Why are you against many military items in game?
musketeer replied to CrazyCorky's topic in General Discussion
In a game focused on survival, you wouldn't expect half a server of people to be running around in full military grade gear. Loot spawns a huge issue for the game, and I believe that the devs will try to find a way of ensuring that loot spawns where it should. ie, no massive stashes of weapons and ammo, civilian weapons on sensible places with a sensible amount of ammo, and a sensible smattering of survival loot. -
We get cars when the devs add them to the game.

The stupidest people you've met....
musketeer replied to thelonewarrior's topic in General Discussion
Probably not as bad as yours, but here's my one and only stupid encounter. I spawned in Elektro's north firestation after a server crash. I only had an axe and basic supplies. However, after about a minute of looking around the station, and going to the top floor I hear footsteps. A guy with a fully kitted out M4 walked up the stairs with his gun pointed at me, and I just run at him holding down my mouse button to hit him with the axe. I hit him a couple of times, but he just backs away down the stairs. When he reaches the 1st floor of the tower he stands in the corner and I kill him, taking all his stuff. I'm surprised he didn't shoot me at all, he had a bunch of ammo and an FNX. -
Not sure if my suggestion deserves its own thread, so I'll put it on here, because it's on topic. If, when damaged, you swayed a bit more (decreased accuracy) and had inhibited vision a few moments after undergoing severe pain it would stop things like OPs situation from happening. This would replace the greyscale when there's blood loss, which I personally hate because my game looks ugly for most of the time.

I'm getting really tired of all of these "The playerbase is evil" topics. The Dayz mod was more difficult to get/install or whatever, so a more niche group of players actually played it. With the early access release, and the recent hype for zombie/survival games, more mainstream players are playing the game. Not to say that all mainstream players are dicks on the game, but I would imagine a higher proportion of them are than the old niche that played the mod. Right now, KOS is satisfying and has very minor repercussions. However, as the development progresses and we get more zombies, damaged loot that does something, balancing of weapon loot spawns etc, there will be a decline in KOS. Right now, zombies are a nuisance, so Dayz is effectively a human hunting game for some people. When zombies are a threat, and damaged items become useless, the thrill will come from having to stalk and hold up someone, without being found by a vast horde of zombies. Players will also have to work together to go into towns lick cherno, so may make temporary alliances to loot. Of course, they may double cross you, but that's better than running across a road and being shot at for 2 seconds out of nowhere and dying.

Why aren't there 'fat' characters in DayZ?
musketeer replied to TheMachine's topic in General Discussion
1st rule of Zombieland: Cardio. Seriously though, I think it would be hilarious to see a bunch of... larger characters running though cherno. Hell, they could even add physx for all the jiggling for uber-immersion. -
Just going to point out... that's not 2 barrels. The bottom "barrel" is a tube where excess gas can escape from the gun when firing.

DayZ SA Event: The Elektro Peace Walk
musketeer replied to chernojourno's topic in General Discussion
This is going to look bloody stupid, by the sounds of it. A bunch of unarmed people walking down the street, most likely being followed by a couple of mic spammers running in circles, being defended by a couple of geared-up guys. Not to mention the zombies that'll be swarming around you in their special glitchy way.... Sounds like what happens when a Head of State goes out... -
DayZ SA Event: The Elektro Peace Walk
musketeer replied to chernojourno's topic in General Discussion
You do realise what's going to happen, don't you? Seeing as you're properly organising it, a small group of troll bandits are going to get the date/time and kill you all as you walk. -
I've just had an image from Hot Fuzz.... So many guns! Will you bring that shotgun and have a shootout with me?
-
I hope they add a weight system, so people who do decide to carry an excessive amount of guns will be prevented from running or summin', just to balance it out a bit.
-
They should just add tracksuits. Dress like a shop-lifter and you should be able to cram a feast into your pockets.
-
Well, if I were a newspawn like you suggested... I'd run through the zombies towards the guy in the house, bringing the horde with me so we can both die together :D

Huh.. seems like you're the only one having consistent server lag, unless you're joining servers with high pings. The server browser, by default, puts a ping limit of 100 on the listing filter. The server change timer also only lasts 5 minutes. After 5 minutes of waiting you should have alt+f4-ed and tried again.

