  1. Loot respawning is better than a server restart for a number of reasons... 1. Loot respawning can be done gradually and randomly. Instead of a restart and suddenly all the buildings have stuff, loot will gradually respawn in random locations, depending on how much has been picked up. 2. Server restarts can screw with you playing the game. If you're in a firefight and the server restarts you'd better reconnect before the other guy does to avoid being shot before you can even see anything. 3. If every server restarted every 4 hours, you'd get a massive surge of players connecting/disconnecting, which would put the main hive under pressure, causing lag for several minutes. 4. You might be disconnected in the middle of cherno, after killing dozens of zombies. When you rejoin, the zombies will be back, making your previous effort worthless and your ammo wasted (later in the development when there are more zombies).

    Blood VS Saline.

I have no idea why anyone would use blood now... You have to find a donor of the right type, which means finding 2 blood testing kits, along with a blood bag and IV starter kit. Saline is just 2 items and restores health to full, whereas blood bags only give you 1000. Blood bags are pretty redundant imo, unless you cannot find any saline, or if they make it so you can do it to yourself.

The Alpha NEEDS a SUICIDE option!

I doubt suicide would be implemented, but your best bet is disinfectant spray and fresh fruit, know what I mean? Committing suicide without a gun is probably quite difficult. With an axe or any other melee weapon it would be hard to get a good bash into your skull. You could also try overdosing on drugs, I hear that's popular with the celebrities these days.

    Ditched 3rd Person Servers.

Congrats op, although if I were to be blunt, I don't think you needed to make a whole new thread about it. I use both 3rd and 1st person for different things, but if you only want to use 1st that's fine and it's nobody else's business. People need to relax over this debate really, It's just a game and we don't all need to use the same playstyle. 1st person only servers are up now, so those few that are still complaining, saying 3rd person should be removed should probably stop. EDIT: And let me tell you, 1st person on a 24 inch screen screws with you a bit.

Let's talk about Perma Death (No Bug talk)

OP, I kind of understand where you're coming from. It's the same every time you respawn. Go to the same place, get the same loot, get killed, repeat. However, once tents. camps and vehicles are added you can have more of a permanent game on a server. Say you have a humvee that you keep in a particular forest and that you keep a mosin, pistol, some food and the likes in it. If you die, you can go back to the humvee instead of starting all over again. You could change location every week, trade, help people etc. This should add variety in the long run and keep you entertained.

Will they be *able* to fix it?

Thing is, when someone dies they go in to a flat-on-the-floor model based upon where they were looking before their untimely demise. If you're facing a call and someone shoots you in the back of the head, you're going to fall through the wall no matter what. The engine doesn't support ragdolls as far as I know. I have no idea why stuff glitches with the floor. It's probably the way buildings are different to the ground. It seems like they're not attached to the map, but rather objects themselves. They'll fix it eventually, tis only alpha, and a very early one at that.

    FPS lags anyone?

The engine isn't optimised to deal with large cities. Everyone has the problem. Turn the scene detail down to low or very low and see if that helps. If not, go into the config file and lower it manually to something like 60000.

    After new patch random resolutions

Find the config file in documents/dayz and change the resolution to your full screen. Whatever you set it to is what DayZ thinks your 100% resolution is, so put it in right.

    ## hour player lock / Gear locked to server!

I think a better suggestion would be to add a 10-20 second delay from clicking "log out" to actually being able to log out (stops battle logging in its tracks). 5 minute to 10 minute wait before connecting to another server would be good. Most people play Dayz for an hour or more on one server, so 5 minutes wait isn't too bad before going to a new server if it crashes or whatever. Most people server hop simply because they can. I do it on occasion because I don't want to run around for 3 hours getting the bare minimum of loot, just to get shot by some paranoid fellow with a gun who saw me down the street. Chronic server hoppers, those that you kill by chance who have 10 mags with an m4 with pristine parts and an Acog, but no food, are another problem. Having a waiting period of 5 minutes to connect to a new server would severely hamper their activities. The 10 second logout timer would mean that they can't log out at the first sounds of footsteps down the barracks hallway.

    Using the Hotbar for items.

The hotbar is a bit clunky atm, I agree. Sometimes it stops you from running, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes you get your weapon out, sometimes it just puts it back onto your back. It's inconsistency has cost me a lot of blood D: (literally). Hopefully it'll improve as they patch/develop.

