Just got an email from HFBServers telling me that they've listened to their customers feedback (like **ck have they) and they've come up with a brand new package to replace the DayZ Ultimate 1.0, it's called DayZ Ultimate 2.0 ... they then list a load of improvements which look exactly like the old version with the added surprise of "All mods now updated by default" , which I think means that for people like me who modify their mods with custom scripts, that we'll be waking up one morning to find all our hard work replaced with this months latest Epoch/DayZ/Whatever Mod build without so much as a "don't worry, its your server, take your time and update your scripts first..."!!!!!! What's that? The noise of a dozen pissed off regulars wanting to know why all that cool shit you spent days on no longer works... Never mind I'll tell them, I'll just stay up after work during a week day AGAIN, you know because I'd normally do this at a weekend, but HFBServers would like me to do it their way!! Who am I to complain, I'm just the guy paying the bill... Then the email goes on to TELL me .. Oh shit, so if I don't pay you $10 for this "forced" upgrade I'm kinda fk'd for support until you decide to upgrade me for free, which may happen sometime in the next seven weeks (way to go with the pressure sell there HFB).. Oh and not to mention that I'll be losing my IP address (again)... There was absolutely nothing wrong with my service HFBServers, so why can't you just leave me alone with my 1.0 ?? WHY ?????? If you want to provide a proper update to your service, simply answer your bloody support tickets and sort out the shitty lag.. Other than that, it's ok..I don't want automatic updates to my mods, No, leave it alone.. Go away! I'll do my own updates thank you very much!!!

Actually, think it was possibly placebo on my part.. What did work though was following the in-game graphics settings guide, especially turning off the Anti**** settings and increasing the 3D resolution to match my display resolution. I still lag out in towns and cities, but everywhere else gives me a good 18-22 frames , whereas before I'd get 10-15 at best.. I'm using a laptop and can't afford anything better lol :)

Edited: Managed to get it working. Great tutorial, thanks for the advice. I've seen a good 3-5fps increase with the sd card suggestion, which is weird because I never thought that would actually work :)

I've been told on several occasions by Dayz.st that they can't support me because I'm using a custom pbo (we are still talking about custom scripts here, right?). Plus, they don't offer "custom" script installation , period. If they do, then I'm calling you on your bullshit here because I've asked them to help with scripts before and they point blank refuse. Your up your own backside here buddy, using your scripts to make a profit???? All I see them doing is asking for payment to cover their time, you are obviously seriously butt hurt by this so I'll leave you to it because I feel a flamewar brewing here that I haven't time for. Oh my god, just realised. I actually set up and install peoples websites for them, not to mention going to their homes and companies to set up laptops with Microsoft Windows.. I charge them for this service, do you think I should be doing it for free? Looks to me like I'm making a profit out of other peoples work "software, scripts..." here, ooooh nooooo... Oh no wait, those other companies don't care ...

Dayz.st have the same policy with regards to support (why aren't they on the witch hunt list?), if you're using a custom pbo they won't help you either. I've had the same issues with other providers, when something goes wrong they ask you to try it with a vanilla pbo and that they can't provide support for custom pbo's. As for charging to install your scripts or fix errors relating to custom scripts for you, hell yeah I'd charge you too (its not different to when my clients mess up their websites with custom wordpress plugins. they broke it , not me, so why should I work for free to fix their mistakes?). As for the person who said that SS could simply create one pbo and then rename the instance each time, well that's the biggest laugh of all, when you consider that not everybody will want Sarge AI for example, or Self Bloodbag, or Tow and Lift, the list goes on. Then you've got those users that just don't stop asking for stuff, you fix one thing for free, then they come back and ask something else, you fix that for free then, and it goes on and on.. The more you do for free, the lazier the customer gets, it's a fact. As for the level of support relating to issues beyond the customers control and obviously caused by SS , then sure bash away. I can't comment on that aspect of things as I've not used them, but I can tell you that so far ALL the hosting companies I've been with have their issues. No single company has been perfect. So yeah sure this entire thread reads like a witch hunt to me. Complain about poor service and customer support all you like, that's your right but don't bash a company for refusing to give away their time for free..

We are looking for friendly Clans to join our Epoch Server. Once we get to know your Clan one member from your clan will get added to our admin group. We don't have admin maps, esp or anything like that, just basic rcon stuff like banning, kicking and warnings etc..
