Global Age verification system for servers

That is true, like i said i have met some mature 18-21 year olds. The problem with teenagers is they are still in a transition phase. It comes with the territory so to speak. And in any other case, this picture is still very true!

Global Age verification system for servers

Sure, i have met some "mature" 18-21 year olds but to be frank, that is the exception to the norm. And ALL of the youngsters i have met say they are "so mature for their age" but when it comes down to it they never are. Especially when they say they are! In the case of <18 year old i just can't take them seriously, i mean they can be fun to play with at times but it doesn't take long for their immaturity to shine through whether they like it or not. That's not to say there aren't any immature 21+ year olds too, heck i am one of them at most times when gaming because i play to enjoy myself in any way i see fit. What differs me from the "kids" is i CAN be mature if needed and stay mature for extended, tedious, boring periods of time. That's not something i expect anyone fresh out of college or who hasn't had his own home and life with full responsibilities and financial stability for a few years. That is what makes you mature, by becoming completely self sufficient and having "been there" without your mother coming around every other day to do your laundry or otherwise help you when you have the slightest problem like a overdue rent. You grow up when you learn to take responsibility for your own actions.
  3. No, if you actually type in russian it is translated (by google) through mandarin to german to swahili to english back to russian. And at every step of the way they use the most uncommon translations possible.

    Anti-Hacking suggestion

So without any knowledge in how the ArmA engine works or how scripting works or how the battleeye client is bypassed or that there already is a "banned item" list on servers that is somehow bypassed to (because they know how it works) you come with a proposal that would be one solution to the hacking problem? It's simple really, there's a lot of things happening on a server that is part of the normal operation of the mod. Hackers will find ways to abuse that even if they might not be able to spawn items outside the range of valid items they will still spawn an AS50, NVG's, rangefinder and all the other stuff for themselves and then use the map hacks and teleport commands in lieu with godmode and just headshot everyone for shits and giggles. At least when they clusterbomb cherno you know they are operating, it's the assholes (like a certain frankie) that try and hide the fact they are cheating that are the real problem and you can't really stop them easily because they (at least try to) blend in. The only way that i can see as a possible solution is to make the beclient binary compile differently for every single system making it impossible to inject their NOP codes (No operation) into the process that is designed to stop the injection of scripts in the global command chain in the first place. Then the beclient will stop 99% of all hacks used today. That still doesn't stop the remaining cheats like decryption of the network traffic and decoding of the data sent between client and server. (Which allows them to draw a map of all players, vehicles and tents on the map as well as heli crash sites and anything else you can think of that exists as an object in the game) But once again, if the hackers really want to hack they will find the offset in the randomly compiled beclient too and inject none the less. In other words, they will always be one step ahead of any countermeasures you take. Which leaves the only option that has ever worked well... A diligent server admin catching the cheaters and banning them manually. You can also join a strict whitelisted server, thus making it too much work for a cheater to join. For instance, there is one server here where you have to leave your social security number to join it. I doubt any cheater would be willing to provide that to hack on that server because god knows what's going to happen to such a person IRL if found out to be cheating... *BOOM, HEADSHOT*

    Anti-Aborting Suggestion.

I hope you are aware that you responded to a ~6 month old thread right? Either way, if you are in such a predicament that you can't stay in the game because your parents/wife/husband/kids/dog/friends/toilet/whatever keeps you unable to play for more than 2 minutes at a time you have other issues than dying in the game. In short, you may as well not have a PC to play on to begin with if you can't find a stretch of time for yourself. I have seen how players run with a horde of 20 zombies behind him only to hit abort and reconnect to have the zombies despawn. I have seen how players who hear gunshots just abort and wait 5 minutes before coming back into the game. I have seen how they abuse the log in/out mechanics to know where they are at any given time on the map. (The text at the bottom right of the screen, that should go separately though) The 15 second combat timer we have now is too short, if someone knocks you unconscious to kill you later or rob you/whatever you still have a high chance to survive if you abort right there and then as most maneuvers take more than 15 seconds if the shooter lost sight on you when you where knocked out. If it where up to me (which maybe thankfully it isn't) your character would stay in game sleeping whenever you log off and if you wanted to switch servers you would have to wait 2-5 minutes before being able to do so.

