    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

Just gonna leave this here as I don't think many have seen it: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=26199&pid=238738#pid238738
  2. You may want to make mention of this in the patch thread to limit all those antsy folks in there who believe Rocket has forsaken them! :P
  3. As a member of the Commonwealth I fully trust our friends in the UK :D

Oh man I lol'd pretty hard after seeing this :D
  5. It was a worthy effort but it's probably best to only do the medical thing part time. Check the forums for patients or get with a group and dedicate yourself to being that guy who carries around the surplus medical supplies, so when someone shouts 'I'm out of bandages' or 'can someone give me a blood transfusion?' you're the man!

    Six Updater download issue

Definitely manual install Day Z. It takes no time at all and there are a dozen guides on how to do it with virtually any configuration: steam, retail, ArmA+Arrowhead, ArmA:CO etc..
  7. So much for Canadians being nice :D Signed, FieldMedic from Ottawa.

    Weapon Flashlights

A question about weapon flashlights. I recently picked up a Remington shotgun with a flashlight equipped and couldn't figure out how to switch the light on. 'L' was the logical choice but it didn't seem to work. Now, it was day-time when I tried this so maybe it isn't usable in the day and if that's the case then that's quite alright. I just wanted to know how it worked before it got dark and scary in-game :P
  9. Incidentally I also get this. I have the latest ArmA beta and Day Z version.

Secondary weapon: PDW or M9SD ?

If you plan to be sneaky I'd go with the M9SD. It's great for popping indoor zombies in the head or taking out aggro'd zombies without alerting the rest of the horde. It's not so good against other players I suspect but that's what your primary weapon is for. As a side note, the G17 is extremely quiet, it's much more accurate then the M9 and comes with a bonus flashlight. Ammo is also much more plentiful. It is, however, no more powerful then the M9 so you'll need to head shot things.

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

A bear trap should be just that, a trap. Something you don't see and stumble into. It should be easy enough to remove that it does not become an area denial weapon. Disarming (and presumably collecting) should be as easy as accessing the middle mouse button menu. No special tools should be required, we're not disarming land mines here. EDIT: Technically it is an area denial weapon, just not an insurmountable one :P

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

I don't see the problem with bear traps so long as you can just 'Middle Mouse Button -> Disarm'. If you need a tool box which, for me at least, is impossible to find, then yeah no thanks.
  13. - Trying to go prone in a deer stand but instead, end up falling out of it and breaking my legs and going unconscious. - Having my backpack delete my M9SD when I tried to swap to a G17 - Hospital glass not breaking after shooting it repeatedly - Throwing a grenade I thought was a flare :P

    Fun with Cans!

So I was a little bored today and decided to see how tin cans work. Turns out they work pretty well. Not as effective as say a flare or smoke grenade but they did grab the zombie's attention. I even managed to lure out some zombies who were inside buildings with them. So if you're starting over, I'd definitely suggest trying out the tin cans. They seem rather useful if you're aiming to be sneaky. Use them like a grenade if you didn't know already (Press 'F' until you see 'throw' in the top left corner)

    M4A1 CCO's Aimpoint not accurate

I was using the M4A1 CCO just last night and had no trouble hitting things. In fact I was surprised how far out I could pop a zombie with a carbine. Even in close quarters though, I've had no problems. Maybe the problem is the SD ammo you're using. I only have standard STANAG mags. As a side note I found: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Italian_Soldier_Olypmic_Games_Turin_2006.jpg while researching STANAG. I'm moving to Italy!
  16. lol! nice. Anyway, you could try watching the 'Need medical help' thread in the Survivor HQ forum for patiences. I'd also recommend Berezino hospital for supplies. I find it's the safest to raid.

Juking zombies is the way to play now

This will change if Rocket ever slaps a Stamina meter in the game :P

    M4 and M16 variant sights

I don't have any trouble with the M4A1 CCO. My suggestion, if you are experiencing difficulty, is to setup a quick custom single player mission with some target dummies and practice with your rifle of choice until you get a feel for it. The ArmA 2 custom mission editor is pretty easy to use.

    Looting barns and cities pointless?

I understand what you're saying about the medical supplies. I tend to play the role of a medic so I like to raid the Berezino hospital to ensure I have a lot of supplies to help people. It's also a challenge and a risk which helps spice up the game. I pick Berezino specifically because the hospital is a short crawl from the tree line and Berezino isn't quite the death trap Cherno and Electro are :D
  20. Are zombies spawning indoors making it unnecessarily hard for new characters to get started? Is sneaking past the outdoor zombies only to be denied items in a house because there's a Zed there, unfair? Is the game too clunky and zombie evasion too hit and miss to be able to dash in, grab items and dash out? Discuss below!
  21. I salute you sir! 07 Interested to hear how things turn out. I've been trying to provide medical aid wherever I can and there are few things more satisfying in this game then hiking out to a downed survivor and getting them back on their feet.

Dedicated Servers for the love of God

I would eventually like to see only servers hosted, run, managed and moderated by BiS to give the game some consistency and the Devs more control over how the servers are run.

    Looting barns and cities pointless?

Barns and cities do become less desirable to explore over the life of your character. There will still be reasons to go into cities for medical supplies, repair parts and maybe camo skins. Barns can still be good sources of canned food and drink if you're between ponds/fresh game.
  24. I do believe 'feeling lonely' is the point sir :P

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

    * [FIXED] Animal bodies despawn way too fast (now despawn automatically after 2 minutes) I personally think it should be more like 5-10 minutes. I was in a situation where I had shot a boar but there were zombies about so I had to crawl my way around the zombies and get to the boar. If the timer had only been 2 minutes long it would have despawned before I got there.
