Getting off the drama of the last page and a half. I would like to see a limited offline character progression. What do I mean about this? For about 30 minutes after a player logs out your characters water, food, blood if injured continues to drop. Now seeing that your character would not be moving water and food will drop by a very small amount in that time. However it is the blood loss that will be the major problem and this is the reasoning behind it. Combat logging Shooting a player and watching them vanish is an annoyance, because that guy can stay logged offline safe in the knowledge that his character is safe. Then log back on 2-3 hours later bandage himself and move on, but if the character is still losing blood, when he logs back in his character will be dead. This should hopefully reduce combat loggers or reduce people combat logging and waiting out the attacker. -

Ok war Z might have changed steams policy on testing, but steam generally don't have a testing team or any product testing before they allow a game to be sold through steam. That does not include valve games. -

What do you mean zombie, I wanna do it to a player MAWhahahahahahaha Anyhoo, I was thinking when they do release the game. Can they make sure they have an enormous great big message pop up that appears when you click buy game, that says. Hey we have not finished this game it is a beta WORK IN PROGRESS, there will be bugs, there will be glitches, at times it will be unplayable. So in clicking ACCEPT you should remember this. You will help us by reporting bugs in a civil way. Using more than the THIS IS BROKE FIX IT, Sentence. And after they click accept another pop up appears saying OK ASSHOLE you got the warning and if we are going to see you on the forums bitching and moaning. We will find you, we will break your fingers and we will send you to Greece. Or you know, words to that effect. -

We're only 1-2 months past a speculated release date and some people are hitting the panic button, head for the hills already. If we are still sitting here a year from now wondering why we still don't have a SA, I will then start asking questions as to why it has not been released. So put the pitchforks away, extinguish the torches and relax. -

I have been away for a few days and just checking in on news about the release. So nothing has changed, we're still waiting for news on the CB test and no streams have gone up yet :( Oh well back to gaming So when he goes to climb the mountain, can you please make sure he is covered in bubble wrap and connected to at least 2 or 3 ropes. I mean we don't want any unfortunate accidents and the Day z coming to a girding halt or not reaching it's full potential. -

You mean your GUID and why would anyone steal that? It would be easier for a hacker to get a new one and a scripter wouldn't know how to get at yours. -

I don't believe it will be fixed, as this is released to the zombie AI. Now I could be very wrong about this, but I think a dev said that they are working on fixing the zombies/infected behaviour and AI. However this would take some time and won't be ready for beta release of the SA. -

My opinion on Day z spawns. Hmmm this is a hard subject to look at, as Rocket will be looking to make the game as friendly to all players and not just the Elitists. He, from what he is saying is not looking to sacrifice good game mechanics to please the casual gamer. He is looking to create a epic game, one that will be remembered on how good it is and not just for how many sales it makes. So with that in mind how do you approach a delicate subject like re-spawns. My opinion is team spawns is a no no, this breaks the very nature of what Day z is all about. One interesting thing comes to mind, Rocket mentioned(I think it was Rocket forgive me if I am wrong) that items could be broken if they are shot. NVG if shot in the head. So whats to say your gear would be any good, even if you managed to get back to your dead body. It is something that adds to the mix and has to be considered. So what other spawns could exist? Random one's is more fitting of Day z, as you could spawn 4k away and the hassle of getting back adds to the danger or you could get a lucky respawn. The discussion of, well you could have a squad member come pick you up and is unfair or wait by your body till you get back, is kind of nullified as that's one of the reasons you play in a squad. Field hospital re-spawn! What do I mean by this. Well your squad could pick up your body either carry it or put it in a car and take it to a field hospital and when you re-spawn at the hospital your stats(because that is important to some people) are the same plus 1 death. You're reunited with your squad and your gear, which could be less damaged if you spawn this way. That's the Pro's of this spawn method, the Cons would be that you might pick up a disease spawning this way and it requires regular doses of anti-biotics for a few in-game days to heal. A special item might also be needed a defibrillator or a few blood packs. Plus the danger of securing the location from other players. Some might say that this is a team spawn, but not really as it will take effort, time and resources to pull off and could end in a squad wipe if another team is using the same field hospital. Should be noted if you do choose a random spawn, you then can't use the field hospital option. Cool down re-spawn They could add a cool down time to re-spawns. After you die you have to wait 15-30 mins before rejoining the same server. This would be a hell of a downside to dying and yes like it or not, adds to the danger of dying in the game. I am not a fan of this idea, but looking at all side of the discussion you have to add things you don't like. I mean you can't stack the game with everything if your own favor and hell the cool down could be 24 hours lol :( Safe zone re-spawns This idea is more for a solo player or players not looking to get ganked on a fresh spawn, where they can spawn into a designated areas which will change daily, hourly or every 5 minutes. These areas will be far from other players about 1k, they will only show up on the re-spawn map and will be around the coast or within 500 meters of the coast. I kind of like this idea, I would like to expand on it more, but I would like to hear what you guys think. Oh and it should be noted if multiple choices are added for spawning. Make sure once someone starts to pick a spawn option they have to continue that choice. Edit: Could Rocket or a Mod, change the thread name to "Where is the standalone and Standalone Discussion". I am not a fan of hijacking threads, but I am also not a fan of going off topic. However since we kind of have in this thread :P and we are being very peaceful about it and since a lot of people are contributing it would be nice to carry on discussing things we would like in the standalone. :) -

