  2. I appreciate the time and work that went into this concept, but I must disagree. My main qualm with this mechanic is that it punishes the player too much and over complicates the game world. I know DayZ is a tough game and isn't meant for the casual player. However, a game can only be so realistic till it reaches the point where it's either not fun anymore or its medium cannot accurately portray reality to the required degree. Some parts of the idea I do like, but the original concept is taking it too far in my opinion.
  3. Dear Rocket and the team: Please focus on the important things when making the DayZ Standalone. It may sound like redundant advice but it's easy to lose sight of the big picture. New features, locations, weapons and items are great, but they are negligible in comparison to the fixes needed on the zombies. Now, I know very well some of the things you guys are adding to the DayZ Standalone regarding zombies. I've seen new animations and a reworking path finding system so far. But this area needs more improvement. This is what I hope can be fixed before the Beta release (that are still issues in the gameplay footage I've seen of the Standalone): zombies clipping through wallszombies moving sporadically or chasing the player in a very odd and inefficient mannerzombies knocking out a player or killing him extremely quickly, even at full bloodzombies' attacks not being synchronized with the player receiving it On a side note, it would be nice if zombies could not open doors, but instead, could only break them down. Also, a zombie should not be able to climb a ladder. :P Once again, I know you are aware of the issues with the zombies. All I'm asking if that you have them as your main focus. Have a good day. :)
  4. Food should be more rare. While food is common in real life, you must realize: this is in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse; all the common places would already be heavily looted. Food would be rare. I am unsure how the new medical system works, but I would like medical supplies to be rare to encourage teamwork, so the less there is the better (to a degree). I concur with dulix11 about the weapons. Civilian weapon spawns are fine as they are, but military weapon spawns need to be way more rare.

    Fire Extinguisher

    I think it would be neat if there was a fire extinguisher in DayZ SA. Stats Type: tool Spawn Locations: hospitals, hangars, air traffic control towers, and fire stations Rarity: moderately rare Uses: Vehicles can catch on fire if sufficient damage is taken. The fire extinguisher would be used to extinguish the flames. If an engine is damaged in a helicopter, for example, a fire would break out. If the fire is not extinguished in time, the engine is destroyed and the vehicle becomes inoperable. What do you think?
  6. Hello. I think it would be great if the DayZ Standalone could have the HMMWV Ambulance, a vehicle already present in Arma 2. Seats: 6 Rarity: Rare (1 per server) Spawn locations: Near hospitals or medical tents Additional benefits: Medical supplies spawns inside the vehicle; medical operations can be done inside the vehicle (even while in motion) What do you think?

The main reason I think moderate kill feed would be nice is that you can tell who backstabbed you so they can't just lie and say they didn't kill you. But that's probably a luxury that will only appear in Private Hives. I deleted my choice for now as I still need to think about it.

    How would it compare? Also, I was thinking the HMMWV because the base version of the HMMWV is already in the mod, so it's more likely they'll put it in.
  12. I did not find this while searching so I think it is a fairly new concept. I think adding Police Stations and Non-Lethal Weapons would be a great idea. We have Fire Stations so why not Police Stations? I'm sure the build model wouldn't be too difficult to make. Within the Police Stations, there could be new, exclusive items only found at these buildings. They could include the following: 12-gauge Rubber Slug ammunition that can be used in 12-gauge shotguns already present in the game; they would knock a player unconscious for a short while upon impact and inflict only a minuscule amount of damageSedative darts that can be used with the Compound Crossbow; they would knock a player unconscious for a considerable amount of time, but the effect would not be instantaneousTear gas canisters that would blind players within its effective radius for a short period of time (they would also blind zombies too)Tasers that would incapacitate a player for a short while via an electrical shock The purpose of adding these devices is not only for the sake of realism (or "authenticity" as Rocket likes to put it :)) but also to give players a means to safely incapacitate another player without having to kill them. Even bandits could find them useful as they would be very quiet and allow them to loot an unconscious body without trouble. They could also help in subduing a runaway hostage. What do you think? :)

    Flare Gun

    I think it would be great to have a Flare Gun in DayZ Standalone. It would be a single-shot, breech-loaded 12-gauge painted bright orange that could be used to signal for help, broadcast a location, or distract zombies. How would it differ from Road Flares? Since the flare can be shot up in the air instead of simply being thrown, it can be seen from much farther distances, especially for aerial vehicles. The Flare Gun would work very similar to the M203 Flare Launcher attachment. However, the M203 Flare Launcher would be rare (and, of course, require a compatible gun) whereas the Flare Gun would be a little bit more common. What do you think? The DayZ development team are adding a lot of new items such as different types of watches and compasses, so why not apply that same concept of variance to Flares?
  16. You knew this would be a quick loot. Get the goods, then get out. Try not to get shot. All is going well as you are heading out, when suddenly, a glimpse of movement crosses the corner of your eye. You swivel your gun in the direction and then it hits you. The gaze of another player meets yours. You gasp. Your eyes widen. For a moment, nothing else matters but what you do in the next few seconds. Are you going to kill him? Are you going to run away? Or are you going to lower your weapon and shake his hand?

The difference between the two options is that the first means your primary motivation is to kill the player in order to defend yourself; the latter means your primary motivation is to kill him in order to get to his loot. You can loot after you kill in self-defense. The difference is the mindset.
  18. There are 3 paths that the standalone version of DayZ could take as far as the player system goes. Here are the changes between the players in each system. Update of Current System - skin (can be fully customized) Enhancement System - skin (can be fully customized) - enhancement of a player's ability to accomplish a certain task after the player has completed the required quest (enhancements could or could not reset upon death; starting gear is unchanged) Class System - skin (can be customized to an extent based on which class is chosen) - different enhancements available based on which class is chosen (only 1 enhancement per class; starting gear is unchanged) What do you think is the best route to take?
  19. Well, technically, there are already enhancements in the game that give some players advantages over the other. Heroes can run slightly faster than non-hero players, and they have a bullet-resistant vest that protects against low-caliber bullets. The class system will most likely not work as of this point, but the standalone could have more enhancements that define your player. For example, if you use enough medical supplies on another player, perhaps you could do a blood transfusion from a dead zombie to yourself, but it would get you infected. You would need antibiotics to treat yourself, but since they are rare, this zombie blood transfusion would only be a temporary fix, where your player would eventually deteriorate to 6000 blood after awhile. Crazy idea, but y'know, layers. :)
