    So Sacriel trolled everyone?

Hicks said something previously on twitter indicating a patch pre-Christmas, and rocket mentioned they have one more patch they want to put out before Christmas as well.. and now apparently Sacriel said the same thing. I think it's pretty much confirmed there will be a patch today.

Does any one else feel burnt out already?

I've definitely noticed a bit of burning out, but playing the mod since release for 4~5 months I know that content patches are released in quick succession so I'm not worried too much if I have to take a week or two off. The biggest things that are causing my burn out currently are (and sort of a suggestion on how to fix it): Lack of Gear Progression and Proper Loot Tiers: While I enjoy the completeness of the current guns there is definitely a feeling of stagnation and ease to the current gear progression. Finding key combat items like the combat vest and ballistics helmet usually only take 1 trip to a military base of your choice, and while the finding the Mosin is a rewarding experience due to its generally rarity the M4 seems as rewarding as finding your first makarov after spawning. Tiered spawns [Residential > Low tier Military (Balota, Stary Sobor) > Mid Tier Military (NW/NE Airfield) > High Tier Military (Heli Crash Sites)] are currently absent in the game, which makes the general flow of loot progression lack any direction and predictability, which is causing players to be completely scattered among the countless added military spawn locations. Lack of Danger: DayZ is a simple game at it's base and even with the countless mods and items added it is at its core a psychological experience that makes the user want to keep playing. The thrill of impending danger and paranoia is a staple that seems to be missing from the standalone possibly due to the current server player cap, but more likely due to the previous point. Walking through previously high risk / high reward areas such as Balota, Cherno, Electro, and even NW/NE airfield without ever getting shot at has created an even stronger feeling of DayZ: Hiking Simulator than previously felt in the mod. Rewards / Risks of Combat: Engaging an armed player usually only met two possible outcomes: You die, or he does. The psychological effects of dying suck, but losing all your hard earned stuff sucked more.. but the possibility of killing that player and taking their fancy new weapons that may just happen to be much rarer than yours (FN Fal, or similar) was a worthwhile risk back in the mod. As it stands now dying to another player means I have to server hop to regain all my lost gear (which usually only takes an hour tops, and is a predictable outcome due to loot tables) OR I kill him and two things happen: He stays in the game and I loot his body only to find that he is literally a carbon copy of my character with nothing but bullets worth scavenging or he leaves the server due to the respawn bug (or rage quit) his body disappears and I get nothing. Back in the mod there was a problem with bodies disappearing sometimes and it was really frustrating when it happened ONCE in a day, but now that combat involves this issue literally 95% of the time it makes PVP not worth while in the least, even for what little it offers currently. Lack of Endgame Options: Once you've got gear there is simply nothing to do. You can't camp out an area because there are about 40 places to get the handful of items in the game, you can't repair a vehicle, and you can't attempt to progress your character further through gear because that doesn't exist either. After attaining what you want to the game boils down to trying to find the other 39 people in the game and interacting with them in some way or another. Problem with that is the map is so large and hotspots are so scattered that the chances of finding another player who isn't a completely fresh spawn is slim to none unless you server hop to a fresh reset and hope for more server hoppers. The fact of the matter is the map and all its additions were designed around the goal of 150 players a server, and with just under a third of that currently available it just doesn't deliver the proper experience. Don't get me wrong I love standalone and I'm aware that rocket doesn't recommend getting the game because it is in the current condition it is, but this list was more of a response to the thread as well as what I feel is solid feedback.
  3. Box of Cereal / Bag of rice. Eat it from 100% to 0%, then find a well and fill your stomach until it says you feel really full. Everytime I've done this it has lasted me ATLEAST 3~4 hours before I've seen any indicators.

M4 spawn rate needs a nerf

First off 'spawn rate' doesn't exist in this game as it stands. Because of a bug and temporary system literally nothing can 'respawn' on a server without a client or server reset. Zombies, players and items never come back after being picked up. Now that we have that cleared up the reason why M4's are all over the place is because when a server freshly resets every 2~ hours all the loot respawns, but a large amount of the players who join the game already have the gun, so they are left on the ground. Another reason why M4's are seen as so ridiculous is because out of all the possible loot spawns that happen on server restart there isn't many options. Take a look at the DayZ Mod spawn chance chart: All those items have a CHANCE of spawning. Now remove 95% of those items and replace them with M4's and 5.56 ammo variants. Obviously you're going to see a massive influx of a single gun when the chance of finding that gun and it's ammo type are literally 80x higher than they were in the mod since there is nothing else to spawn. This problem will be repaired when we see more weapons added to the game, as most guns require their own ammo type or variant, which will have an equal chance of spawning. This will allow the player to find guns or ammo but usually not together. Just be patient as this problem will iron itself out. I know its frustrating and I'm right there with you. I find it hard to even enjoy PVP since everybody I kill has no possible chance of dropping anything other than something I already have, and ammo is never an issue.
  5. This happened to me yesterday. Certain servers are causing them. In my experience stick to Central / East / West servers. It seems the ones Ive had give me trouble are the specific location ones like Cali, NY..etc.

    Time to Release a Hotfix

It's time to release the patch Rocket said they were working on to be released before Christmas - it's getting ridiculous. I realize everybody is going home for christmas but they've already said the fix for disappearing bodies and respawn was finished but not released. Servers with respawns disabled, players disconnecting and bodies disappearing, along with respawn being broken so you have to disconnect to play again (which is forcing your own body to disappear) is forcing ZERO items into circulation and mass deleting them. This is causing servers that have been up for a couple hours (pre-restart) to be completely barren of items and players. Just release a hotfix addressing the disappearing bodies / not being able to respawn thing ATLEAST.. please.