    Trip line with bells.......

Actually i want to expand on the idea. If you find tripwire (a separate item) you can attach almost anything to it such as tin cans, road flares, grenades, shotguns... etc. Sure it would be pretty powerful in some cases but the trip wire would be consumed after setting the trap up so you better think about when you actually would need it. On a side note, we already have bear traps. But of course they will be spotted easily.
  7. Look up and press ALT? Just like in the real world... And it's not tall grass you are prone in, as such you won't be hidden at distance. You can try it in real life for yourself. Have someone lie flat so all they see is grass in front of them. Then go 100-300 meters away and look at that person from afar. You will see him really easily and he will still have a bunch of grass in his face.

    Hatchet as a secondary?

Let me spell it out for you since you don't seem to read very well... B A L A N C E bal·ance [bal-uh ns] noun, verb, bal·anced, bal·anc·ing. noun 1. a state of equilibrium or equipoise; equal distribution of weight, amount, etc. That is, you have a state of equilibrium through the distribution of the weapon systems. You can carry an AS50 in your backpack while you use your hatchet. Taking out the AS50 will take slightly longer than if you where using a pistol and that is the downside to using the hatchet. You could just as well carry a Bizon and have the AS50 in your backpack or wise versa. You can carry a pistol OR a flashlight but not both. If you find a G17 it has a flashlight attached to it but finding the G17 requires that you take a risk and go into the military structures around chernarus to find one. (Though, since they can be found in deer stands the risk vs reward aspect is debatable) You can have an alice pack on you but it's going to make you stand out more in tall grass etc. You can bring lots of food and drink with you but then you won't have as much room for other items. Of course you can always eat and drink your food when you need the space but then you don't have lots of food with you. You can use an M9SD pistol to silently kill zombies but you need to hit them in the head to be the most efficient and you only have so many rounds. this of course allows you to have your sniper/assault rifle handy in case another player comes over to do something stupid. The hatchet is designed to be a one shot zombie killing weapon without much effort and it has unlimited ammo too. If you where to make it a sidearm (realistic as it may be) it doesn't do well for game balance if it stays as powerful as it is now. So in other words, you either nerf the hatchet so much that people won't want to use them even when it's a sidearm or you leave it as is because it is "balanced" that way. Though, i don't really think the hatchet is balanced right now. Even in the primary slot it should at times take to strikes to kill a zombie with it. As it is now i can stop in the middle of a field and split zombie head after zombie head as long as they don't lag or glitch too much. It is already super effective (at the obvious cost of not having your weapon ready) and if i could carry it in my sidearm slot then i would never bother picking up a pistol and DayZ would just be one step closer to regular ArmA Free-for-all with a hunger system and weapon spawnpoints.
  9. plrsniper

    Handcuffs, zipties and blindfolds.

On a side note, as for zip ties used on the wrists. I would make sure to add a smaller pair to their thumbs as well. So if they try and snap loose like in the video then guess what happens to their thumbs... *evilgrin*
  10. plrsniper

    Firecrackers

Sounds good but isn't it already possible to lure zombies away with empty tin cans and the like? I have never tried it because i just down all the zombies with my hatchet and thus don't need to worry about them anymore.
  11. plrsniper

    Hatchet as a secondary?

A lot of time? It takes 3 seconds to drop your gun, another 2 to right click the hatchet in your gear to bring it up as a weapon and then 2-3 seconds to reload it. A total of 7-8 seconds which is pretty quick in my eyes and you normally have time to make the switch when indoors. It's about game balance, not about weapon size. The hatchet is a superb zombie killer but you are at the mercy of other players if you run into one with a hatchet in your hand. Putting the hatchet in the pistol slot would make you dead silent around zombies all the time and still have really quick access to your primary weapon. That would make the hatchet too good and it would need to be nerfed.
  12. plrsniper

    Hatchet as a secondary?

No they are not, you can have a rifle in your backpack. And the hatchet can be carried in the toolbelt slot. Even if you don't have room in your backpack you always have the possibility to drop your gun somewhere and use the hatchet for a while.
  13. plrsniper

    Hatchet as a secondary?

