+1 for this idea, dayz need more things to do to other players other than killing them directly. This will add more drama other than "shoot on sight" I personally hate the fact that the only choice I have is to kill other people to get their gear, it takes away most of the fun in a "social" game. What if I can rob them instead? Or kidnap them? Silently takedown them to unconsciosness and have them wake up stripped of gear except for the things you intentionally leave behind? Of course, the problem is people can troll and leave a tied person behind for ages. But what if a mechanism is added, that the takedowns are not permanent? What if, since the handcuffs or ropes you find are "rusted" in such a way a player can break free of them after 15 mins unless you apply another cuff to them before that timer ends.

Currently dayz lacks the choice of what to do with other players other than killing them. Maybe disarm them, or tie them to a tree, or kidnap them, or actually robbing them without killing (having them drop their items). Most of the times this cannot be done cause they will try to shoot at you instead, since you have no means of "non lethal takedown". So if you meet other unknown player its either awkward moment of shoutings or direct pvp. No "drama" which I think "drama" is crucial in a "social experiment game" -

Tried it with a friend, when you are chasing someone using the searchlights they are too far to hear you and the sound of helicopter simply mask your voice. I wanted to shout something like "stop running, we come in peace" :D maybe helpful tutorial: And speaking of helicopter music, this one gotta be the best:

The bike and the boat (fuel-less transportation)

Hello all, We all know of the Old Bike, that bicycle that doesn't need any fuel My suggestions: - Implement a Rowboat, you know, that old wooden boat with oars. That doesn't need any fuel to operate, similar to the Old Bike. Good for island-hoppers who just want to get to the mainland quietly and efficiently. Maybe you can even have the oars spawning as a type of "repair material" for the boat and also a weapon - While the fuel-less transportation (the bike and the rowboat) doesn't use any fuel, as a drawback, it should create more hunger and/or thirst when you use them. Currently using the Old Bike doesn't even make you thirsty at all :D Which doesn't make sense in real life. - (Unrelated) Why isn't there any coconuts on the beach? Would make a decent food/water source -

Rather than music I want a helicopter loudspeaker so that anything i say in Direct Voice inside the helicopter gets "broadcasted" to the people below. There with that feature you can even play your own music by using stereo mix :P

Two things come to mind: Pripyat, Ukraine and Elena's tour of it http://www.kiddofspeed.com/ Real hospital with hospital rooms, biohazard signs, ripped-apart transparent plastic "isolation walls" and ER wards with bloodstained beds would be dandy as well, not the current "abandoned drugstore" we have right now. The current Chernaurus looks more like a war-torn country rather than a biohazard "ghost town" -
I agree that DayZ should be first preson only, since third person takes away the "fear factor" for example - look-or-not-look around that corner? go to third person, problem solved - any zombies around or behind me while i'm running? go to third person... - hear strange sounds? go to third person... 3rdp has took away most of the immersive factor in the game

Medieval Times mod.... in the future

The only problem is that in most medieval theme, zombies and undeads are already considered "normal" mobs that you find in caves etc. Any kind of zombie infestation would be very localized since the original human population spread is low, and thus can be finished switfly with the blade. On top of that, the presence of castles and walled cities makes a full scale apocalyptic zombie infestations unlikely. Which is why the threat of zombies in present day situation is way more scary since humans are so closely packed together and all cities are open ground. Also when people see a half dead personwalking down the street they don't yell "Foul creature! Kill it with fire!" anymore, instead they would call an ambulance... It's a good idea by the OP, but I don't see how it would logically make "sense" to have any kind of zombie apocalypse at that age in time -

So I guess the general idea in urban areas would be like this: - Zombies doesn't spawn right on the building (including courtyard) that was cleared as long as there are still players there - Zombies would spawn on the buildings around it and walk towards the cleared building -
Hmm on second thought, another survival game set in post apocalyptic future where the machines take over the world would be kinda epic DayT-1000 After all, roaming skeleton robots should be a tougher enemy than zombies, and just as scary Not to mention possibility of Hunter-Killer or HKs roaming the sky to scoop you into the experiment chambers :D But, that will be another game altogether

Oh no, not another leveling up suggestion thread! Well, read on: - Leveling up really does nothing that benefits you directly in the game or anything that makes you an omgwtf godlike zombie slayer - When you kill zombies and/or surviving in a zombie infested area (definitely not by sitting afk or crouching around inside a house) you gain some exp - When you kill a player you gain some of his exp (depends on level difference) - When you die, you lose all your exp and your level is reset to level 1 - Your level shows in the scoreboard for your e-peen/pride purposes or whatever Possible benefits: - For the survivors, added incentive for long-time surviving other than, well, surviving - Added paranoia since you lose something more than just gears when you die - For the bandits, added "that little something extra" you get for killing survivors other than his gear (which is probably inferior to your gear anyway) - That elitist feel (separates the skilled ones and the noobs) -

You mean theres a way to avoid being player killed in this game? Lately whenever I play DayZ I got shot on sight without warning, upon entering ANY city Game community is already on a deathmatch state, at least on the asian servers -
I think there was already a suggestion about radios and being able to use radio channels. The risk is that someone else can tune in to your "team" channel if they know the frequency and hear what you're up to. Or you can use skype.
