You may consider it a joke. But for those who experienced the dark ages of counterstrike hacking it really did have a hell of an effect. VAC was built in an age where hacking was threatening to destablize Valves entire multiplayer lineup. (Much like what is happening with Arma II DayZ) And has been improved ever sence. VAC dosen't have to be perfect to be the best automated anti-cheat solution out there. There will never be an full on anti-hack team for a game that costs a one time fee of 15USD. So I wonder why you keep bringing it up. DayZ will never be free of cheats. But some here just don't see the huge effect the changes will have. Today you can run into cheats on an average day of DayZ. After 6 months of SA I wonder if it will even be a monthly showing.

Not a bit. A LOT. VAC, Steam and severside alone will make things hell for the hackers. Then you have development that takes security into account as opposed to the more open ARMA II. We should have more confidence in rocket in his team.

Yes but again the scale will be no where NEAR what it is today. VAC is going to make many hackers cry. Server side will mean their hacks will cost more and be easier to report to VAC. And then the fact that games are tied to steam means their 15 or whatever USD is gone for good once VAC banned.

And there is no evidence BI is giving up on it. Going with Steam exclusive and VAC should be evidence of that.

Server Model and VAC will already make things FAR FAR FAR worse for the hackers. VAC is especially potent as those bans are for good and will render the purchase virtually pointless. Then you've got rocket who has watched his work get tarnished by hackers and his incentive to make code changes to make it harder. So I personally am not too worried. They will try their hacks and get quickly VAC banned.

It would have gained some good testing reports (Like early Minecraft versions) However like you said the WarZ clusterfuck would cause so many to compare it and what was meant as a early testing relationship with customers would only lead to damage to the companies reputation. Yes folks. The WarZ fuckup has done THAT much damage to the genre. So BI gets to spend more development funds and time hunting for bugs that was previously slated to be handled by the community (The exchange being a nice low price for the help) The minecraft model is therefore mostly destroyed and time between builds for players will have to sadly grow. In my opinion the best thing to happen is a low bug initial SA version. Don't give Titov any chance to recover by pointing out DayZ flaws or bugs. Destroy them in the market so that the minecraft model isnt forever gone. Read above. He can let us know development continues and explain the silence. Yet the days of him showing off features a month or more before they are out are over thanks to the WarZ.

I don't think the Steam sale has anything to do with it. More that the WarZ has fucked up the open world Zombie Genre and that more bugs have to be fixed or else idiots will continue saying its the WarZ 2.0 or something. The minecraft model was a good thing until WarZ decided to fuck it all up.

It's an injector. Which is often regarded as a way to hack. While it may work okay with current games. I would seriously not try to attempt it with the Standalone which will be on Steam with VAC protection. VAC bans mean steam account wide. And it is permanent.

One thing has me grinning though. Once SA hits the market it is going to absolutely DESTROY the tiny remaining WarZ sales. And that idiot Titov can't complain because SA has been in the works far before his POS was announced. So yes now that I know development continues I do hope they will announce no dates and add as much and debug as they feel they can before public alpha must start for bug hunting.

It has become off topic and you aren't helping things by continuing this. The topic is about SA not any delusions you have about conflict of interest. "Development continues. Sorry about the silence and the delay! More info coming soon!" If he said that it would be great. I don't think many will still be disappointed after that in my opinion.

This discussion has veered WAY off topic. There is no evidence of a conflict of interest of the sig. And said mod would have been demoted had BI or Rocket or the team considered it to be one no? This isn't WarZ mods folks.

#1 I do not believe that would be legal. #2 While the situation with those two is terrible. There was no announced delays to DayZ based on it.

It is unfortunate that you consider our requests for info or even a simple tweet demanding. I consider the conduct of the silence unprofessional but I don't consider most posts in this topic to be demanding. Only that of concern and pointing out a dev imposed date has passed without a word. We are looking forward to DayZ SA and have not said anything about changing our purchase plans.

I see no reason to discuss such with you. Just be aware I am not reporting that person's sig as I do not believe it to be in violation of the ToS. My request stands. Especially considering the WarZ fiasco I do not personally believe that risking bad PR over a few extra sales of ARMA II would be worth it nor something BI would actually do. Then what was the point of your post? You seem to take issue with potential customers asking for development updates or just a simple "Development is continuing". This is the central SA topic and there has been nothing on SA for over two weeks and not a word for over 3 days of Rocket's own deadline. Tell me do you see many posts here calling for boycotts? or saying "Delay = No sale for me" Do you see ANY evidence of 50 percent potential sales due to this thread? We request info. This is the topic the requests are going into. If you don't like it why not go to the various others to get your daily dose of "We haz 40 helos and snipe from half the map lolzors" perhaps?

The report button is for use to report things that are against the forum ToS. The request was outside of that. And not a demand. As a mod I would have thought you understood that. The sig is not offensive nor is in need of any mod action. If the user wants to keep the confusing sig despite the request so be it. I only asked after a PM from a person confused about saying rocket was active.

Except we don't want everything we just want one tweet saying development continues. And the holiday excuse for not doing so is over. Going on a breather is fine. Not saying anything before hopping on a plane is unprofessional. Especially in an age where you can do tweets from even a cell phone. One thing to keep in mind. Unless I was reading it wrong. There will be less options when it comes to video so tricks that were being used to improve FPS in the mod may not work in SA. The good news is you can get a LOT of oomph from modern midrage Intel CPUs. And Nvidia graphics cards have pretty good value these days as well. In my opinion it wont break the bank to build or buy a good PC to run SA on if you know how to pick the right parts.

It's actually not a huge game. Not in comparison to ARMA III He has been given atleast 12 more months of assured development. ARMA games take far longer to make. #2 Nobody is asking for updates every day! Just ONE post delay update or even acknowledgment that development continues is all. No screenshots or videos or anything more than a 30 second twitter post. #3 This is the minecraft model. Suddenly appearing on steam would be STUPID beyond belief. There has to be a campaign to prepare people for the fact that it is public alpha and there will be bugs. Otherwise comparisons with the clusterfuck of WarZ will result. Holidays isn't an excuse to not even make a Twitter post. Also if you think about it. It makes it worse because the delay had to be known before the holiday started. I'm going to say it. Jumping on the plane without a word or even "Happy Holidays" simply wasn't professional in my opinion. No that isn't saying I won't still buy it. Then where is the word from one of the team? It does not have to be rocket. The CEO or a member of the team could say something. If they have been barred from doing so to cover lack of development that would be wrong in my opinion.

BTW I would not suggest using any kind of injector when SA comes out. You don't know if VAC will consider that cheating and Valve does not reverse VAC bans.

How can we be sure of that? All we know is someone it atleast working on Github for the mod. Nothing on SA except a troubling note of Rocket and blood pressure. If the delay means they get more time to fix obvious bugs before SA Public alpha that is good! However what isn't so good is if development has stopped and the time is not being used wisely. If I call up my boss and said. "My blood pressure is up I can't come in." I figure the response would be, "All this call did was raise my blood pressure. Make sure you are on time for your shift." Holidays are fine. But last time I checked Twitter is not down for them. There really is no excuse for not saying something in my opinion.