I don't agree with that. So that's one less in your "almost entire community" clause. And i don't agree with the OP either, the hatchet is OP against zombies. So the only way this would work is if the hatchet is as weak as the crowbar. That said, you would now be forced to use pistols to kill zombies and the hatchet would become utterly useless for fighting with. As you would have to use a pistol you would once more be at the mercy of all zombies hearing you as well as other players.

    Who killed me?

No... Just no! I killed two fully kitted guys the other day and i didn't want them to know who i was so they could hunt me down all day. Now sure, it wouldn't matter because i don't give away my position on sidechat anyways but in the odd chance they know where i have been or are going to be i don't want them to take advantage of the fact they know who killed them. However, the guys i killed where part of the clan that runs the server so i am sure someone looked it up in the logs and later looked up where my camp was because my camp was well hidden and undisturbed for days until after that day. Then it suddenly was raided and my cars had all it's tires blown out. (A normal person would take my vehicles with him but i am sure they have enough vehicles as it is since they run the hive and can spawn stuff and have been playing since before anyone every played on that hive)

Why would you need increased melee damage vs zombies? The only two melee weapons are the crowbar and the hatchet. The crowbar takes something like 5 hits to kill a zombie with, in other words NEVER pick that POS up because you are just going to get roflstomped by zed. The hatchet one shots any zombie so i don't see how that needs a damage buff... And you find 100 hatchets to every crowbar (jk) so why... just why?

    Remove Wilderness Spawn

I can't take you seriously when you clearly don't know what you are talking about. If you run east from that "wilderness" spawn then eventually you get back to the map. I am not saying it should happen, it's called the "Debug Forest" where everyone who dies end up until they abort, disconnect and hit OK. If a character gets stuck there it's because they did something strange after dying or because the server / mod had a very bad day and forgot to not save your characters position out there. Can happen... But i re-iterate, the debug forest on chernarus is quite a way out west and walking east will land you back on the map. And before you say "ERHMAGHERD Y U NO UNDESTND ENGGLIS I SIAD YOU CAN'T SE LNDMRK OR NETHNG HUE HUE HUE" you can simply ask someone where the sun is on the sky and it will be between east-south east and west-south west depending on the time of day. So pretty much, place the sun on your right side of your body and start walking. Either you die of starvation on the way to the map or you completely miss the map. (because you suck at navigating) And once more, i am not saying this should be happening but if it does then tough luck, at least you can fix it yourself. Don't act like it's impossible because that just shows you don't know the game. EDIT: Actually, the chosen name for the debug zone out there is the "debug plains" but either way, it's a debug zone... If you are "killed" there after you die in DayZ then you can get stuck out there. For instance, a hacker can teleport out there just to kill people there for fun. Or you could find a way to navigate out there yourself and kill people there. In either case, it's a bannable offense to kill players in the debug zones.
  17. Now i read up on the condition and it's called Simulation Sickness, it seems it's more common than i thought. I have only met one person myself that experienced motion sickness from a game. (the first Delta Force game) I understand how it's possible to get motion sickness from a game and how distancing yourself from your character in 3rd person can help mitigate the cause and effect of simulator sickness. With that now made clear, i still don't agree with 3rd person view in ArmA / DayZ. This game is a simulator, it is meant to immerse the gamer in the virtual world and give him as many realistic restrictions and options as possible while keeping it at a game level (read, fun for all) and in my opinion, 3rd person goes directly against that. I understand it might be impossible to make it so people suffering from simulator sickness doesn't get affected in first person and it's the sad reality we live in. If you are born with a disability then that's really sad for you but that doesn't automatically mean everybody has to cater to your handicap. For instance, if you are born with partial blindness does that mean you should be given wallhacks or ESP to be able to clearly distinguish players from the environment so you can play the game? Does that mean everybody should be given wallhacks and ESP to level the playing field? Does that make the game fun anymore? Why do we have ghillie suits in DayZ when there are thousands upon thousands of players who suffer from varying degrees of color blindness? Me included! Yes, that's right... I have slight color blindness but i don't bitch and moan about not being able to see different shades of color in a bush. I just deal with it, i have learned to memorize what such a bush should look like normally and if it doesn't look like normal (in semi greyscale like color tones) then i take another good look at that bush. If anything, it has made me a better gamer in my ability to see other players as i have focused on my weakness and trained to overcome it. And before you go "bwah bwah bwah, motion sickness is not the same thing!" i can tell you that as a kid i suffered from motion sickness when riding in cars too. I puked my guts out all over the console when i was riding with my grandfather who worked as a postman. I begged him to stop the car but he didn't understand why until i presented my breakfast over his gearlever. That too i have learned to overcome to some degree but whenever i ride i a car i have to be able to look out a forward facing window at all times or i get motion sickness. That doesn't meant i bitch about not sitting in the front seat, i only ask kindly for inhabitants in front of me to leave a gap where i can look out the window in case i get sick. I have never gotten motion sick from playing games, i have gotten nasty headaches from them though. I simply step away from the game if that happens. I don't expect the developers to solve my problems by adding a handicap mode to their game, i simply overcome the obstacles or refrain from playing if it gets too much. ... With all that said, the #1 reason 3rd person is on in DayZ is so people can use it to peek around / over walls so they have perfect cover while looking at others running about and not being able to see you. Ask any server admin and your answer will not be likely to be Simulation / Motion sickness related. DayZ should be forced into first person by default and if the playerbase really needs 3rd person then they should mod DayZ to allow for 3rd person on unofficial private servers. If it's such a big deal then those servers will have long waiting queues to get into. There are still a great deal of players who will stay with the original mod / game though because they WILL learn to play without 3rd person. And get better at the game instead of relying on a hackish feature that wasn't meant to be used like it is. Another option that i can sort of agree with is, if your character is anywhere near a wall his camera moves in right at his body and doesn't provide any vision asides from the character and straight forwards beyond the characters viewpoint. In other words, you better switch to first person view if you wanna be in a bush or sit around a corner watching people.

