    the doomed one...

You should walk around at night wearing that bag on your head holding a shovel. You'd freak out the most hardy of players :D

Kiev Riots - DayZ SA Gear Inspiration

Those photos are amazing, and yeah, that king of stuff would look really cool in game.
  3. I would agree that nights are too dark. I've spawned on servers during night time and thought I'd got stuck loading due to the darkness. I personally think the image should go grey and slightly blurry, like in real life.

    Hackers

Exactly the same thing happened to me and my 2 friends at balota. We ran into the ATC tower, lagged out a bit, heard gunfire and started getting shot through the wall. The building was empty and we were able t disconnect before we died. Obviously the guy was a noob at the game, because he couldn't shoot for crap.

    "Its Alpha"

The thing that really annoys me is when people make posts like "They need to fix this bug NOW, because it affected ME in a negative way!" (although, usually not as eloquent as that). They probably have a schedule to follow with bug fixing, and we don't dictate that schedule. Just play the damn game, find bugs, report them, repeat. Don't go whining on the forum because you lost loot that took you 2 hours to find because of some bug. You bought this game knowing full well this could happen, so grow up.

Curious about peoples 'Rules of Engagement'

Generally, melee armed/unarmed people I leave alone. Anyone with a gun within a range of engagement I shoot at. If they run away, they run away. I don't chase people, and I would rather get a clean kill, rather than having to move closer and check if someone is dead. If I hear shooting, I try to stay away, but make sure that I know where the gunfire's coming from. The best thing to happen is that I see people leaving alive from that area, so I know which places to avoid.

    Player spawn /Item spawn (weapons)

You obviously didn't understand what I meant... BEFORE the outbreak or whatever, nobody would really have guns, unless they were farmers, policemen etc. Guns wouldn't just be readily available. I would say The Walking Dead is a bad model because it's the wrong area and the wrong scale. It's supposed to be over the period of over a year. It would have taken them weeks to get guns and enough ammo for them all. Also, you said yourself "You're not the only survivor". All the easy to find guns would have been taken, by your logic. All I'm suggesting is that guns spawn in areas that make sense in quantities that are justifiable. Ammo should also spawn more spread out. A few mosin bullets in a few houses outside Cherno would make sense.

    Player spawn /Item spawn (weapons)

Once there are more weapons (hopefully more civilian weapons) spawns will be easier/more realistic. The majority of available weapons would be civilian ones, so pistols, rifles and shotguns should be more common than m4s and other such military guns. I should also remind you that Chernarus is an ex-Soviet area, so there will most likely be old Russian guns from the 70's and 80's. M4s would generally not be around. This would also mean that guns aren't generally very common. Yes, you would probably find a shotgun/rifle in a farm, but it's nothing like The Walking Dead -.- Guns would generally be kept out of civilian hands.

    Melee weapons clumsy?

I have killed a fair few zombies by circling around them and holding the mouse button, beating them slowly to death. The thing about melee weapons is that the animation isn't synced up with the damaged. With an axe, it's a one-hit kill, so it's not very noticeable. But when you have to smash a zombie repeatedly with a blunt object, it becomes annoying to find half your hits don't land. The engine wasn't built for melee weapons, but I'm sure they'll improve.

DayZ Standalone - Only 1 Purchase!

You do know this has been discussed countless times already? People always worry, but it seems that, by default, you pay into an alpha, and get the full game. I have seen no games where to have to pay for alpha access and the final game.

    poems from apocalypse

Running through Cherno; I hear a gunshot nearby; I die in the road.

    The starting "kit" bothers me.

Don't you guys know the real Dayz story? After the virus spread, the Predators picked up the world's most 1337 players from around a part of the Eastern Bloc and put their consciousness into real bodies. They then drop some crappy tinned food, a bunch of rotten fruit and guns that aren't 100% accurate to make them all really annoyed and angry. They watch, and laugh.

so... thats what u want Rocket ?

Not sure if anyone else has noticed, but some of those suicide victims were miles away from the ledge... I see a competition starting.

