    Status Report - 09 Jun 2015

Everyone interested in this subject should immediately Amazon a copy of "On Killing" by Grossman. It's the definitive work in the field thus far. The following summarizes a portion of his work http://www.killology.com/article_agress&viol.htm Human beings are quite incapable of being certain how they will react in highly stressful, atypical situations. What drastically changes this is realistic, repetitive training that makes the stress controllable, and the situations typical. People not realistically, effectively trained to kill human beings will very often choose not to kill other human beings, even when it is in their own best interest, even if the other human being is perceived as trying to kill them. Human beings are not wired to murder each other. Most Dayz players, in a real world world apoc. would tend toward reclusive non-violent survival, even to their own detriment. KOS would be rare.

That has my vote. Making jerky out of my friend Scott after he gets accidentally pushed over the cliff at Solny is MY END GAME. (cliff = tenderizer)

Plan for release of 0.45 to Stable

Actually, finding a broken door, that appears broken from several feet away, and placing a large neon sign on said door "Door Broken, Use Other Door", and then setting up a table and chairs next to said entrance, and waiting to ridicule people that can't figure out what is wrong with the door, and placing said videos on youtube is an honorable past time. This forum is much akin to the above example. You can only place so many indicators of reality in front of people before they are asking to be smacked with a nerf bat for dumb. Those people need to be told that they are dumb as much as possible in the hopes that they will in fact realize that they are dumb, and not accidentally through a NASA Astronaut program and then dumb the International Space Station into a top secret USAF Space Command Orbital Laser. You are the type of person that shows up to the zoo not to watch the animals but to yell at the people that show up to the zoo to poke with sticks the people that are feeding the animals next to the "Don't Feed the Fucking Animals It's How We Get Ants" sign, because....well I don't know why.

It's almost like the Game Creator has forum threads and popups built into the game that say "The Game Is Not Even a Game Yet, Only Spend Your Money If You Want To Help Development" and then someone at an International Blind Children's Conference endorsed this game. Let me help you out mate: ⠠⠮⠀⠠⠛⠁⠍⠑⠀⠠⠊⠎⠀⠠⠝⠀⠠⠑⠧⠑⠝⠀⠁⠀⠠⠛⠁⠍⠑⠀⠠⠽⠑⠞⠂⠀⠠⠕⠝⠇⠽⠀⠠⠎⠏⠢⠙⠀⠠⠽⠗⠀⠠⠍⠐⠕⠽⠀⠠⠊⠋⠀⠠⠽⠀⠠⠺⠁⠝⠞⠀⠠⠞⠕⠀⠠⠓⠑⠇⠏⠀⠠⠙⠑⠧⠑⠇⠕⠏⠰⠞ Hrmm. You might have to have someone feel that for you? Wait...this solution seems to have some difficulties. Don't worry. Immerseve brail that can be felt through your monitor will be in the DayzSA Beta, for sure. Also there's a quote going around about how immediately appealing to Freedom of Speech as a basis for stating your opinion (which really isn't guaranteed on the internet ^.^) is the same as saying "I know what I am saying is dumb ahead of time, but I'm going to say it anyway"