    Remove NVG and TWS

Just make them consume batteries, I am glad the TWS are gone because those have no realistic use and completely negate any cover you can possibly find in a treeline. (Not sniping... Trying to move in to a town etc) But you should have to think twice before wearing your NVGs to stalk noobs. They should be reserved for self preservation against others with NVGs. EDIT: And flying helicopters at night of course...

    A voice to a face

It's a mod that uses the ArmA 2 dll "API" (Application Programming Interface, previously accessed through dsound.dll as a "hack") to communicate with the Teamspeak 3 client application and uses Teamspeaks 3D sound capability to place other players voices at their relative point of origin in the game. So if i talk on your left side then you will hear me in your left ear. The sound positioning is extremely accurate and i can pinpoint a person from a lineup of ten if i stand no more than 10 meters away. You immediately hear who is talking. (And their moths move too, just like the ArmA voip. And TS3 has superior audio quality over ArmA voip) As you move closer to other people you hear them better, just like in ArmA voip but this is much better and the louder you speak the further away you are heard. (That is, it senses how loud you talk so if you whisper you won't be heard very far at all) But there is also a function that allows you to talk in a normal volume but limit the distance you are heard. (Short, medium long etc) In short, it's a replacement for ArmA voip and it also supports radios with channels. A small radio with 700 meters range, another with 5 km range and two more with 20 km range. (And you can set up relay stations to even further that range) May not be the best example but here is a video with ACRE and a guy teaching them how to use the radios.

    Perk/Experience System

So what you are saying is you want to build muscles and stamina as you go along? That sounds fine, if you spend lots of time running you won't grow tired as fast due to your fitness levels and you may run slightly faster too. But that should happen really quickly like you said, 1 game day tops in my opinion. Where 1 game day is something like playing for 2-4 hours running up to the NW airfield and back down to cherno/elektro. This is still a game, i don't want to spend my time doing side quests to stay competitive with the others. If i die it takes me 2 hours to gather enough gear to fight veterans head on, those 2 hours are punishment enough for me dying. I really don't want to get killed because i know how much running around it involves for me to get some decent gear back where i can actually fight a real enemy instead of splitting 200 zombie heads in 30 minutes with a hatchet. EDIT: Forgot to mention a few things... No aim boosts or damage boosts necessary and pretty pointless really considering you have near perfect aim if you rest your character for 30-60 seconds after a sprint. And all non pistol / smg class guns kill in 3 shots tops anyways. And instead of calling it perks, simply call it character building.

