Adding some alternative zombie stat tables based on reddit discussion tonight to give more 'variety' to the zombie types in terms of speed, strength, eyesight/hearing etc. to avoid macro/micro gaming -

Dayz Standalone Zombie Thesis and Gameplay Mechanics

AH! Excellent point and something I overlooked. Walkers would have the most blood, prone-crawlers would have the least health as they are in a more degenerative state and almost dead. I will update the document later and note you as the suggester. Document updated with q1p0's suggestion -
Dayz Standalone Zombie Thesis and Gameplay Mechanics

the prone crawlers have a high % chance of grabbing your leg and not letting go don't forget, and they would be everywhere. The image I have in my head of somewhere like Cherno or Elektro is a city literally saturated with zombies. I don't have an image in my head where you can simply stroll into a big city. While I understand the inclination to 'reverse' the percentages on the zombie types, the fast walkers are meant to be 'deadly', I mean seriously fucking deadly, as in you REALLY want to avoid these bastards at all costs!! -

Addressing the two biggest complaints regarding First Person
guyver1 posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
http://youtu.be/SxRCS35SUuk This video is to address the common complaints I've seen in every thread arguing over first person v third person. This is NOT to convince the devs to favor one or the other. I made the video purely to address directly, the complaints about the two issues: 1. Headbob 2. FOV Hopefully, this will show a few people that its very simple to address both issues and maybe some people would like to give first person another go. Enjoy. -

See, the zoom feature (right mouse button and the other one, - key?) I think should be removed Unless your name is Steve Austin, your eyes can't magically zoom in. Personally I would like to see the zoom feature removed so that you have to find binoculars and use them. -

This for me. If Standalone ends up being 'unified' to the point where all servers have to have both 3rd/1st enabled I'll be looking for a different game. (and no-one will miss 1 player out of a million and i'm cool with that) -

Its not a third person shooter either, unless you join a .... oh wait, that's right, third person only servers don't exist.... -

Logical fallacy as I live and breathe. The day your eyes can extend 10 meters behind your head to allow you to look over things and around corners is the day those two will be comparable. -

Totally agree with the grass issue. Although once you find out about that, you basically never go prone in grass again unless you absolutely have to, just keep running and weaving and make yourself a wibbly wobbly moving target as best you can. -

Have you seen the number of people who complain about headbob simply because they don't actually know its an option?!!? Its insane! every 1st/3rd thread has any number of people complaining about the headbob. It doesn't take a genius to realise that they're complaining about it because they dont know the option even exists to turn it off! -

I didn't say it was 'about' the 1st/3rd argument as a whole. I specifically said that the video addresses two of the most commonly used 'reasons' for not giving 1st person a decent amount of time and simply defaulting to 3rd person. -

SOMEWHERE TO STORE ITEMS IN THE STANDALONE

no. why.. Perma Death the end. -
Two things: 1. The goal posts are the wrong way round, the stantions should be at the back as they hold the net away from the goal 'frame' 2. I thought all place names were going to be put in standard English wording so we can actually read them and know where the hell we are?

I agree, navigation would be screwed. But how do you resolve the issue of people deliberately avoiding the night and, in your own words, "dumbing down the realistic game world"?? Because lets be honest here, deliberately avoiding playing at night is 'dumbing down' your experience...
-
having the ability to essentially 'avoid' night time is wrong imho. All players should have to experience night play. no one plays for 24 hours as stated previously. The whole 'essence' of DayZ is survival, if you're choosing to avoid surviving certain elements, then you're not really playing the whole experience. The night time is supposed to be difficult, its supposed to be tense, frustrating, foreboding etc.. I would give my thumbs up to a shorter day/night cycle with the night being shorter than the day. I'm from the UK, I play on mydayz which is a German private hive which is GMT -5, I work full time so don't get to play until say 9pm, and I usually play for about 4 hours a time, so for me, personally, 3 hours of daylight and 1 hour or night would seem like a reasonable split between day/night.

Disadvantages To Carrying/Using AS50/M107
guyver1 replied to Dark Terror's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Weight system = excellent idea. guns going into backpacks = only if the gun could actually fit in it in real life. I would go further than the weight system (or rather I would take the weight system 1 step further) Volume system. Your backpack has a 'volume' in cubic cm's Every item naturally has its own volume. Every item naturally has its own weight. It shouldn't be too difficult to add a volume, weight, length, width and height parameter to each object so that your backpack, inventory, weapon carrying ability is much more realistic and also then by proxy affect your walking and running speed, but also your 'stance' When I say 'stance' I mean this: person carrying no weight, standing up can stand perfectly upright in a vertical position. A person carrying 80kg in a backpack has to lean forward to correct for their center of gravity. This would also affect your crouched stance as well. This could be shown in game with weight directly affecting your player model and would allow you to determine how much another survivor is carrying. I would love to see an end to the current ridiculous inventory system and having instead, a more realistic weight/volume/size based system.
