First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)
landfish replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I respect Rocket's decision for keeping 3rd person even though I disagree with it. This is his game after all and it is up to him on who his target audience but nothing can keep me from trying out the Sa. Now, I noticed that Rocket actually stated that 3rd person are more popular and I'm just merely repeating what a lot has said already. If given democracy, people will always choose the easiest path, the one with the least resistance. That's why servers in the mod with absurd numbers of vehicles and starting weapons are always more populated than those without it. It doesn't even matter if those servers are both 1st and 3rd or 1st person only. This is just my opinion but am I the only one bothered when I see that the majority of the playerbase of a survival game choose to play it like a 3rd person shoot em up with zombies? In my opinion, 3rd person needs more drastic changes than what Rocket is currently suggesting. Because right now, the exploits and advantages you gain from using 3rd person far outweighs the "legitimate reasons" of using it. -
First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)
landfish replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Man, I knew from the start that this topic was too big to be abandoned and dslyecxi took the words out of my mouth and explained it better and more civilized than I could. I'm glad that I'm no longer the minority that sees the ugly aspects of 3rd person and choose to speak out against it. Now I don't really care how Rocket tackles this issue but as long there's nobody behind a big ass rock or a window using an invisible periscope to see my all of my movements without exposing himself, I'll be happy. -
Everything I've seen from that video is fuckin A but there was a concern I had, -Animations looks too fast-paced, looks kinda like WarZ animations and that's not a good thing:( I don't know if its only because animations isn't a focus yet but I suggest increasing input-lag so turning will actually take time, couple that with slightly slower and weightier animations and I think it'll look and feel more natural.

Not sure if this has been suggested before, but since side chat and global chat has been removed, why not have an alternative way that you can contact other players from long distances? Maybe everybody should start with a cell phone or they can just find them in various places. This is probably just like global chat but you're phone should ring first before you can talk to the player calling you. You should also be able to send text messages to other people. This is probably pretty easy to be abused by trolls and mic spammers so I suggest to add an option to block them so you can't read the text they are sending you and you're phone won't ring if they called you. Players should be issued random phone numbers that can be found in phone books scattered throughout Chernarus. If you want to call your friend, you better search for a phonebook and search for their names. It would also be cool if not all phone numbers belong to players only, a lot of people probably has cell phones before they turned infected, would be a cool thing to put easter eggs on:-) Risk and limitations: Phones should use batteries to work, so if you're stranded somewhere and your phone is dead, good luck trying to get help. Phone rings should also be fairly easy for other players to hear and if you're stalking someone, better put that shit on silent or just turn it off. Minor addition: Wouldn't it be cool if you can take pictures of places/people ingame with your ingame cell phone? Imagine the possibility of finding a cellphone of a psychopath who left it there for other players to see disturbing photos of things he's been doing. Maybe you could also change your ringtone or whatnot. As a loot: If you killed a player and took his cellphone, you should be able to see conversations he's been having and photos he's been taking. That's all, this is a pretty simple suggestion, just a fancy and more immersive version of side chat and global chat.

Well this is not a rant thread about wanting to remove something because its overpowered(still a rant) but rather a collection of opinion on what features of the mod is killing realism. I'm not talking about extreme mega ultra hardcore realism like perma-death but rather things that are just silly to have and do in a zombie apocalypse or just real life in general. (Note: Some of this are probably gonna be fixed/ removed on the standalone but we are just talking about the mod as it currently is). /Rant/ Here are somethings that really kills it for me: -.50 cals I know this is being fixed but really? Is it really possible for a civilian to use an extremely powerful weapon with extreme efficiency just to hunt unarmed people on the beach?._. -Flyable helicopters Same issues as a 50. cal, is everybody in Chernarus a pilot now? -Unlimited stamina Pretty much speaks for itself, in the mod, we can sprint like Usain Bolt for hours without tiring. -Humanity system Hurr durr, I killed someone, a towel and a baclava will automatically be put over my head so I will be an automatic target for anyone with a brain._. -Blood bags In the mod, I can find un-refrigerated blood bags, use it without facing risks of infections and boom, back to normal, I'm automatically healthy. -Third person Oh someone is shooting at me? Better use my astral projection power shit so I can see behind my physical body and be able to find my hunter easily without risks of being shot._. -Lack of animals I guessed most of them are abducted by aliens since most of them doesn't even leave a corpse behind. -Lack of vehicles(not necessarily working ones) This just means one thing, many people escaped the apocalypse with their vehicles, if that's the case, then why are there so many freaking infected people everywhere? I can imagine, the panic caused by the outbreak would create traffic jams everywhere especially in the cities. -Cities are too safe I know if shit hits the fan, the city will be the number 1 thing/hazard to stay away from, due to you know, its large population which the majority of is most likely infected? But the opposite seems to happen in DayZ. When spawned, most people automatically sprints towards the city to kill each other when in fact, the complete opposite would've happened in real life. -No knock-back effects when shot It doesn't automatically means, you die instantly when shot unless hit on a vital part like the head. But its just annoying to see survivors being shot yet only blood spurts seems to indicate that. Any guns with higher ammunition than a 9mm should be able to make you fall, first shot even if you're in the strongest body armor due to the impact. -Lack of gore Yup blood spurts, come on! real wounds/bulletshot are more brutal than that, especially high caliber guns. Not necessarily GodOfWar level of brutality. Something like VBS2 2.02 would be great(Been suggested on another thread and I'm really fond of it). /Rant over/ I guess this is very demanding for some, but really, unrealistic things just don't fit into a game where you use the stars to navigate and has frequently been regarded as a "Zombie apocalypse simulator" or an anti-game.