    Realistic & Fair Weapons Suggestions

No i will not read your post again because you haven't done your research. Let me give you a few examples of what happens to someone who is shot with various weapons in certain situations. First example: During the Kosovo war a soldier who was running towards his enemies was hit with a bullet (5.56x45 Nato) in the head, it landed really badly and split the left side of his skull open. Half his brain was mush and hanging out. The soldier kept running for about 50 meters before finally falling flat dead. He most likely didn't realize he had been hit... Actually, i don't think it mattered if he realized or not, he was most likely already brain dead and stuck in running mode. Brain kept doing what it was doing until it finally shut down completely and dropped to the ground. Do you think this soldier would be able to fight back? Considering he was running completely "normally" with half his skull blown off? Unfortunately I do not have a source reference, i was told this story by a peacefighter that was there and saw it happen. Second example: During the Gothenburg Riots (EU summit, 2001) a young boy (19 yo Hannes Westberg) was throwing rocks and cobblestone at the police. One policeman had been struck already and the rest where trying to defend the downed policeman. The police then fired warning shots to scatter the protesters but Hannes refused to stop throwing rocks and a policewoman shot him in the right side of his gut. ( )As you can clearly tell by the video he reacts immediately and (not shown on this video but i have seen the source video in the past, can't find it now) it takes no more than 30 seconds before he is lying on the ground in pain and a state of shock. It's not an immediately life threatening shot but he is incapable of doing anything useful. The weapon used was a Sig Sauer P226, 9x19mm parabellum. Third example: I don't remember when, where or what happened but it is in the US and a drugged up deranged man is being chased by police in his car. All of a sudden the man stops, walks out of the car and starts shooting at the police officers. They unload into him and hit him about 10 times before he finally starts to stumble and fall face first into the asphalt. He as most likely going on adrenaline alone, no officer where harmed in the firefight and only two shots from the assailant actually hit anything of worth. The windscreen of the police cruiser with the footage. After the two first shots he was hit by the return fire and could no longer aim at the policemen. ---- So far all i have shown you are examples where the victim hasn't died right off. So how does it support my case in any way? Apart from the nato round to the head which is a special case... The remaining two victims where shot with pistols. One shot to the gut and 10 shots to the upper body. In all cases the victims became combat ineffective right away. It doesn't matter what you are shot with (unless it's a bb gun or otherwise extremely weak round), you will not be able to return fire effectively. Now, some other (collaboration from much research, which i have done and you not so much) examples of what happens to you when you get shot in various parts of your body with various types of weapons and ammo used in DayZ. L85A1, AK74, M16, M4 (5.45×39mm M74, 5.56x45 mm NATO) These are the standard issue assault rifles of the UK, Russian and US armies. A shot to the foot is going to break your bones in the foot, you will be unable to walk in a balanced manner on said foot and depending on circumstances (adrenaline etc) you will feel pain within a few seconds of being shot and be unable to put pressure on said foot without screaming your balls off. Of course you will need to stop the bleeding eventually or you may bleed to death. A shot to the leg may be fatal if hit in the artery, you will react rather quickly and your muscles may cramp in that leg or otherwise become rather ineffective at releasing and contracting as they should. See it as having your leg replaced by jello or alternatively a pogo stick. Pain levels depend on what was hit, soft tissue will feel more like someone hit you with a baseball bat and jabbed a hot iron into your leg. If the bone was hit it will rather feel like someone is grinding your leg down with rough sandpaper. A shot to the guts... Ever had the feeling your stomach is about to explode and at the same time puking out a coconut? Accompanied with someone pouring gasoline down your throat and simultaneously shoving a lit road flare up your rectum through your intestines? You are out for the count in seconds and will most likely die unless you are extremely lucky and get medical attention within the minute. You WILL need antihemorrhagics, large doses of morphine and bandaging right away and pressure applied to the area or suffer bleeding to death and even then you may not survive the first few minutes. A shot to the chest, if it's in the heart you are