Dean "Rocket" Hall, may I ask a Favor?

If someone can afford a console on release, I can guarantee that they can afford an OK pc within a couple of months of saving. Microsoft and Sony were boasting about the "power" of their next-gen consoles before release, but they're still ridiculously slow compared to a PC such as mine, which isn't even amazing, but it can play most games. If you tried to run Arma II on normal quality, with none of that optimisation magic devs do for console, both the PS4 and Xbox One would keel over, foaming at the mouth and die. Sticks are also awful for shooter games, so cross-platform servers would be hilarious. You'd have console players spraying 60 rounds down a street at you, failing to hit you. That, or they have ultra low sensitivity and take 10 minutes to do a full 360.

    Really bad lag? Anyone?

Yup, jumping around when I'm running every so often. Not too bad for me, though.

    Guns amd Ammo

Honestly, the ammo and gun spawns are alright as they are, because they're not abundant on a single server. I would like to just see them spawn in places that make sense. Something I like the idea of is mosins and other civilian weapons having a low chance of spawning in residential areas, with about 10 rounds in the same house because it make sense. Military weapons should really only be spawned in military bases and such, as well as some ammo. However, I think military weapons should spawn with little ammo around them (because they would have been used) and then have the ammo spawn elsewhere, in abandoned transport truck or warehouses for example.

    Invisible zeds and loot

I'ts a bug. Some servers seem to work for some people, but not for me.
  15. musketeer

    Invisible zombie is attacking me.

I just had this exact same problem, no blood except when it hit me, but I think I lost some colour.... Bandaged anyway. I'm also finding no loot, which is weird.

    Server hoppers: A renewable resource.

Me and two of my friends found a guy in a military base. We told him that we were going to take some of his ammo, then let him go. He instantly DCed, but moved to a different server to change location. He got back in in a different set of barracks, so we shot him. He did the same thing again as we were leaving and shot us all while hiding in a bush. It's ridiculous and it's driven me to shooting anyone I see with a gun. Maybe adding a delay to disconnect for 20 seconds or something, or putting a wait time to re-connect to a different server. This won't solve the problem, but it'll mitigate it somewhat.

How do you prepare to log off?

In forests or in the corner of some loot-bare building. I did once log off in NW AF control tower but was fine when I logged back on.
  18. musketeer

How do you deal with other players?

With current char, I've seen 2 people, both at Balota. The first one shot at me as I was leaving one of the barracks, the other had an axe and told me he's freindsly and that I shouldn't shoot him. As people have said, I don't shoot people I can better because there's no point. I already have all the stuff I need. But when moving north I generally KOS, because I don't want to be shot after finding an m4 and tons of ammo. However, if I am able to sneak up on someone, I will tell them to stay still or be shot. I may loot them, I may not. I suppose it depends on how they react to me :D
  19. As you can see from the title, i'm looking for some people to play with. Reason being, all my friends are playing that terrible "game", The WarZ. General info about me is that i'm in the UK, relatively experienced in DayZ (never got any good loot, but managed to kill a couple of bandits and survive) and kind of know locations. I'm not looking for a community, so don't try and advertise on here, i'm just looking for 1-3 people willing to start out fresh with me on a server (I have one in mind if it's needed). You don't need to be an "elite" of the game, but i'd prefer mature-ish players so I don't get stressed out :P (it's stressful enough as it is). If you're interested, reply here or pm me and we can exchange steam/skype/whatever info. Thanks.
  20. There's two times i've encountered another survivor: First time was in a factory, where I had trouble picking up an axe, gave up, went to the walk ways and saw a guy with an axe crouched in the door way, i told him not to shoot (couldn't see his weapon at first), and he ran off. Second time was an unarmed guy at some hangers by the cost (not familiar with place names), and I had a makarov and an axe. I let him follow me for a bit, but the server restarted. I feel i'm more inclined to ask friendly and stay put until they leave, unless they're unarmed. One guy I did find with a gun fire warning shot, but got chased by a bunch of zombies. They went out of me render distance, but I went back to see if he was dead or if I could help him (or loot his gun :P), but got shot at and saw him behind a tree, it was the last thing I saw...
