. Developers considered the greatest in their line of work vanishing with barely a word later. I personally do not expect SA quickly. Development takes time and I understand that fully. The issue is fully in the aspect that a company deciding to cut all communication on a project is a bad thing. All that needed to be said was this. "We apologize but we feel that spending additional time developing will lead to a better testing experience for our customers later. We look forward to showing more next month! Happy Holidays!" Would that lead to dissaspointment? Yes but almost everyone can understand in light of the WarZ fiasco that the need for a zombie game to have less bugs.
