OK fixed...i'll have to get used to my new skinnier character!

Well that dude is dead now! To be fair i was just looking around on top of a cooling tower, waiting to see someone. Was quite unexciting. Just "You are Dead", did not even hear a shot! Suppose that'd be how it would happen in real life! lol. Since then I've died a few times! What do I need to do with my aspect ratio? I'll look in the forums...

Well I've tried to become socialable, I've moved into a city. Strange round house obviously owned by someone with rebellious children, 2 of the rooms have bars across the doors. Haven't met anyone other than a dude on the beach whom looked incredibly hungover so I left him alone... So this is my dude's kit:

But it looks cold outside.....

So I've just started playing SA and really enjoying it! However... I have now got a rifle of some description, 28 bullets, lots of food and drink, healthly amount of clothes and style and finally sitting in a nice detached house out in the country. As my life goals IRL have been achieved (security, food, water and a nice home)... What do I do now? I kind of need to get a pan so I can cook my meat but very nervous about dying now!! When you've got to this position, if it's your aim... What do you do next?

Holy crap I am in so much pain with laughter! Fantastic!

Video: Suddenly BIRDS! BIRDS EVERYWHERE

Or even bird circling players low on blood! -
How very mature. I'm not really sure what your contributions to this thread have been other than "OP is obviously shit" and "I like to make myself feel big by putting others down". I've played this game for about 30 hours in total and this was my first time shooting a DMR at range. Unfortunately with my life I don't have time to practice before playing the game. I had a moan about the player and not the game mechanics, I also pointed out that I am still learning and indeed was a rubbish shot at the time. Wasted about 1 minute of your own life about there...

Lol I know, first time I've tried shooting someone at 500m +, have Youtube'd aiming with a DMR, will hopefully be 1 shot 1 kill soon!

Only if he shot recently though, no?

Decided to go Sniper hunting in Cherno, I started sneaking around the hills around the north when I heard AS50 shots and low and behold, on the top of the Sniper Tower (one with the big lettering) there's a Sniper sneaking around. I range him up at 750m and take aim with my DMR. Expected to need 4 dots on the vertical but the round landed quite low, so somewhere between the last dot and thick strip... Fired another round and was again low, but sooo close. He hid behind the structure on the top of the tower. I waited... Sure enough he rolls out facing me, I fire but miss again (damnit!) then go to fire another shot and he disappears! If you're going to spend your time sniping people, MAN UP AND DIE when your cliché sniping spot gets you up shit creek. Never been so frustrated! After half an hour he didn't come back, guess he moved server and skulked away! Also, that's the furthest I've tried to shoot someone, it's blood difficult! FYI this was on Dayz - FR129 server about 2 hours ago!

I had a revenge incident recently... I was walking in a field when I was ambushed by 3 bandits who came charging down the hill at me shooting away. I fired a couple of bursts back and took cover behind a hay bail where I could counter attack. I engaged one and lobbed a grenade at the other as they were trying to flank me. Did not know if I took any out but saw two run away. I ran to a hay bail further away when I saw the corpse of the bandit who I engaged with rifle fire (L85). I quickly ran over a looted him, finding some nice items. I decided to get revenge. The bait was already set so I lay in a field in a good position to engage anyone who would come back to recover their loot. Sure enough about 10 minutes later 3 people pop their heads over the hill. 2 go prone in overwatch whilst the 3rd was sneaking his way to his body. I decided that the only way to guarantee victory was to flank the 2 on overwatch. I crawled until I got behind the hill and climbed on a bit rock which they were both prone behind, facing away from me. I fired 1 placed round into the head of the bandit on the right, a large burst into the one on the left. Somehow I missed the one on the right (!?) and he started sprinting. I ran in the opposite direction, cue a rifle engagement - battle and manoeuvre. My ghillie suit saved my life, we both fired bursts then moved further and further away. Unfortunately I never felt brave enough to attempt to loot the 2nd chap I shot. Was a very intense experience, loved it and the sound of the bullets whizzing by really adds to the realism. My heart rate was about 180BPM!

DayZ Standalone Closed Testing?
JohnYasmar replied to pr3llox's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It should be decided based on several factors: What rig you're running - as much variation in processor, graphics card, OS etc to ensure stability across a range of systems Your experience - have you tested games before, can you write a good bug report, can you understand a little of the underlying code to help identify the causes of bugs Your available time - how many hours can you guarantee There is also the confidentiality aspect but a good marketing campaign will try to drip feed the game to the masses via the social outlets such as Youtube. Good luck, it's not an easy job choosing 1000 beta testers! -
Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?
JohnYasmar replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Looks like I'll need to build a new PC! Love the idea of damaging loot through killing. Will make being a bandit more difficult and less rewarding - no bad thing! -
What would you do in a close engagement?
JohnYasmar replied to LilBambi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
On the several occasions I've saw them before they've seen me I'll direct chat them, ask if friendly, if they say yes I ask them to bugger off because I don't want to team up, if they don't respond I'll keep an eye on them and be prepared to engage. Recent record is that each person who I saw without being seen left very quickly without spotting me.
