    DayZ Combat/Firefight guide(?)

I guess this sums it up. I just hate the fact that you just cant do anything about it 90% of the times you are attacked :) But I sure do have to work on staying calm.. It's so hard though. And to all of you: Just "kinda" survived my first real firefight. Progress :P (I ended up being shot in the head by a 3rd player whilst looting). You all seem to handle firefights very reactionary/as-they-come. As a read-to-learn kinda guy, there really should be a guide out there :) I guess I'll have to read up on IRL military tactics.

    DayZ Combat/Firefight guide(?)

Yeah I guess I'm doing that for the most times, I kinda "freeze" ^^ Good tactic with suppression, although I tend to play alone. @Pie flavour, at least it feels nice to hear that others experience the same situations, even though it's an anoying way to die- I at least wanna be able to put up a decent fight.
  3. So, I'm looking for any detailed, or at least more in depth, guide to combat in DayZ. Not in regards to the actual basic controls- but more how to actually conduct successful combat. I am doing somewhat well when it comes to the survival part of the game. Got my tent, got meds and food and a basic assault rifle- so really things aren't that bad. However, after many many many hours- I still can't handle a firefight with bandits. I suck when it comes to "pvp". The usual scenario is that I get under attack and killed within seconds and without really knowing from where the shots came from. The second most common scenario is me trying to ambush a bandit, miss the first shot (thereby alerting him where I am) and getting stuck in a longer firefight were I usually loose. I can't aim with the "mouse-delay", I get adrenaline rushes, and I rarely manages to scout the bandits out before they see me. I'm getting tired of these sudden and quick deaths, and want to improve. Are there any guides or tips to improve combat-wise. Thank you.

    Game is not availible. SayWhut?

This worked wonders for actually getting the game to start! However, now I'm getting script restriction #40 and getting kicked whenever I play on a server =/

    Chopper hunting turns into firefight

Great vid. I liked especially how you kept your heads cool during the fight and the conversation between you guys- not that often one sees that :) Been looking for SE-servers to make my home at. Perhaps we'll run into each other :)

    What happened to LU298?

Pretty much as the topic says. I've been playing it for a while, but it has been gone now for a while. Anyone know?

Best places to search for camps?

I can never understand why people take the time to be such assholes- Isn't there ANY other thing you guys can do? This post is a great one for people (bandits or not, I'm not going to touch that subject) that would like to share tips and strategies. Raiding camps is IMO a great way for solo players to gear up (relativley) safe. Try raiding the edges of the map, but stay a bit inlands, say a few hundred meters. After the tent/car-wipes there problably are more of them in the forest, since the border tend to be in the open. It's hard though, so I mostly tend to look for other players, rather than their camps ;)
  9. I hate when other people (often dumb people) speak for me without asking me. It's your post/opinion, just because you're dumb- please don't make it out like everyone else are as well....

    Removal of all gear.

But how would that work Zetal? Would you ban everyone with a pair of NVG's, for the sole reason of them having them? Sure it's unlikley to find one like a day after a wipe, but is that proof? I'm not saying its not possible to do a server wipe. I'm just saying that the argument you used wasn't enough and simply not structured enough. I mean...Is this for server stability or "fairness"? If its for server stability- how can you know that its duped items thats causing the server-side instability problems that DayZ suffers from. And if it's to fix "fairness"- well then it just wouldnt work in reality, even though the thought is a good one. But sure, your ill-written, bad structured and non-logical statements makes me a jerk aparently...

DayZ: A neat game with no endgame

    Removal of all gear.

So in order to stabilize gear and remove duped/spawned items- we should remove all gear belonging to people who haven't hacked? What I'm trying to say is; people who have duped and spawned in items will simply spawn in and dupe items the second after the server-wipe, while all the people who did not hack will have to start over. In effect, removing all items in order to "make it fair/stable" would simply do the opposite and further destabilize the item distribution. Also; "...in order to reset the mod to a stable testable state. " Now how can you be so sure that it is the duped items on the servers that are the cause of instability? Don't you think there are other things that may effect the mod more? Bugs? Engine/core design issues? etc. So no, I think your suggestion is really bad. The idea of a clean wipe might be something to discuss, but not with your argument.

    DayZ and Vehicles

Have to agree. Sure, cars would be broken after standing still for a long while (I guess)- but I don't understand why 99.99% have burned up. Increase the spawnrate of cars, but keep the system of having to repair them.

Why I hate PvP in DayZ

Huh? I thought that was a hunting-vest of some sort. You know, for ammo and stuff? Anhow, I've noticed that same thing. I once sprayed a man full of bullets, and he still had time to move around at fire a shot or two. It seems like when it comes to fighting, the lag becomes a little more obvious.
