Many reasons why we need the bandit, survivor, and hero skins back.
p4nnus replied to JayTee13's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Dont try to bambify the game! Agree with clumzy. Also learn to use the search button, this has been discussed. Though it would be nice to see the whole humanity system removed from the mod with the addition of some variety to the (starting ) clothes. -
Oh you dumdum. Ever heard of a private hive?

Elite Survival - 400 + weapons! Brand new SERVER!

If the loot tables are tampered, its a bambieserver.. if you can find a weapon easier, its a bambieserver. -
Killing people for no reason is funny
p4nnus replied to silkyskills's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Whoa there budd.. Im not going to even call you my buddy, youre so way off.. the actions one performs in a video game, might have a little reflection on different stages of the subconsciousness, and also a big chunk of "Ive always wanted to see(!) that happen" and dont forget the slice of "youre supposed to survive in this game". If someone is a total ass in a game, it doesnt mean hes in real life. If you believe this, Im surprised you havent committed suicide due to the fact that the world is full of idiots (well it is, but even more full than IRL) who want to also kill everything that moves. I agree with atleast women making it in the game, the only reason not to include children, is Australia. The game would be banned there, and they dont deserve that. Why should they be in the game, you ask. Because IRL there would be. Simple. -

Yes you should be able to. But even if you arent, this doesnt effect DayZ in any way.

Renaming 'Bandits' to psychologically discourage it: Tramps.
p4nnus replied to Justitia's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Justitia. You can try to imagine theyre called tramps. If this is not enough, go and tamper with the games code to change it yourself and for yourself only. You fluffy carebear. Once again: DayZ. Your story. Your story can be full of killing tramps, mine isnt. The only thing that this game does wrong, atleast what comes to banditry, is the bandit-skin which indicates bandits. Shouldnt happen, cause you wouldnt know IRL. What Rage said about them developers and their opinion on this, its true. You can go look up Deans words on this. Even the bandit skin is against it, and I believe(hope?) it is only temporary. The direction youre trying to change the game in, is wrong. And by that I dont mean that the more banditry the merrier. More like, everyone gets to decide what they want to be, through their actions, and no one is punished. -
I have a solution for this: remove the bandit skin. The whole humanity system is fighting against what Dean wants. I think he even said that he doesnt want to punish certain kinds of players. Putting a stupid scarf on your face and making your backbag invisible is punishing. IMO there should be no way to tell, except for trying to figure out from the behaviour, weapon of choice, location etc. I hope that in SA, where you can adjust different pieces of clothing, the humanity will be just an painful echo far,far away. A distant memory. Now lets be rational.. sure, thats not how things are in the real world. Are we playing Real WorldZ? Nope. Would this kind of behavior happen in a place like Chernarus, if an event like zombie infectioncalypse happened? We dont know, but possibly atleast.
-
Again, SA will use VAC! Problem not solved, but reduced much. And even if you would enjoy listening to your own voice, this video is entirely purposeless. One word would have been enough: PunkBuster.

Firstly, on topic.. when I played OFP (operation flashpoint, the first milsim from BI) in a clan, we also practised, and not only pvp situations, but also shooting at a range, driving different vehicles etc.. the weirdest, most unimportant thing that I recall, was learning the names/models of different vehicles and weapons. It didnt feel weird at the time, because it was a milsim and we played it like a simulation. We were almost pretending to be in the army.. ofcourse, we didnt exercise like privates, that would have been too much! :D But if you mean practising just like what you described, I agree that its a bit stupid on largely populated servers. But I can see where your coming from, and I agree that some people take it a little too seriously, but I think that it has something to do with DayZ being a simulation (anti-)game. The fact that you lose all of your progress upon death is something that makes your heart beat when the bullets start flying. And BTW I would love to see some kind of long lasting tournament in DayZ. Maybe something like who survives the longest, with the first death eliminating you from the competition, but instead from dropping you out of action, you get to start again. (it would be the same 50 players locked to the tournament for the duration of it, with maybe a certain amount of hours that you must play each day) Ofcourse as your out of the competition, your job is to hunt the remaining competitors out. (or maybe the eliminators who died could give their place to a random player, who wants to try their chances in the elimination) Though this might not work because of the fact, that you can just survive in the woods on the edge of the map, as long as you want. But then again, could this be prevented by giving the competitors different daily goals, like visiting a certain city? (everyone has the same goal, to guarantee conflicts) As this just came to my mind, Im not sure would this work in a way that honors what DayZ is, as it encourages or lets say.. makes you engage in pvp, and because of that it isnt only surviving.. but it could be something to consider about. ^_^ Indeed. Especially when you seem to profit from this. B)

