I would want zombies/infected to be an actual threat rather than an annoyance.

A few SA ideas [Please take a look!]

I like it, although I don't think I could use a life support machine-thingy. It wouldn't be fun to keep killing myself until I spawn with a gun. -
I know, what I'm saying it shouldn't be complicated.
-
Then show me how to fly a helicopter without anyone teaching you while zombies and players are trying to kill you.

Character dies, becomes NPC Zombie

If they do comeback as an infected when they're near death, wouldn't they be still in critical condition... Like... Barely dragging itself on the floor with one arm ?... And how would being infected help itself from critical condition. It makes the immune system even weaker, and then provides no means to heal itself from bleeding out or anything, thus letting them die. IF you survived the worst of the infection (the beginning) drinking water that contains some of the viruses will automatically kill you? -
Well Rocket is going for realism, and most people don't know how to fly a helicopter is what I'm saying.

I wouldn't say warming up food adds blood, as it extracts nutrients from the food inside the can itself via heat, it moreso should give a slight morale boost, or something like that.

After reading all that, I hope to say that this isn't a weird excuse for watching two bears make love.. In seriousness, most people do not know how to make medicine from plants, let alone distinguish certain plants in the wild, or know the dangers of a certain plant and the benefits of another. Do most people know how to properly cure hide and form it into a nice, somewhat protective leather garment that could insulate heat while adding a layer of body armor? I like the idea of animals, but I don't want it to be ZooWorld 2025 Apocalypse version or ZombieMon, where you see a bear in every piece of forest you skirmish into. I like the idea, it's just that it should be super complicated (ex. selective breeding... who has the time for that in an apocalyptic Russia where everything is trying to kill you? Surely you're not going to force two animals rape eachother in a claustrophobic underground dugout?) Also, I'm not sure how many normal civilians capture bears and tame it as their pet...

The hunting thing can be hacked & exploited, where hackers set traps all over the map or something like that, if Rocket doesn't resolve the hacking issue. The tackle/grapple thing sounds interesting, and would be cool if players could tackle/grapple other players. -
Who in their right mind would spend 2 hours in an open military base field where players are constantly fluctuating in and out looking for goodies that respawned, just to learn how to press the buttons. If I put you in a helicopter in real life, would you be able to fly it? (assuming you have no flight experience). A whole day isn't enough to replicate the experience of a seasoned helicopter pilot that has probably over atleast 5 years of air force training to fly it. (in real life). Plus, who is there to instruct you anyways? That would take forever to figure it out yourself and the risk in trying would be VERY HIGH.

don't think people keep guns in safes for emergencies, because emergencies are instanteous, or quick, and if it takes them a minute to unlock a safe, its a minute loss against an intruder, so people tend not to keep guns in safes for emergency purposes. safes containing money, jewelry, etc, would be no use in dayz.

There should be a safe for everything, ex getting a safe and put it in a tent, shelter, or hideout where all your precious loot could go. Then again, it makes it easier for hackers to spawn in items and keep repeating it and put safes all over the place and ruin the game experience. There should be code-operated locks, not just locks that need keys, etc etc. EDIT: This can take away the PvP experience where you can put all your stuff in a code-operated lock that you only know the combination of and go out with only a pistol and kill someone and take their stuff, then you rinse and repeat till basically you can survive for a long time. Also, safes are really REALLY heavy, if you try to carry it, it should affect speed, stamina, mobility, sound, and sight. Sight is when you make yourself a bigger object, thus allowing things to see you more clearly (when you're carrying something in your backpack 3x the size of your body mass and weight or dragging it along with the object radiating the sun's rays into the zombies eyes or a sniper's scope.) Sound being it should make a screeching sound when you drag it or something along those lines.

Being in some situations where I was solo-adventuring through the woods and lost my trail and location (fail), I've used some techniques to save myself from hypothermia at night time. When dusk hit, I took out the batteries in my flashlight, and took out a gum wrapper. I attached the two ends of the aluminium gum wrapper on each side of the battery, positive and negative. Aluminium is a very good conductor by the way. Anyway, by doing this, it set a small flame in the middle of the wrapper, I then put the flame into my tinder and wooosh! Fire. I wonder if this could be implemented into DayZ, because everyone spawns with a flashlight, and most supermarkets/markets have gum in them! Thoughts? EDIT: There should be a dexterity system with this so not everyone can just go starting fires all the time with just this method, there should be a high fail % to counter the high % of gum found in supermarkets. Maybe the risk is you burn your finger or something. EDIT: If you have an idea or thought concerning this post, just put it out (fail pun).
-
Gum seems more common than steel wool. I like that idea too though.
-
You'd need something to counter-act that because everyone that has an AS50 will be able to set a fire, while others will not be able to. I like it though.

But I think have consequences to the things you do should make the game interesting, this is a zombie apocalypse, not a safe fishing trip. If you go hunting, you should be at a higher risk of hostile contact. I think it makes the game more authentic, realistic, and fun.
-
I like the idea of fishing on a boat.
-
I agree haha.
-
If you survived the initial outbreak of the infection, eating a fishy probably wouldn't affect you. EDIT: The initial outbreak was the worst of it.
-
You would be forever looking behind your back because the ocean is on the coast, unless you fish in a lake surrounded in the middle of a forest or something. Other than that you have a big target on your back.

Look up Cody Lundin, and his show Dual Survival on Discovery Channel. The guy goes barefoot AND puts on short shorts in Colorado's harsh winters. Also, in primitive times, the human race was designed to run barefoot, in modern times, not as much, but in studies, runners run faster barefoot than with shoes on. EDIT: Wasn't barefoot in Colorado episode, I think he was barefoot in most other episodes.

But that's what separates you from the average player or bandit. -
I like it. Thank you :D

Killing a TON of infected should give you some humanity. Killing in self defense should not add to humanity or decrease it. Healing or helping anybody should give some humanity. Etc etc. -
I like it, and the surface of the walls should affect the energy used climbing them
