  1. Ive played DayZ since the early days of the mod, June of 2012. Im a huge fan and the game continues to be one of my all time favorites, if not THE favorite game. Ive played every version of it, from the broken release version of the SA, to .62 and the engine swap, etc. Ive played on experimental branch and provided feedback to the devs along the years. Ive been on the forums since 2012, providing feedback and taking part in discussion. Im happy that the game is getting more official content, but nobody should buy Frostline for 27e. Why? Bc its greatly overpriced. For example, I bought Arma 3 Apex for 19e and it didnt just have Tanoa, the map Sakhal is based on, but a co-op campaign, new weapons and vehicles, new MP modes, new separate standalone SP mode with replay value, other assets etc. A ton of stuff, much more than here. Most of the stuff in this map is already on my SDD. Recycled map, assets, etc. What is on offer here, cant simply be justified to cost 27e, even in todays market. If DayZ wasnt released for consoles, a 27e recycled map would be a thing of ridicule. But it is, so now the content starved console players are ofc defending it. Some PC players too, but Id guess mostly those who dont remember the broken promises of EA, the rushed release, Livonias addition to an unfinished game, what they did to it in the end, etc. Or maybe they just have low standards. Its common to see arguments like "but this other game has skins for 20e, so Frostline isnt so bad!!1". These kind of arguments are what BI want, so they can soon also increase the monetization. See what they did with Arma 3, after A2. To the console players: I know you guys are starved for content. Youve had to play on two summer maps for years, it sucks. But remember that its BI, their greedy decisions to reduce the dev team to a skeleton crew and to not allocate more resources for the dev't of DayZ, that has made you so starved! You want to praise and reward the hand now, that starved you? The 1.0 release of the game was rushed against promises, bc of the console market - Microsoft didnt allow a prolonged EA phase on their store, which is sth BI knew when going for the console money. There were even silly promises of how the console dev't wouldnt affect the PC dev't. The dev team was reduced to a skeleton crew. We are still missing legacy features. All of this is due to BIs greed. Some of you are willing to give them a pass, bc some other studios are even worse, with even greedier practices. Im not: if we wont uphold standards, they are gone. You shouldnt be either, if you care for the future of this franchise and the industry. Buying this for 27e is you telling them that a map for the og price of the game is OK. If you give this price a OK, it will keep getting worse from here and youre part of the problem. If you allow every studio to go down the same drain, they will all end up in the same ditch.

    Why Valorant has better security

Youre the one being ignorant here, suggesting a mechanic that is easily, for free passed. You clearly dont understand even the most basic things about AC's! Valorant has Kernel level anticheat, which means that its more capable at spotting cheat programs than what DayZ has. Thats where its strength comes from! Ironic for you to call others ignorant and not knowing what a HWID spoofer is.. youre a joke!

    Why Valorant has better security

Not true. HW-ID spoofers have been around since early 2000's.

    Dayz dead

If you look at the avg players online, this is not true. Why dont you just play Rust if thats more your thing? Base building is not even a vanilla DayZ feature, so dont expect it to be the focus for dev't.

How do i add External mods to ps4 server

No there is not. Modding is PC exclusive.
  6. Why would there be C4 in Chernarus?
  7. This is not enough. Remove the directional indicator or you have ruined DayZ.
  8. You dont seem to understand. DayZ is not supposed to offer help to casuals/newbies, its a HC survival game. Splitting the playerbase and making the game something that was never meant to be for the sake of some newbies is effectively killing its identity.

