In real life, you wouldn't be able to callously murder people more than a few times before going insane, unless you're a sociopath or something. The only time I've ever killed someone was out of fear mainly, not to take his stuff.

Tough luck man, I'd suggest looking for a server with fewer people in it until you get the hang of the game (and it's players).

I've been having some trouble with dayz recently. Most of the wikis and fourm posts regarding specific locations or items are still missing or out of date. I've tried researching this stuff high and low but cant get a conclusive answer, so I'm asking you guys. All of these questions pertain strictly to Stand Alone. 1. Have vehicles of any sort been implemented yet? Fishing boats, ATVs, Helis, Bicycles, etc? 2. How do you create a fireplace? I have matches, wood, etc, and still no go. 3. My pistol flashlight still wont function no matter what I do. Has this not been finished either? 4. I can't find any berry bushes, or anything more informative on the process besides a few wikis that tell me it can somehow be done. 5. Can you fish or hunt yet? 6. Can any axe chop a tree down and make wood? (firemans axe?) 7. Is there a range limit on the walkie talkie? 8. How exactly do you heal damage, without blood or saline bags? I pulled it off by eating and drinking a ton, but a friend of mine got the same "energized" and "hydrated" statuses I did but not the "healthy" or "healing" ones. 9. Has anyone else had a problem with loose ammo disappearing when you try to stack it sometimes? Especially when you take it out of a weapon (yes I have empty inventory space). Sometimes when I try to stack ammo it actually makes the ammo I already had drop in number also. 10. I used to find everything from magazines to optics in military bases like the one in Balota, but a few weeks ago it all suddenly dried up. The only place I find anything at all are those big bunkers near the road. Tents have absolutely nothing in them. 11. Is there a way to increase item draw distance? If something is in the back of a hangar, I'd like to see it before I'm only a meter away. 12. Is it true that public servers can't be pass-worded or insta kick? How do you report those servers? 13. Has anyone else ever lagged and clipped out of a highrise or a staircase and fallen to their death? If that happens, how to you heal broken bones, is there a step after morphine? If anyone can help me with this stuff I'd be eternally grateful, it's all starting to bug me alittle.

Oh yeah I know, it's just frustrating when you spend days getting a character up to par, and then it's sudden-death-by-ladder.

Yeah, most wikis are still focused on the mod, even though they say "this information pertains to Day Z Standalone". Makes finding accurate info hard...

Hey all. I've been playing shooters since I was 10, and Dayz for about a year and a half so far. I know most mechanics of the game well by now and am looking for a good group to fall in with. Playing solo isn't that fun or challenging anymore, and none of my RL friends log in often enough to play with. Since Dayz and Arma are military simulators, I'm looking for a military themed group. As far as my play style, I usually don't KOS, but definitely have no qualms about killing bandits or people who appear shady. If anyone's looking for a casual player let me know.

Ahhh, the lovely download speeds of the FOB. Gotta love it :) They still charge $10 an hour over there at the shops for wifi? I was able to find cheaper girls than internet when I was deployed.

Day Zero: Damnit! After several weeks of traveling, trying to make it to the clear zone, my escape ship became infested with the dead! Some bloke on the ship with an undetected bite wound, most likely. Anyways, I jumped ship to save my life once all hell broke loose, with all my gear back in my room. I swam back to the shore and stared at the landscape before me: Chenarus, hell. With nothing more than a flashlight, backpack, and some bandages I set out. Knowing the open terrain to be a deadzone, I quickly headed for the forest, I saw infected everywhere at a distance, but they didn't seem to notice me. Once in the woods I darted from pine tree to pine tree, looking every which way, fully expecting the entire host of the undead to be around every corner I turned. It wasn't long before the sun was low in the sky and my throat began to beg for water, while my stomached ached for food. Which leads me to now. Here I lay, under a thick pine as the sun sets. Tommorow I will need to go into town and scavenge for food. I can hear slow heavy footsteps in the area around me, and know not if I'll survive the night. Okay, so I just played my first game, let me detail what happened: So I start playing and I spawn on a beach... And immediatey zombies are trying to kill me. While running for my life, I discover I have no weapons, ammo, nothing. Not even a map. D: Eventually I loose the people trying to turn me into a human happy meal long enough to look at the controls. I cant see a chat button (I dont have a mic, can I just type text?). Ohshit, more zombies! *Exits out of everything and starts booking it* After a few minutes of huffing and puffing, the screen goes all white and starts to... pulsate... or something... Anyways, I made it a few more minutes hearing the screams of the recently departed fast behind me, and I just died. Like that. Did I run myself to death or something? So, a few questions: 1) If I play for a few hours and log out, is that character saved? Will I log in again and still have all my loot? 2) Are there any "safe" areas? A place where I can go afk, or look up controls, and not have to worry bout the undead? 3) Is there a way to avoid making my character.... Pulsate.... himself to death? Thanks guys.

How do I switch to direct comm? And anyone in 60M will hear me?

So, I found out how to chat finally, not that anyones responded to me in game yet. I assume group chat is what I want, right? Also, took your advice, headed for the woods to adventure while I got the hang of the game there. Another question, does the dayz music only pop up when zack is nearby? Or is it always there to F with you?

Good news! I managed to not pulsate myself to death this time! Based on the info you guys are giving me, I think I was bleeding. Whats wierd was that I must've started that way somehow. This time I immediatly got chased into a lovely hovel that I think I'll call..... Murdertown. Yeah thats a good name. Well, the entire popluation of Murdertown elected me as their newest chewtoy! I declined the office and quickly departed the area, but not alone! No, alot of the population of Murdertown loved me SO much, they decided to chase me halfway across the map! I ran into two other survivors as I ran down the train tracks, they were on the roof of a train station watching me and my fanclub of a dozen or so do our daily marathon. As they solemly watched me, one of them offered these words of encouragement: KEEP RUNNING OR YOU'LL DIE. :D I'm starting to love this game.
