    A GODDAMN TRAIN

A normal train is a bad idea A handmade metal cart that rides on the tracks powered by gasoline is pretty cool.
  2. I like the base idea, but the flaw to it is that the servers will probably eventually get overflooded with everybody creating "objects" inside the server. Obviously I'm expecting that the bases don't disappear on a server restart because if it did there is no point of building one in the first place. But it would be a nice addition as long as it doesn't have any problems system wise. For the DC prevention. I do not agree with the fact that you can lose a random item, mainly because I don't know how much times I've been disconnected from a server due to connection issues, whether it was my fault or the server. I do like the idea that you stay stationary for 10 seconds or so even after you try to disconnect so that it prevents running away (don't get me wrong I never kill anybody other than people who start firing at me first). I think if the 10 second count down is not possible with Alt+F4 exits, just leave it be, and just implement the normal 10 second count down exit.

    Passwords for tents

Password tents are silly, but Premade number combinations on lockers is a good idea imo. Basically render a random password that's unique for every server and make accessible lockers or safes. The person who wants to access it would need to guess the right combination (which may be difficult) or to find a random item spawn that tells you what the combination is. Its realistic, its possible, and its a good way to implement loot safes. But for the tents, i don't agree.

Correct ammo use for suppressed guns?

Actually, suppressed pistols are acutally much silent then you would really expect. Sure its not hollywood "Phew!" sound, but its more like a "fsss" sound which is actually really, really small, and you wouldn't hear it a half a kilometer away. It all depends on the gun itself though. But Silenced M9's are really actually silent. Look up any youtube video firing real guns and you'll see what I mean. Heck I'll just post a random video I found here to save your time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygl9YGM39Kc Also the fact that you can't use ACP45 ammo for the revolver for the Colt Government, or visaversa seems really unrealistic. A revolver using ACP45 was made for compatability purposes of this ammo type thats used in handguns, but in the game it acts like a unique ammo type. Same goes for MP5 which uses 9mm bullets which is the same ammo type as M9. I know its an engine limitation from the original ARMA but I'm sure there are mods that work around this so its still possible to fix this in DayZ. Also along with an ability to "refill" your magazine with bullets by taking two half filled magazines and combining would also be a nice addition.
  5. I really like the Camping tents, but the main problem is that it sticks to the Server itself and can be looted while you are logged off. To a lot of people this system makes it impossible to really use the tent unless they have a group of 10 people rotating and guarding the tent. So my suggestion is that make the tent link to yourself, and when you log out the tent also disappears. The Tent could be looted if you are joined in a server and someone comes across it while your getting loot from somewhere else, but it isn't accessible while you are logged out. This will make the tent actually worth carrying around, unlike the tent right now. Tell me what you guys think and is this actually possible in the ARMA engine (to make something spawn in a coordinate when you log in)?
  6. yeah i would actually like this. The main problem with the tent right now is that its server sided making it not usable in other servers. And about server hopping tents, what happens when a player spawns right on top of you? Doesn't the new player's spawn get slightly moved to the side? Same can probably happen for tents. Although yeah I agree it might still be difficult if there was only a small "flat" land where you could place a tent, and two people placed it on the same place. Personally I wouldn't mind if my tent disappears in that situation since its really unlikely.

    Nonlethal weapons (tranq gun)

I half agree with you Doktor, in most cases where you could do all those fancy killing tricks, its just easier to shoot a bullet into their backs.
  8. I still don't know why DayZ zombies can walk through closed doors. I mean, in the original ARMA2, AI soldiers surely didn't walk through closed doors right?

    Nonlethal weapons (tranq gun)

I like it. Instead of killing them I could tranquilize them and run off, or loot just the beans and run off. Everybody is happy

    DEBUG MONITOR suggestions

I'm pretty sure hovering over will not work due to the engine. What they could do is make a 100%transparent background Debug Monitor on top of the Blood and Temperature and put the numbers of them there instead.
  11. The only thing I'm ever bothered by about zombie spawns is that once I clear an area out a few minutes later they are there again. Maybe make zombies spawn outside of towns and make them head toward a town or something in that sense.

    Store the flashlight

wait, can't you put it in your backpack anyway right now?
  13. I just want the tent to be something actually useful. Any type of tent releated ideas that improve the usage of tents are welcome.
  14. How the hell does a cigarette lit up an area? LOL It lits up a face when you inhale but nothing more. because its a game
  15. I need the handscan personally only because I play with my friends and I need to know which person is who. If some sort of group system is implemented I wouldn't need it anymore.
  16. Thanks Leechman, these are the types of ideas I want to hear. I agree that the risk/reward balance is very important too. Maybe to balance things out what can happen to tents is that if your killed, the Tents become "neutral" tents which can be looted by anybody and automatically despawns after a few minutes (nobody should be able to pick it up due to server problems which can be a problem if 10 and 100 of tents are in a server). That way if the tent owner is killed the tent owner can't just log out to save the tent from being looted. As for engine wise, maybe it can act like a character, so when you log in, it actually creates another uncontrollable character which spawns with the items it previously had, but again I don't know if this is possible in the ARMA engine.
  17. I never use tents BECAUSE I know someone is going to loot it anyway if I use it. Plus I move from server to server frequently making the item pointless.
  18. nah I like to smoke and I like the idea of decreasing stamina (maybe running speed?) and blocking your vision slightly while giving the benefit of healing pain overtime and lights up a small area.
  19. Every main problem up to this point seems to be the fact that there are too much bandits that kill everyone they see. So this is a solution that does not penalize the bandit, but gives a consequence for they're actions. Basically what this notoriety system does is it checks the current server for the lowest humanity player (if the bandit system is scratched maybe keep it just an internal count no visible) and ever 30 minutes or so a broadcast plays and it tells the other survivors where the Bandit's location is (the city name or something in that line). Now this makes the Bandit have to be constantly on the move when they want to kill people, but also makes them famous (maybe there can be a ranking or something) so it does not really penalize the Bandits. Now on the other hand the Survivors now have a choice to walk away from a Bandit or engage him forming groups, which makes the PvP aspect a lot more interesting. Obviously the Bandit can use this system to his advantage by moving his position right after the broadcast plays, so he can ambush unsuspecting players, which also makes this very interesting. Now, about the Broadcast. I personally don't think it should be a totally global announcement. Inside major cities the broadcast should be played throughout the city, but if you are outside of the major cities, the only way you could check the broadcast is by a radio or some sort of equipment (I know there is already a radio implemented in the game). I personally think this is the best way to not penalize but tone done the killing sprees by Bandits, and it would make the PvP a lot more interesting because now the survivors have a better chance to engage Bandits strategically.
  20. Also, now that the bandit skin is presumably gone, what can make the game interesting is to make it so that only the top rank killer can get the bandit skin. That way the "Bandit" skin will become a reward other high notoriety characters go after, making the game not just a noob killing game but also a high skilled combat between people going after the "Bandit" skin.
  21. just make sure the players cannot change their skins after they start playing. You can find uniforms, facepaints etc inside the game, but your basic face and default clothes should not be able to change.

    Adding realism to backpacks

I agree with the fact that the Vest should increase your moving speed since there is abolutely no reason to switch off your initial coyote for it, but the default coyote should be 100% speed. Just a little idea.
  23. Why does M9 Silenced use a different ammo type than normal M9? I understand some guns need a different ammo type because the bullet reaches sonic speed and could be heard, but for M9 that is not the case. And why can't you use ACP45 bullets for your M1911?