    Debate on hit markers

This is not the case tho. Its indicating the direction, as for example WOBO has shown in his video. This means that in situations where the player doesnt know the direction, he will gain this information on a silver platter. Its total and utter BS. I agree with you. Its ridiculously tone deaf from BI to even think of this. They are clearly looking for a more casual audience, probably mostly on consoles. Im gonna refund the game if this happens, its not a HC survival game anymore if this sort of feature is added.
  10. If someone did, it was the console players. I think thats why we are seeing the poll so even, the console players dont use a separate subreddit. Remember when the DayZ devs told us that the console release wouldnt affect the PC dev't? It was utter BS. (And not only seen in this occasion, but in other things too) Nobody who wants DayZ to be DayZ has asked for this feature. 100% agreed. It doesnt fit DayZ and its not needed. There are games with this sort of feature, a lot of them, let the people who want that sort of thing play those. I dont understand why people think this. IRL theres shock, sometimes completely masking that youve been hit and pain that affects a larger area than where youre just hit. In the military soldiers are trained to check a friendly soldier for hits when its safe to do so, this includes taking off the gear and clothes when necessary. Thats bc its so hard to tell where you are hit when you are hit. You ABSOLUTELY DO NOT KNOW where the shot came from 99% of the time. You need to examine the wound to know that, if theres no other indication and the round isnt stopped/slowed down by plates/equipment etc. You might be able to tell what body part youre hit in, if you dont suffer from major shock. Source: military first aid training. I could accept them if they only show what body part you were hit in, but no direction. In current form, they are not good at all. If you dont understand why they dont fit the game, you dont understand DayZ. This is nothing personal, but a fact. This but not a direction, at max a body part. The idea is bad. Its not needed. Even the body part style one is not needed. Why its a good idea in your opinion? It takes away from the skill-ceiling, the learning-curve, the authenticity and realism and makes gameplay easier, less intense and more forgiving. Whats good about that? Of course it changes "anything". People who shoot precise shots far away in a place where theres only a few spots where a potential shooter could be are exposed now with no skill needed. For example, the one who is being shot is at the bottom of a canyon or similar geography, he is shot from +500m with a silenced weapon and has no cover. He shouldnt know where the shot came from unless he inspects the wound, the gear for holes etc. And to a lesser extent it works in the same way in a dense forest too, when you dont hear the shot. If theres several non-silenced shots, you know which one of them is at you if theres no impact sounds that youve heard. The fact that the TTK is high doesnt change the fact that the feature is unrealistic, breaks the immersion, is not needed and is completely against what DayZ is supposed to be. It servers no other purporse than to make the game easier for those who dont have the attention span to learn it. DayZ was never supposed to be the game where you are handed information that you dont pick up yourself. The game shouldnt be dev't with deaf peoples experience as the focus, it makes 0 sense and you should know it. With this logic we will add permanent day time vision for people with bad eye sight, so they can see during the night and distinguishable outlines to players for people suffering from color blindness so they can see them. And again, the problem is exactly that people know which direction to run even when they shouldnt. Like you literally write it there for everyone to see, thats the main problem. DayZ is supposed to be realistic to some extent, so having the magical ability to tell where a shot came from is a BIG deviation from this realism. Experienced players dont even want such a thing, as it just evens out the playing field. You think thats good? Then you fail to comprehend the essence of DayZ. I cant understand why its so hard for people to comprehend why the change is a VERY BAD ONE. If we start going down this slippery slope, next there will be a fucking Kill Cam. Its absolutely ridiculous!

    DayZ 2/Arma Reforger rumours

As its a mod, there are combinations of different mods. Some ARMA 3 DayZ servers have the ACE medical system for example, which is way more profound and complex than anything DayZ SA has ever seen. I havent played any ARMA 3 DayZ mods for a long time though, so I dont know how the current ones work, but there were many pretty cool servers years a go so maybe thatll answer your question. Theres a lot more mods for ARMA 3 than there is for DayZ SA.

There's a point where realism gets in the way of fun.

This is not Rust or some other fortress building/defending simulator. If you guys can have your wooden forts, the peeps who dont care for that kind of silly stuff can have their buried stashes. Why should you be able to find all the stuff other people have? Base building is not even a legacy DayZ feature. Its only there so that RP and clan players can have sth to do because they cant have choppers and theres no other "endgame". Its literally supposed to be a cool looking time-sink with some possibilities for modded servers and RP servers.

There's a point where realism gets in the way of fun.

What made you think that some wooden walls and a padlock would keep your base secure? What made you think that it was supposed to be totally secure? OFC glitches need to go, but I dont think the bases were never intended to be raid-proof or even close to that.

the ability to write notes on paper.

You used to be able to, but as BI labeled so many things as "flavor features" this is not in DayZ anymore. It should make a return tho. I liked to leave notes for people to read and when they would read the poem I wrote, for example, I would snipe them in the head. It was good fun!
  15. Its the true end-game of original DayZ. If you managed to fix and maintain a chopper, people knew you know what youre doing. I think you havent been there to see it, but it was not choppers zipping all over the map. There were maybe 2 per server. As there wasnt this base building included, but people only had tents, choppers were the easiest and fastest way of finding tents. For this reason and other more obvious reasons, choppers were very valuable and to get one or to shoot one down was truly special. Sure, some servers might have them zipping all over the map, but then again we have a crap ton of servers now that are super casual TDM arena servers, with loot everywhere and armor that can make you withstand crazy amounts of damage. The servers that you want to play on would have only 1 or 2 choppers. Trust me on this one, it didnt take away from the immersion or anything like that. Not to be a party pooper, but these items have been in the game for quite some time. The fact that they are there is not an indication that said features would be close to implementation. That sucks.. can you provide a source for this? I feel you man. Bows are not a "flavor feature" for me either. Its absolutely disrespectful for BI to make base building be an important feature with a big emphasis, but then vanilla features like bows, bones and choppers are forgotten. I will boycott BI from now on most probably. Theyve shown how they cant be trusted. Also, the ARMA 3 microtransactions are absolutely horrible and overpriced. The future for BI doesnt look good.