dead in seconds and i can't possibly describe it because i have never seen or heard of any survivors. If it's the lung then, aside from crippling pain (like the gut pain), imagine having a horse sitting on you while trying to breathe and at the same time choking of your own blood... You will get dizzy withing 30 seconds from lack of oxygen (as you automatically exhale the moment you are hit) and in many cases you pass out right away. You will most definitely not be able to aim at anything and even less move after 30 seconds have passed. Any other region of the chest will be almost as bad but in rare cases you may be capable of doing something... Just not fight back effectively. A shot to the shoulders. Actually, this is one of the few regions on the body where you can be hit without becoming combat inefficient. (SURPRISE!) But it's still going to be painful and once again, depending on your state of mind it can take between 1 seconds and a minute before you realize it. Arms? Well, you actually stand a high chance of survival! And unless it's your shooting arm you will even be able to fight back just fine! A shot to the head? Well, roll a dice, if you roll a seven then you may survive the next minute and simply end up in a coma and spend the rest of your life as a vegetable. Now, the rest of the weapons? Bigger caliber means more damage, more pain, effects taking hold sooner and in general more blood loss and carnage. So i simply won't list them. But what about pistols? For the sake of simplicity i am going to cover them all no matter what caliber they have. Foot? Stab yourself with a pitchfork and you have a good idea of what it feels like. It's not going to stop you from fighting or running though but you may eventually feel a lot more pain and even bleed to death. If you hit bone it's going to hurt a lot more and you may not be able to stand on that foot after a few seconds due to the intense pain it causes. Leg? Same thing as the foot really unless it's the artery, stab yourself with a pitchfork through and through. It may or may not hurt as much as the foot due to the larger tissue area. It really depends but one thing is sure, if you hit bone then it's going to be near impossible to stand on that leg. Guts? This is actually just as bad as with any firearm but due to the lesser velocity and caliber it won't do as much damage. In short it will take longer for you to die from it. Chest? Same as with assault rifles but once again, takes longer to die from it. A heart shot will still be as fatal and as fast though. Shoulders? Painful but you will live... You might not be able to shoulder your weapon though and may find it hard to move your arm etc. Arms? Same as shoulders. Head? Well, unlike assault rifle shots. Head injury from pistols actually have some degree of survivability but you won't be fighting for a couple of weeks, if ever again! So what about shotguns? Namely pellets? That is a very range specific question. At point blank it's going to blow your limbs off or leave a big hole in your chest, stomach etc. To the head at point blank is going to leave a stump and what can be described as a red rose with a juice fountain. NASTY STUFF REALLY! At range however, think of it as having a cat with really large claws ripping through your body all at once. I am not talking about scratches here but actually clawing through your skin into the muscles. Did you know what kills the duck/bird/rabbit/whatever when shot by pellets? It's not from the damage cause directly but from the shock alone. It's heart stops flat and the animal is knocked unconscious. Which is kinda similar to what happens to a human being that is shot by a particularly large caliber and/or powerful round. But that can also happen with regular rifles from the shockwaves that travel through the body. Shotgun slugs? Same thing but much different, it's still a shock weapon but the slug will of course penetrate deeper and cause much more damage ensuring a much greater effect on larger targets. (Such as humans and large animals) The rest i leave up to you to figure out. Needless to say at this point but you REALLY should do some research. If anything, most weapons in DayZ are underpowered...

No, DayZ is a skill based game. Where you learn how something works and use it to your advantage. It has a steep learning curve for a reason and as such doesn't need a leveling/perk/experience system making everyone who has been playing since the dawn of time win over much smarter and skilled players based on time invested alone. The other day i shot two fully kitted veterans with a 1866 Winchester and relieved them of their thermal scoped weapons, AS50's, coyote backpacks, NVG's, rangefinders and whatnot. Since i haven't actually used all that kit in DayZ before i am sure i wont be very effective with it but once again, i will learn through experience with that too. Not by how much time i grind with it but how much i learn to be smart with it.