My opinion on the night light in Day z is that it could be more realistic. What do I mean by this. Well because of the man made artificial light it causes light pollution. So when you are in the rural countryside with very little to no artificial light blanking out the night sky. You will find the sky is brighter and you can see better at night, because of the suns light being reflected off the moon and because of the light being generated by Celestial objects. Seeing that Day z is set in a time where no artificial light exist any more. So surely the Day z night sky should reflect this. I am not talking about making it so easy you can run around and be able to read a sign from 100 meters away, but you should be able to see objects, building etc etc at a darkened grey at distance, which adds dull colours the closer you get. I have tried to play at night in day z and at times I can't even see my characters arm, which puts me off the night time stumble around looking for stuff. Call me a wimp, but I play the game for fun. If I wanted to play with a blank screen I would switch it off and save myself some energy cost. I understand some people like that sort of thing, but this is my opinion on the matter. Edit: Also it would be good to see a lunar cycle, so that less light is reflected off the moon at different cycles and with cloud cover adding to the mix. -
I am glad they have been released and this should never have escalated further than it did. I hope they are doing well and the rediculous charges are dropped and they are returned home soon! However does the Greek government have a sence of humour. They were released after 128 days, it's like another sequal to 28 days later.

The word you are looking for is Sewing, you saw wood and sew clothing. I like the idea, I think it is similar to what Rocket has mentioned, that clothing and other items are customisable. I hope this is balanced with a weight limit or we could see people with 40+ extra pockets carrying 6 weapons, 200 rounds of ammo, enough food to feed himself for a month, 3 spare tires, an engine, 3 glass, a cow head(Eh) the list gets stranger, but you should get my meaning. They could add a scale, no items you run at 100% and as you add items your base movement speed goes down, as in true to life. -

While I can agree with you, the lack of group chat in-game makes it hard for people to chat to each other without the people you are try to kill or defend yourself from is a masive problem. Ok in real life if I was with a group of people and we wanted to talk without others hearing, we would whisper or use hand signals to each other, but in Day z that is not possible. I learned very quickly in this game that communication is key to living or dying. I used to play solo alot, then I started to team up. In one situation I was chating to a random guy in side that was playing solo and we decided to team up. A few bandits decided to go to our meeting point to kill us. Now bare in mind we had just spawned and carrying no gear, so these guys were just looking for easy kills. So we met at Balota and as we were just entering the tower, when they sprang their trap. Losers couldn't even shoot, we found a few weapons(Luckily) killed 1 bandit who decided to come and get us. Now our only way of communicating was side or direct chat. As these guys were right outside and they could read and hear everything we were planning. We decided to use Skype and used the direct chat to set a trap by laying out false plans. Ok we used an advantage by setting a false plan through the in game chat, while we planed our true moves through Skype. These guys looking to kill us were not exactly playing fair either. They were using an advantage by reading or listening to the only communication available in the game. If there was a group or friend chat in-game I would use that, but seeing as there is no chat like that. I will happily use a 3rd party communication program. If they add a full chat system to the SA and even if you need a radio to use it, I will use it. Until then I will use Skype, vent, TS3 or anything else. -

Yeah am a proper cheater, got my TS3, vent, skype, IM, steam chat and smoke singles all running at the same time :P -
I found a montain dew can in a s*** server once. I call it a s*** server, because I shouted out in chat I found it. It was explained the montain dew only spawned once and an admin said it was his end game drink. I then shouted out try and find me then. the admin ported to my location killed me and then kicked me from the server.

Interesting idea, but one that probably won't be used. I mean if I want to let people in my group know about things I would leave a message in ts3, vent or skype. I wouldn't leave a message in game about a loot spot for all the world to find and read. -

I would like to see more animals in the game. I like the idea of have preditoral animals in the game, but they should have a default run from gun fire. As having a gun fight with someone and a bear comes up behind you and starting to chew on your ass would be annoying. Also bown bears that inhabit the region the world is set in, are mostly scared of humans. Boars on the other hand should attack if challenged. Why I always think of different things after I post. Ok it would also be good to see infected animals. I would imagin in a real day Z. The infected would attack any living creature, so having infect animals seems logical -

That is weird how we have almost the same spec except ramm and you have nvidia. The GTX 580 is about the same as the 7970, I wonder if day z or Arma favours the Nvidia cards or drivers -

Thats ok, And I tried every setting still never get more than 60 fps. On thinking about it I have never tried it in admin mode @chickenfighter Hmmm what system are you running? -

Yeah Fraggle if you know or can ask. Is the Day z mod FPS locked at 60 FPS as I have two machines one with a 7950 and the other with a 7970 both have i7 cpu and both have 32GB of ramm and on both machines I can't get higher than 60 fps and have tried different settings. If it is locked are they going to lock the SA as well?