    Glitches walls

It's an alpha. The devs are aware of this by now. People know this happens (it's never happened to me) so should be cautious. Expect to lose your stuff all the time.

What are your thoughts on the FNX 45?

I killed a guy who had an m4 with it. He was crouch-walking up the stairs and saw me. I assumed he wasn't friendly seeing as he said nothing and pointed his gun at me, so I unloaded something like 7 rounds into him as quickly as I could.

    Ultralight Aircraft

Ultralights would be... really interesting. You can get some that carry 2 people, so any heroes could use them as a cheap taxi service, or friends could just go out and have a fly :D Compared to larger planes and helicopters, they would probably easy to fly, take off, land and hide. All you need ot do is find a semi-flat, large open field and you're off.
  17. That's true, but Steam game banning would certainly mitigate. We just have to hope that the hackers who are new to this game when it's fully released aren't stupid enough to "buy" them off someone. I believe torrents are much more difficult to get/do on Steam only games. Correct me if I'm wrong. DayZ also requires a constant internet connection, so servers should be able to detect any hacks.
  18. Dayz is a niche game, although the sales would suggest otherwise... Personally, I think SA is more inviting (?) than the mod. In the mod, I got a gun and had no idea what to do/got bored. Now, for some reason, I know where I want to go and what I want to do. Although, this is probablydue to the fact that I did reading, something new players should do. Read the wiki and watch videos.
  19. Full price for DayZ is going to be more than £20 (or your regional equivalent). If they are locked out from using it on Steam, the hackers will have to make a new account and buy a new game. Sooner or later, they're going to run out of money, and time will be wasted. It will probably heavily mitigate hacking, or end it altogether.
  20. Exactly the same thing happened to me and my 2 friends at the military base south of NWAF. We were going to hold up a guy and take half his ammo, but as soon as we said "We're going to take 2 mags from you" he DCed. He then spawned back in inside a barracks we were searching and we shot at him, but he logged out again. We decicded to leave quickly, and stood by the outside wall deciding where to go. However, the guy relogged in a bush or something and we couldn't see him. He shot us all dead. Never combat log or server hop to kill people. They're both on the Seven Deadly Sins of DayZ list in my mind :P

What random events would you like to see?

I think fishing boats randomly appearing off the coast might be cool, along with other suggestions in this thread. You could swim out to them, or find a smaller boat (later on in the development) and go there. They would probably have a magnum or mosin, food, water, medical supplies and maybe even a working engine :D

    Please undo today's patch asap

For god sake, the number of people that don't realise what causes rubber banding... The hive was DDOSed, which caused rubber banding. It would be safe to assume that it's still going on. A patch wouldn't be so bad that it overloads the main server, and if it was the devs would have reverted it by now.

    Let's make it happen Rocket

If there were a museum, all the stuff in it would be Russian/Soviet. There might be an axe or something that they used to use, but all the firearms would be deactivated.
  24. musketeer

    Blood VS Saline.

Exactly. It would be easier to find a couple of bags of saline in Elektro and Cherno than to find a blood testing kit and take blood from someone.

My opinion on Killing on sight...

I only KOS people with guns that have seen me. Most people either kill everyone, or kill people who have guns, so it's the safe option. People with axes and such can't hurt me unless they're close, so I'll caution them and tell them to be on their way. Example: Spawned in the fire station, guy comes upstairs with an m4 and I quickly axe him to death, because he's obviously trying to get some distance to shoot me. Another guy comes up armed with a mosin, so I shoot him. Example 2: I go downstairs in the Airtraffic control tower in Balota and see a guy with a large backpack with no weapon. I tell him that there's nothing upstairs (It was the truth) and to move out of the building and go elsewhere before I leave. He runs up the stairs to me, so I shoot him. Example 3: I'm just about to leave Balota after searching the barracks. A guy with an axe comes round the corner with an axe and gets on the ground saying "friendly!". I tell him that I'm not going to shoot him and that the barracks had been cleared out. I moved past him and used alt to make sure he wasn't following me.