Well I think the icing of the cake to make DayZ really brutal is to have natural disasters and other events such as high tides and low tides. First of all, the only thing I can think of to make this really effective is to have a global day/night system for all servers, so the server owners can't just reset the server time or weather if they're base got obliterated by a disaster. Some suggestions I have to make are below: Tornadoes: Tornadoes should appear like 5 times a week in a server and is mostly very common in open fields. Tornadoes should last for like 5 minutes and should move from area to area. As time passes by, the tornado should get smaller and smaller until it finally stops. Tornadoes should also vary in sizes and tornado spawns should be very random in the time of the day and sizes. Small: A small tornado should have lesser duration and is smaller in size, very easy to be avoided. Medium: A medium tornado should be bigger than the small one and be harder to avoid. Large: A large tornado should give even the most experienced player trouble and lasts the longest and is the largest in size between the three sizes. Large tornadoes should be fairly rare. Danger: If you get caught in a tornado, it should throw you into a far distance, resulting in an injury or death depending on your condition or the size of the tornado. Storm: Storms should be the most common of the natural disasters, occurring in cities but is heavier in the woods as it can cause flooding, this should give players who camp in the woods trouble and some would be forced to move to cities or towns, risking their lives and their gear. This should also add some flavor to the survival elements of DayZ as you can no longer camp in the woods forever. Players should also have signs of the storms coming, if the rain is lasting long and there is heavy thunderstorms, then its very likely that there is a storm coming. A normal rainy day and a storm should have a very distinctive effects on the players, for example, storms should make the area darker and cloudier than a normal rain. Flooding: Waterbodies like rivers, lakes and ponds most commonly found in the woods should cause flooding depending on the strength of the rain or storm. Camps/tents caught in the flood would have most of the equipment inside destroyed or damaged. Forest fires: This should be a fairly rare event but a forest fire should occur once every two weeks. However, to prevent forest fires from destroying every forest in Chernarus, it could be intervened by rains or by players. There should be a firehose present in the game so that players can stop forest fires, one player have a very little chance to stop it but working together can be more effective and give greater chance in stopping forest fires. If a forest fire gets too out of hand, then no amount of player efforts should stop it from destroying a large portion of a forest. Forest fires should last for only 5 minutes max. Earthquakes: Most of the disasters above mostly occurs in the woods but nowhere is safe and the biggest fear in living in a city are earthquakes. Earthquakes should be fairly uncommon and varies in magnitudes. Earthquakes should cause players wobbling, shaking or even unconsciousness. Low magnitude: A low magnitude earthquake is nothing more than an annoyance to the very experienced players. A low magnitude earthquake have the ability to crumple tents or cause a small tsunami at most. Medium magnitude: A medium magnitude should be taken more seriously by everyone. It causes greater side effects to the players and their gears and is likely to cause a medium-sized tsunami. High magnitude: The deadliest of all earthquakes, there should be some enter-able buildings designed specifically to be destroyed by high magnitude earthquakes, this earthquake is capable causing a devastating tsunami. This is a really rare but deadly disaster. Tsunamis: Tsunamis are caused by earthquakes and is most devastating to the coast and the coastal towns. If there is an incoming tsunami, new players spawn should be change away from where the tsunami is supposed to hit. The size of the tsunami should depend on the magnitude of the earthquake that caused it. Other natural events: Tides: The coasts tide should be at its highest at night and lowest in the afternoon. New players shouldn't spawn on a coast with a high tide. Meteor strikes: Another rare event could be a meteor strike, mostly occurs at a clear night and makes a loud sound on impact. It should be devastating to the areas it landed on, meteors rarely land on the cities and mostly lands on the woods or other small towns. Meteor strikes should attract zeds on impact. Disasters shouldn't occur too much and become too annoying. At most only 2 natural disasters should happen if they were to occur at the same time. Natural disasters should also be unpredictable and clear days without rain or disasters should still be feasible. What are your thoughts? can natural disasters make DayZ too brutal for comfort or can it enhance the survival elements of DayZ?

