I think Russian areas suits games like this, and the dilapidated post-USSR buildings, the grimeyness of buildings and cars, hell, even the weather. It fits the genre well. No offense to anybody russian of course. Not to mention, imagine the lag of a kabillion zombies spawning on a city based map... Sweet mother of god...

Hello, i am currently considering a small, 5 man server for me and some IRL freinds to play on. Don't get me wrong, i do love the danger of other players and busy severs but spending 3 hours to repair a car, then hide it 2km into a forest, only for it to be stolen anyway. If we see a heli, we don't even consider fixing it up because there is pretty much no point. Now, i am aware there are server hosting rules, which i have read, and i am aware there is a rule forbidding less than 30 Capacitys and Password Protection. But i was not sure if they are for everything, or just public hives. Obviously, my private one would be a Private hive. I can't seem to find a provider that sells custom limit servers, but there are several visable on Dayz commander? If someone can provide a link, that would be grand! Thanks in advance

Aplogies. Is there away to lower the slots? because even 30 is expensive. People do have 5 slot ones, i was wondering if anyone knows what providers can do this? Or am i going to have to charge my buddies? xD

I have to agree with this. It's the same mentalty for those groups on servers who like to get a car/truck, drive around, and kill everyone. Regardless if they are a threat or not, regardless of if the group needs supplies. Half the time i got killed by people, who didn't even loot my body.

I think this would be a good idea, it would have to be a server optional thing though, because on public servers all you would get is players camping around the parts or the industrial areas. It would be cool to be able to transfer map/server though, there's little point in helicopters for a lonewolf. But if i could hop over to Namalsk, that would be sweeeeeeeet

Yeah, i got the full pack of both, i have the settings up full. It annoys me that i can see all these gorgeous vistas, and then i go third person and my character is a blury mess... And those eyes in your sig... they don't stop.... piercing my soul....

Oh cool, that's nice. Sorry to be a Pita but do you know which textures in specific? Obviously i mostly want Character models and guns, and i'm a bit too cheap to part with £8 for textures, at least, in one purchase :P If ou could differenciate between them, that would be cool

General assumption is that a Hero get's his gear via looting, not shooting other players!

At the time i was signing up for my first real online game, which was some racing mmo. Also at the time i was playing pokemon saphire like there was no tomorrow, literely spending hours on end trying to catch Latias (For those that don't know, it takes an extremely long time to get in the same segment of map as it, as it moves around) So with my cunning 15 year old wit, i put Latias and Racer together.

If you purchase before 6pm Today, you can get it for only £15 (Both arma2 and co) from steam. I know you have slow internet, but it's your best bet!

Depends, some servers have mods, much like some minecraft servers have plugins. I've seen permanent humanity ones before

Now let me start by saying, I'm not anti PvP, i love it, as it gives alot of suspense apon aproaching somewhere, if it's just going to be zombies, or if someones lying in ambush. Trading gunfire is far more exciting than zombie chases :P I Started as a typical bambi, was freindly, but soon relised, that doesn't work in DayZ!. Because of this, i die alot. I've been held up, drove my car into a warehouse areas to loot, someguys told me to get out, i tried to drive but they got me. Fair enough, part of the game. I've been killed over loot, Hillarious incident with some dude with a sniper, he tried to shoot me in CqB with it, i only had an axe. He won. This is the tale of my last adventure. Aproaching One of the insignifcant towns that i can't recall the name of, hoping for food (My group of 3 where all starving) There's alot of zombies, my buddy goes down quickly, zombie gets a lucky hit - his legs broken, we have no morphine (Had to leave him for dead). Then they get my brother, i drag him all the way to the treeline, leave him, and mop out the conga line following us. I then go to bandage and Epi-Pen him, BAM Sniped. I Presume it was a AS50, as it was a 1shot kill. Dafuq? And on Side chat, "hahajust got this bambi from 1500m" If he was out to kill people, and killed my whole group, fine. But why wait untill 1 was dead, 1 was incapped, and 1 was trying to save the incapped one? Personally, i don't get this. It's one thing holding me up, atleast i get to go down fighting. Even if im gunned down in a town, and i haven't seen the shooters, that's still fair, i should have paid attention. But killing me from the x hilltops away, No chance of detecting you, or defending myself? You might as well have just run a script and telekilled me. I respawned, and carried on with the game. Such is life. Just that strikes me as a little unfair, that's all. I chose this forum, because whilst i don't make a habit of KOS, i figured you guys would have more interesting opinions on gunning down people from miles away, seenas killing players is your playstyle. Thoughts?

I was amoung tree's, bandaging up my teamate after dragging him up the hill. It wasn't a big city, it was one of the towns that has a name nobody remembers, we only visited because we where desperate for food. I'm suprised there was anyone watching it! That's good advice though.

Now that's cool, shoot someone who's a threat to you, or your buddies. Not the guy who's trying to heal his wounded buddy XD

I'm not disputing that it wasn't a good shot, i only heard the killing shot. I bet he laughed. Not that i could have done anything at that range with my Ak74... Not entirely sure what you mean by act if i'm always being aimed at, because my entire gameplay hiding under a pine tree doesn't sound terribly fun! I had one sniper give up on me, i did some pro dodging whilst he let off around 300 DMR shots (Not sure how he missed...) but everyone was telekilled shortly after i made it to cover O.o Don't think he took it aswell as your sniper did!

Some poor sod in the powerstation, he was on the top floor searching through a loot pile. I had my brother with me, between us we only had 1 hatchet. i had no choice, we needed that loot or we where done for. He had a makrov too, couldn't take the chance of him killing us if he found us outside. I hatcheted him, he shot me. But Axe > Pistol it seems! I'm so sorry SomalianPirate...

Me and My brother have been playing religiously over the last few days after picking it up in a steam sale. 1st attempt, He found a car and on the way to pick me up ran someone down who had a remington and a makrov on him. We where both killed in a northen town shortly later that day. 2nd Attempt, we are still alive - I Have already earned a bandit skin, from killing 2 players BOTH in self defence. 1st encounter somebody knocked my brother unconscience, and i battered him to death with a hatchet (Which at the time, was our only weapon - ). Now between us, i still have a trusty axe and he has the AK that the first guy dropped. We are now stuck, it's raining, cold and we really need to get into a town to earn supplies. But we don't have the firepower to get past zombies or players :/ Although, we have looted many towns and not found any weapons between us. Yet the wiki states things like the makarov are "Common"? Are we looking in the wrong places? We have searched The power station, the fire station, supermarket, hospital and schools in elektro, but still nothing. Are we just unlucky?

That's pretty impressive! I Take it you where on a quiet server, because from what i've heard that place is a sniper haven. We can't even get our jeep past Novy-stobard (Or something like that) Without being shot at. Last attempt to pass through the town resulted in having to drag one of our teammates about 200m into a forest to heal him.

Good advice, but we kinda rely on the nametags to spot other players (We are uber paranoid, the 2nd player i mentioned killing wasn't probably neccicary). But just through random mousing over we have been able to spot hidden zombies, UAZ's and on one instance a Pickup full of players... Are loot tables better on harder servers?