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

This topic and it's posts are funny and sad. It's funny in the sense that the Dayz mod, for my group of 20 friends, became so unplayable because of hacking, that those of us that didn't quit the game moved to a fantastic white-list server. I won't say which one because I wouldn't want to encourage anyone to try to ruin it. Arma 3 is full of hackers. I just bought the game a day before the steam sale (shit is always worse on steam sale weekends) and Arma 3 is Bohemia's flagship product, years in development and lots of cash poured into it. There are some servers, generally the large 65+ servers that are always full that you can't play on for more than 20 minutes without the server being killed with some ingenuis hacks like 300 feet tall penis shaped towers of ATVs or a 24 hr News Network style ticker tape banner saying "you've been hacked, lol" combined with everyone being tp'd to a central location to be destroyed by fuel trucks pouring out of the ground into the sky. Dayz SA..I've played hundreds of hours and I haven't actually experienced anything that I was certain was a hack. I'm sure they are there, based on second and third hand accounts, but honestly, compared to the mod where full servers were getting nuke hacked once an hour, this really isn't that bad. I wish I could quantify this scientifically. My guess, based on what Rocket has said on the matter, is that the easiest methods of exploting Arma II/Dayz SA were eliminated (Arma 2 was designed on a way that the exact opposite that you would design a game to not be hacked, and closing those most obvious doors cuts the button of the pyramid off the chart) Additionally, the shiny has wore of of the Dayz concept and there are new FoTM games to go harvest tears from until Dayz is officially released. When the game is released, they will be back in force. Most hackers and script kiddies don't just play one or two games and exploit them forever, they move on to a different game or set of games every month....I imagine it gets very boring getting the same tears over and over again. I have full confidence that Rocket and his team will put out a quality product that will be fun to play and which will be in the same spirit as the original mod in terms of tone, feeling, and what we hope to enjoy from it. But the biggest issue in the end, when it comes to the longevity of the game, how long the average player will keep playing, and ultimately in my opinion, whether this game is successful or not is whether hacking is minor annoying or whether it dominates the game. You can build a near perfect game, that checklists all of the things that you want to do with the game, but if it doesn't addres the issue of hacking, in a way that Bohemia seems (by observation) to care none, know little, or unable to address, the game will be ruined despite your successes. So please. Official security team. Security exploit feedback system. Security team devblogs. ect. Thanks Rocket

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

I have played hundreds of hous on Dayz mod. I helped admin a server connected to public hive. I've spent hours and hour looking through server logs to find script kiddings teleporting and spawning A-10s. I have had people added to the global ban lists. I don't code however, so I am not expert. The last few months I played Dayz mod, on public and private hives was an epic disaster. Everyone on my teamspeak continually were getting nuked by hackers, teleport killed, transported to a magic island as bunny rabbits and then transmuted into human form again to battle royale to the last man. It was so bad we quit playing on anything other than whitelisted private hives. Now I've played a few hundred hours of Dayz SA. My experience thus far is this.....I nor anyone i know has yet to experience a hacker or a hacked event. That being said, alot of the Arma hacks were quite obvious because they involved scripting in events that were already in the Arma code, and were obviously not meant to be in Dayz.....tactical nuke strikes, A-10s, ect. Hacks in Dayz SA should theoretically be less obvious....its harder/impossible to script A10s into a game that doesn't have A10 code already there. It should be possible to do teleport hacks, body armor hacks ect, and will probably always be possible in Dayz SA because all events are not handled by the server, like on nearly all MMOs nowadays. But I haven't seen it yet. That being said, as buggy as SA is, it's quite possible that we've experienced script kiddies, and just don't know it. From people being shot with hundreds of rounds and still living, to people glitching in and out and being seemingly invincible ect. So have hope, but not too much hope.

    US74 server's Admin banned me!

This guy is a moron, and his friends aren't helping. Hackers are running rampant on the 15% of servers that Rocket actually has some semblance of control over, and he is bitching on the forums in official threads about an accidental ban. Everytime your bros login to the server they get the same e-mail address listed. For four or five days I've had to listen to Dirty Protagonist ask Silver Chair if he's gotten a fucking e-mail with your GUID. Maybe you should play Hello Kitty Online.

Out of bounds item/vehicles cleanup [2012-07-06]

Lol at all the haters who don't like people hiding shit outside the map. People hide things outside the map (big inconvenience for the hider) because the game is alpha (broken mechanics) and there is no consistent system for protecting/hiding your shit on the map. You may have 10 people in your clan, and your ability to make sure your shit doesn't get jacked for the two hours you don't have anyone online is non-existent. Stop being haters, and find a perspective that doesn't involve, "Where'z all de vehicles? : ( " Game mechanics are what they are people do what they do to adjust to that. (and I'm just refering to people randomly finding your shit in the woods, not the rampant vehicle/player ESP hacking, or multiple hacked helicopters I see on nearly every server that flying around looking for people's shit. ^.^