New private hive! Loads of cars. Spawn w/Best Backpack and gun
p4nnus replied to MehC8's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Totally agree on that, servers like this should be banned. Youre destroying the purpose of the game. No accessibility to DayZ, server provided or not! -
Better anti-cheat needed and new player issues
p4nnus replied to zenstrata's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree with this. Zensrata, you could have read the forum rules and search if theres a topic of this. We all (atleast whom have played for merely a while) have had our conflicts with hackers and have lost camps and gear so you should realize its something thats widely acknowledged. At some point the hacker problem was so bad that I felt like these forums were full of threads considering that topic and that topic only. Many of them also claimed that the mod was losing its playerbase rapidly..well look where we are now? While the devs etc. didnt quite get the problem under control (I guess they had to rely on the guys at BattlEye) as fast as the community grew angry, I believe they did and do their best. And yeah I also agree with the points about factions, limiting pvp and getting bonuses. Again if you would have searched the forums youd know that these things are not going to happen, just like the 3rd person only suggestion. The whole point of this game is human relations and the open-endedness of them. I think that the current bandit-humanity system sucks, as it was even more exciting and scary to meet other players as you had no idea who they are and what have they done. As SA will have character customization, this will hopefully be repaired. -
There had been a civil war in Chernarus with U.S Army interference. This explains the existing american made weapons. " After many months of civil war, the ChDKZ fails to overthrow the current government and set up the Socialist Republic of Chernarus. The Chernarussian government asks the international community for assistance in defeating the rebels, and the United States responded by sending a U.S. Navy Expeditionary Strike Group off the coast of Chernarus, hoping that a presence of an Amphibious Ready Group with hundreds of U.S. Marines embarked on board would calm any tensions in the area." Playing through the campaign of arma 2 helps to understand the setting DayZ is based on. Though I do agree with AR-15 being out of the line. Theres no reason for its existence in Chernarus as marines dont use it.(?)

Oh so its not limited even though most of the mods are just packs of new characters, vehicles, maps and a story/missions? In other words just new materials and stuff you can do with the map/mission editor? Try adding some complicated animations such as the one were talking about.. I would love to see a single arma 2 mod where the player can jump.(srlsy tell me if you know one, Im asking this for real) On the other hand the zombie animations (the ones made for DayZ i.e. idle movement or attacking) are mocapped by a single person. This combined with the stiffness of the game engine results in the awkwardness of the current zombie animations. Remember that were actually speaking of infected people here, not walking corpses. Not that it makes zombies/infected that much more believable or changes the fact that they couldnt continue roaming around forever.

Well arent you confident about yourself. Prepper or not, you cant know in advance if you have what it takes (i.e. mentally) to really survive or not. The equipment is a good start, but its not necessarily enough. You should try trekking in to the wilderness to live there for a year before you come here telling people that you would live more comfortably in a post-apocalyptic world. <_< Now, back on topic. I do agree that there should be more depth to the endgame, but seriously, video games? And funnily enough it was you who said "Not sure if bad troll, or just stupid...". You made a promise earlier on, to stop vouching about this when someone gives you a good reason. You keep on quoting yourself although the reason has been stated many times: REALISM! Yeah, we need comfort in such a terrible situation and the importance of it should be remembered. BUT VIDEOGAMES!! OMFG. If you really would manage to regain electricity, the last thing you would use it for is videogames. Unless ofcourse you plan on fortificating yourself (successfully !) in a working (!) power plant. When the base construction is implemented, there are so many different things to think about before even dreaming of entertainment, just like there would be in the real world. DayZ is a hardcore game, and this, if implemented, would take away a lot of its feeling of desperation. IMO thats a big part of what makes DayZ what it is. Videogames dont fit in the world in any way. Chernarus must be one of the last places on earth to find videogames. How many televisions have you seen so far? Not a single minigame in DayZ, never! Well okay maybe in 2020, when were playing DayZ 4 in a map the size of Europe, with the ability to piss, shit, masturbate and scratch your ass while you have metrics telling you when to do so. Then there could be a "satisfaction" or "happiness" meter to tell you when to please yourself, (not in that way, jerking off has its own hornyness meter) in order to try maintain sanity. When I think of it, actually even then I would suggest good ol' books instead of this nonsense. And no, I dont think books should be implemented in any way before 2020, before that the devs should concentrate on more important things. Now would you please stop going on about this as you promised? No, no and no.

Don't even make third-person an option for DayZ standalone
p4nnus replied to Pomegranate's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Ive played the original OFP back in the dayz B) and in a clan too.. we used 3rd person in clan matches and all, and for me its always been a crucial part of the game. With the slight clunkyness of a war sim, its a great feature. If some of you have played OFP you know that its not that different from Arma 2 atleast what comes to gameplay and the control you have over your character. So I consider it as a feature Ive gotten used to in the series, not an advantage or something like that. The FOV when in 3rd person isnt that crazy, IMO its not too unrealistic. And hey give me a break, dont you think blurring would make the game look unrealistic? If you invoke to realism dont suggest something that makes the game either look like shit, expose possible enemies as a spot that just gets blurred in distance while looking around in 3rd person or just 'blind' at times. What a fool I was but I did buy OFP:DR for X360. Oh boy.. that was a horrible, unfinished game. And you know what? Ofcourse there werent 3rd person as it was for consoles, and it made the game feel like something very different in a bad way. If made simpler, even if only in the quantity of camera angles, the game is still one step closer to your everyday FPS. :| I acknowledge the problem with empty 1st person servers but instead of taking away 3rd person from everyone, you just need to organize the 1st person players. Yeah its the anti-game but this anti-game is build on a game that has long roots with 3rd person, and taking it away does more harm than good.