    Time to Release a Hotfix

Regardless, he said the fixes were done.
  8. It's enabled but barely functional. you'd be lucky to get 10~15% out of your 2nd card. There was a video posted recently on the DayZ subreddit where someone was dual 780 TI's and a 4770K was only running at 35 FPS while on the coast. That's 1400 dollars in video card processing power alone. Arma's engine is just horrible, it's not you - it's them.

    Time to Release a Hotfix

lol I'm not mad, I'm just saying if the fixes are already done just throw them on a build with nothing changed except those two already finished fixes and go back to what they're doing. I know it's an alpha, I'm not upset and I know how to circumvent the system to get what I need already, it's just the fact that it's been finished since the 19th and we've been playing on a broken system for going on the 4th day while we wait for them to compile the fixes with a content patch. just sayin yo. aint mad tho.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

Well that was condescending. I've been playing DayZ since release, and have been browsing these forums since then as well. Welcome to the forums.. you must be a big deal. You clearly did not read my post whatsoever because I told you what I wanted him to say. It's not impatience it's simply a request for more tangible information, which is a reasonable and rational expectation. As I said, I do not expect to know release dates so "how soon" and "how fine" are not questions I would hypothetically ask because that is not what I was inferring in my above paragraph ...that would imply that I am looking for a progression report - which I'm not. All I'm looking for is reasons for the delay.

The last time Rocket logged in was Dec 28th. It can't be him - has to be someone else making a new username with a capital R. v Just noticed! LOL

    Gtx 260

The guy is talking about owning a 200 dollar card (560ti) and wanting to swap out for 2 100 dollar cards (260's) and you're recommending he get a 800~1000 dollar card? Clearly some reading comprehension is in order here. Anyways if you're looking for an upgrade to the 560ti (which I'm not sure why you are, it's perfectly fine) you're safest bet is to avoid buying the #60's from Nvidia. You might look at the 660's and see a bargain but the general consensus around the computer nerd community tends to be #90's last 4 years, #80's last 3 years, #70's last 2 years and #60's are under performing (at the leading edge) by a years time.. so I recommend a GTX 670. Not sure what CPU you're running though? If it's not a higher end i5 like the 2500K or an i7 chances are you're going to bottleneck on the higher end 600 series.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

If what you're saying could be said at any point in development and still make sense, it's not an update. Imagine being the supervisor asking your employee "how soon until you're done?" and for months they keep telling you "Almost done"... but it never seems to get anywhere. Are you still satisfied with the answer? No. The same can be said about the last 'update' we got from Rocket. We need some information so that we can at least get a basic grasp over how long the delay will be. I can understand that he is stressed about the project and taking a break is fine by me (everybody needs one) but the next time he gives us some information, let it be something of substance instead of something you could have printed on a stamp and reuse for years to come. We don't need development details or estimations (let us make those), but at least say something to the tune of "We weren't satisfied with the level of polish on some of the new features so we decided to delay to make the game everything it should be." or something along those lines.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

...We've played DayZ before - this isn't our first time. You make it out to sound like we don't know what we're in for if they release the game as is, but the fact of the matter is a lot of us have already played through the alpha, and even that is a miles ahead of anything WarZ offered. The additions that have been made to the game are simply that - additions... It isn't like he redid the entire game from the ground up and we don't know what we're getting ourselves into. For lack of a better word, the stand alone is like a BIG patch to the already developed game... so if he were to release it now (like he aimed to) it still would be far better than any 'rushed' game we've seen recently, simply because we already know that the BASE he started with is better, and any additions only make things more so. At least for me, the major reason why Standalone is such a big deal is primarily because of the anti-cheat systems that are being put in place, which I feel is the main reason why a lot of players were driven out in such quick succession back a few months ago. So since that has already been in place since the beginning a lot of people are getting impatient.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

Where are you getting these numbers? I could have sworn a couple weeks ago WarZ advertised over 600k copies sold. DayZ has 1.4 million... not to mention WarZ alpha has been purchasable for over two months.. thats 1/6 of an entire year. Pretty gross overexaggeration from "matter of hours". tbh, you kind of sound like you're from WarZ.

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

Maybe I've got no clue what I'm talking about here, but delaying SA because of WarZ seems like a step in the wrong direction. You have over 1.4 million players who have downloaded and played DayZ since it's release, and that clearly know the difference between WarZ and DayZ - so that alone proves it won't be affected that harshly. With a playerbase in the millions It would be pretty easy to imagine that word would spread pretty quickly (as it did on original release) that this isn't WarZ and is much better. It isn't like he is releasing the retail version of the game, and alpha has been widely advertised all through the site - sure there will be people who think it's actual release but with the amount of players going around I'm pretty sure it will get set straight. I could understand if this was his first time releasing DayZ and nobody knew anything about it, but that just isn't the case. It would be like Dice postponing Battlefield because a new CoD was released.. everybody knows what Battlefield is about, and everybody knows what CoD is about - so there is no point. I dunno, maybe I'm just frustrated, but I don't see the logic in postponing an alpha release of an already extremely wellknown and popular mod on account of some nobodies trying to make a carbon-copy.

    Spectating/Free-Cam Mode Possible?

This is the one reason why this feature will never exist on vanilla servers.

    What clothing will YOU wear???

If I had infinite possibilities I would probably wear something late autumn/wintery like a Hellghast uniform (without the mask) from Killzone 3.