    Beware of Chicago 84

Wow.. that's so stupid and ridiculous. I guess the DayZ servers were just not prepared for this sort of mass attack? Hope it gets resolved soon' date=' I lost so many goodies! [/quote'] The recent DDOS of the hive server is probably not related to the increase in in-game hacking, though alot of the scripts do get leaked from the same sort of people...if thats what you meant by mass attacks. Thats more of a server security issue that isn't specifically related to Arma or Day Z. As far as in-game hacking...the game was an experimental mod based on a largely no longer supported game that turned into a sensation. All games where the servers aren't controlled by the developers and all information stored server side is rampantly hacked. Example being counter-strike. People want their service to be perfect because the game is so enjoyable, and because companies like Blizzard have standardized a certain level of customer support, server reliability ect. (I'm not talking about their India based phone support btw..which is horrible) As consumers we are use to a higher level of polish and support. However we aren't consuming a finished product we are consuming an experimental drug that won't be FDA approved for at least a year...and might actually give us cancer. So people need to adjust their expectations or just be dissapointed. So yes, the game wasn't, isn't, and won't be ready...not until its a stand-alone game with tightly controlled, or entirely developer controlled servers. I think Rocket recently said that only 15% of Day Z servers are actually in the limited control of him and his staff. ^.^

    Admin on EU 40 Cheating

Fact of the matter is that these servers are privately funded and the tools available "to prove" anything are limited if not non-existent. Other multiplayer games like starcraft have nearly all information stored by Blizzard, server side and the only arbiter in the decision making is Blizzard. Blizzard only has to convince Blizzard. Here, the chain of proof is Rocket - Limited Staff - Private Admins - Players. Tell me how a guy who is paying $50-$100 dollars a month for his friends to have a reliable server to play on, is suppose to "Prove" that someone was hacking. He has server logs created by the software given to him by Day Z/Rocket/Staff but who is to say that the admin didn't modify the log to get someone banned. You can easily copy hacking script into a file and paste a name. Is the admin suppose to fraps the whole event? If he does you can just say that the fraps was edited for content...or that what is seen in the fraps is misinterpreted. Furthermore if the log file isn't proof then he has to actually killed you while frapsing to get your name. If you are hacking it can be hard to kill you. (you can hack yourself 100% body armor and teleport anywhere you click on the map with the right scripts) Plus the admin will need a court certified observer there to watch the admin gearing up all day, frapsing, killing hackers, and looking at log files. A well established server that has been around for months will have dozens of cheat complaints everyday......how much money are you paying for this fair and partial arbitration? Oh right....Day Z itself is free and not even finished yet. This reminds me of a Dave Chapelle skit. Dave goes in for jury duty for the R.Kelly child porn trial, and he tells the lawyer questioning him that it would take "the girl sitting there with two forms of government idea, R.Kelly peeing on her, a police officer, 4-5 of his friends with Neil taking notes, and R.Kelly's grandma taking photos" to prove that it was indeed him on the video tape. You are playing this game on a private server that is running someone else's free game that is a mod of someone else's game that is virtually no longer supported. The burden of proof is not and should not be on the admin who is paying for the server, it is going to be on the player to prove that he wasn't hacking. Unfortunately, that isn't entirely fair, especially if hypothetically an admin is not only hacking, but intentionally getting his jollies from getting non-hackers banned. Life is imperfect....the Federal Reserve is still inflating our money supply and American citizens can now be arrested and detained indefinitely, and not subject to habeas corpus. Harden up.

    Beware of Chicago 84

This stuff has escalated with the game's popularity. The vast majority of vehicles you see on servers are hacked. It takes this much code to spawn a working helo next to an ammo box with full kit inside. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx The amount of code that goes into killing everyone on a server is about this long. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx And a retarded 14 year old with a Jr. High Visual Basic Class under his belt can do this with a little research and a helmet.

    Hack teleport : Dragos

Dragos is a hacker. Our server admin will be reporting him tomorrow. You might as well permaban him on your server now, and skip the suspension. Search your logs for: #24 icles.sqf case "Tele": hint "ha" onMapSingleClick "(vehicle player) setpos [_pos select 0, Pretty sure that "ha" isn't an official OFP scripting included by Rocket or B.I.S. Pretty sure #24 icles.sqf which he is injecting, didn't come with the game stock.