This looks suspiciously like politician speech. I'll translate. Some people like to get guns and supplies really quickly, while avoid a key element of the game - searching for items. They've stopped me from easily being able to server hop so I can have a mosin and LR scope within thirty minutes, so I can shoot new spawns from a hill top and not have to move myself from my hill. Metagaming ruins games all the time, and I think DayZ should be no different, so don't introduce a tiny inconvenience that shouldn't effect my game experience if I play the game properly in an attempt to mitigate it.

To those who dislike the new combat logging timer
musketeer replied to africanhungergames's topic in General Discussion
I would agree with this, because it stops the issue of ghosting, but doesn't make you vulnerable completely when you log out. -
What will make me trust another player? Solo players v. Solo player
musketeer replied to Gimpylung's topic in General Discussion
If I see someone who doesn't see me and they have a gun, I will avoid them if I can. If they have a melee weapon/no weapon, I will approach them with my gun out (In case they try to beat me to death). If I need anything, such as food, I will offer a trade. A couple of days ago I gave a guy 10 mosin rounds (He had an unloaded, roundless mosin) for a can of spaghetti. From his manner I could tell pretty certainly that he wasn't going to shoot me, but I ran into a house while he wasn't looking to make sure he wasn't using those bullets to seek me out and shoot me after I'd left. Be cautious and be clever and you should be able to have interaction with players without blowing their heads off or them doing the same to you. -
Nobody is going to enjoy being a pack mule for a couple of guys with guns. If everyone has stuff that they need, it means that if one of them dies and all the stuff gets ruined it's less of a loss. If you think about it mathematically, it's far more effective for each person to carry what they need, as well as carrying guns.

This is kind of a... junk post I suppose? There's dozens to posts addressing random players that serve no real purpose. On topic, though, server hopping in a firestation is pretty stupid. The best you can get is a revolver, fnx, pistol ammo and handcuffs...

I would find having to play a specific "class" to be boring. The only way I would really define a class in a group is by what weapon you use. When I play in a group/in a pair we usually take different guns so we're more effective is more situations.

Encountered one cheater (I think). A couple of friends and I went to balota and were just about running through the door to the ATC tower when we all lagged out for a second or two. We then heard gunshots and were apparently being shot through a wall. We quickly checked upstairs, bullets still whizzing past our heads through the wall, and then disconnected. Luckily we survived, and I still have a couple of ruined canteens from the encounter.

The current implementation of the logout timer is trollish.
musketeer replied to airtonix (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Having to wait "X hours" before joining a new server, or face a penalty, is ridiculous... I personally feel that the logout timer should be kept in the in-game menu. So you stay on the menu for 30 seconds or whatever, and then you can press "disconnect". That way, you can abort the logout if someone tries to take advantage of you. The reason a waiting time to join a new server is stupid is because servers crash. If a server crashes, I don't want to wait 1 hour+ just to play again. -
Your English is perfectly fine for an online forum :P Personally, my best feeling would be shooting some bandit guy from 300+ meters away after seeing him kill someone, with one bullet. Although I haven't done this yet, I've been practicing on zombies for the day.

I think it's difficult to generalise. In my experience, UK players with mics are generally very immature and will sometimes cheat (Server hop to a new position) to kill you. I met a guy who didn't have a mic yesterday, who I gave 10 mosin rounds for a can of beans. However, he only had an axe and a mosin with no ammo, so was safe to approach. If I see anyone with a gun, I will keep an eye on them and try to approach, but I'll be ready with my trigger if they look at me before putting the gun away. Side note: People who combat log when you see them, but don't have a gun are 99% of the time some noob wannabe bandit. If they don't say anything to you and just stand there, shoot them please. Also, I'm from the UK and don't generally KOS, even though I may seem hostile when I first approach, sticking a gun in your face and such.

Fix The North West Airfield (Nwaf) [Civilianize]
musketeer replied to alaskafish (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I would like to see a more civilian focus on DayZ, and an airport would be a nice addition. In my opinion, NEAF should be expanded slightly to be the main military airport, and NWAF should be the civilian one. That way you have both, but both are different.
