I am unhappy because I blew away 15 dollars trying to use a new game to be able to play legitimate vanilla dayz but the CD key won't set to the new CD key so I'm up shit creek without a paddle. I've gotten a response from steam support but they have given the typical answers and this forum just seems to be an unhelpful circlejerk at the moment that is less "trouble shooter" and more "shoot any trouble". Things I will tell anyone with this problem so far: -Locate a new functional CD key -Use a legitimate non-hacker non-cd key stealing hex key changer program -Edit permissions in regedit -Run steam in admin mode That's about all I know, but I cannot get my key to change, I'm going to open up a second steam account, buy the game again before the sale ends, alter the key, and finally beat this dragon by throwing money at it. I turned to evil because I also had a lot of trouble finding a server without hackers so I decided to become one. I think I'm going to give up, I've wasted 15 dollars trying to be able to play again and I just don't know how to do it at all. I'm in a deep despair. I'd like to thank anyone who has tried to help me and anyone who has just stated the obvious "Hacking is bad, you'll hack again, ect." are not really of any help and actually more of hindrance. I just wanted to play this game the regular way again and that was robbed from me, no one will issue me a refund on my legitimate purchase. I don't believe I deserve this and I'm unhappy about this.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled, verified, and fooled around with the registries a little. I've been busy over the holidays so I've not been tending to it but I'm still working on it I'll let anyone know when/if I find a solution. Thanks man, I'm really not trying to hack ever again. Looking forward to buying the standalone I love the game.

I really want to play the mod as a typical regular non-hacking person, I've re-bought the game and I just need to alter my CD key with a legitimate CD key that I've bought. I understand that people are going to dislike me for having ever hacked but that is not my intention any more and I wish someone would help me. I've been working on the issue in the mean time.

I don't want to hack I just want to change my CD key based off of the product key currently listed on steam when I download the game. Videos have not been so helpful, I'm unsure which are honest or not and I am easily confused by the one legit video I have seen.

Thanks for the help. The first car I had ever found on a server was blown up by a hacker spamming satchel charges. It turned me to the dark side, I started to spawn vehicles. I spawned quite a few, gave people nice helicopter rides, but eventually I got the big ole global ban. I just want to play the game.

I hacked, I'll admit, I bricked my last copy of Arma2 and I just want to repent and play a vanilla game again. So I bought another copy of Arma2 on steam to overlay my previous one potentially, I'm not really sure what I'm doing as far as making it work goes and I'm still global banned. Can anyone help me with this? I turned to the dark side and I want to return to the light because I miss the game so much. I TRULY DID BUY ANOTHER COPY IN THE STEAM SALE TODAY.