1st/3rd Person Perspective, Immersion and Awareness.
landfish replied to rpatto92@hotmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I believe we're all beating a dead horse here. In the end, it all comes down to the same conclusion that almost every other threads about 3rd person end up with. There's always someone out there who gets the most votes when he say that the majority enjoys 3rd person so keep it, but the worst part is, people in this thread are actually whining about keeping the 3rd person in the mod with the SA and that just made me facepalmed myself a hundred times. If you are fine with peeking over walls and having an incredibly easy experience then I don't think DayZ is a game for you. Its all up to Rocket anyways, I'm against keeping 3rd person unchanged in the SA but what the hell, this is just a reply from nobody and I wouldn't waste anymore time discussing about the feature that doesn't really have any good argument for it the be kept in the SA. -
Ask a question to be answered in next blog update.
landfish replied to SmashT's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Right now, the mod is just a huge pvp fest, what do you think can be done to enforce more interactions with other players and limit the "kill-on-sight" mentality that is happening way too much in the mod as it is currently? -
The possibilities are endless, here are some of my suggestions: A football field: http://bayerbecker.com/sites/default/files/projectimages/Thomas%20More%20SideView.jpg Every city need some sort of place for sports. Found in Elektro and great for building bases in due to the large amount of space, with zombie jocks roaming in the open fields. A park: http://trippychippy.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/park-1.jpg A park really adds to the flavor of a city. Instead of just woods after woods which can boring after a while why not add in a park? It could also be the source of zombies roaming the woods. An abandoned zoo: http://0.tqn.com/d/compactiongames/1/0/3/r/1/zoo3.jpg A place once for friends and family is now a place for rotten, dead carcasses of animals. We can take it even further by adding some sort of zombie animals. A small carnival: http://static.flickr.com/51/130200680_02b7e69b4e.jpg Kind of overused in zombie and post-apocalyptic films but carnivals really add to the settings, especially an abandoned one. Another great additions are places like subways, sewers and malls as already suggested by many people. More public facilities will really add the impression that Chernarus was once a place normal people lived in.

True that there isn't really anything that prevents bandits from killing on sight but this gesture would really benefit a lot of people out there, be you a bandit desperate for gear or just a survivor who values his life. I heard that if you shoot a player in the SA, you'll have a chance of damaging their gear also this would come in handy if you want another players gear but he is in the middle of the city and shooting a gun in a city is not a wise choice.
-
I think we should be able to craft home-made explosives in the SA for use against this tank. I bet a couple of grenade or powerful pipe-bombs should be enough to disable this tank, it is after all not that powerful. A couple of perfectly shot bullets to its main gun should be enough to destroy/disable the only weapon it has available. The devs should give this a try, if it's overpowered, then remove it, it's not the end of the world. People should give things a try before judging it.
-
That's actualy pretty cool if you ask me. But it needs some kind of modification to prevent it from causing too much havoc in the coast, I can't really think of anything available to a civilian to stop an armored vehicle.
-
Agreed, I think making DayZ harder is the way to go. A lot of casuals seems to interpret that harder difficulty will mean a more boring and hardcore game but I don't think it does. It feels more rewarding to put myself at risk to get something I want, this is what's truly missing with the DayZ mod. I hope in the SA, I won't be able to sprint to Elektro carelessly, gear myself up and kill some newspawns because zeds are just minor annoyance that can be outran easily. I won't be able to lose zeds by running into bushes or inside buildings. I won't be able to flank a bandit so easily by peaking around corners with 3rd person and not risk anything. I won't be able to find .50 cal anti-material rifles that a civilian would have no chance in hell to use properly. I won't be able to camp in the woods forever because the woods is like a safe-haven right now. I won't be able to use nvg/thermal gadgets that doesn't require batteries. I won't be able to run back to my dead body and get my gears back. I won't be immune to diseases because medications for it are too common. I won't be able to find food and water every 10 seconds. and lastly, I hope I won't be able to just ignore severe weathers and temperatures because there's no/very little consequences for staying in that kind of conditions for too long. I'm able to do almost everything I mentioned above in the mod, and in my opinion, it just waters down the experience because the reward greatly outweighs the risk you have to put yourself into to get what you wanted/needed. The new patch isn't even as hard as some people exaggerates it to be and just look at how many threads are being made complaining about how hard it is. Rocket should not give too much attention to those people because those are probably the same people who want to spawn with an M4,a compass and a vehicle and they also probably complain that 3rd person isn't easy enough for them.

Too much ammo. Just 2 cents from a nobody.
landfish replied to nerd3d's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree completely and it just makes a lot of sense, isn't Chenarus overrun because the infected greatly outnumbers the living? If that's the case then I can see the civilian population and the military losing the battle only because there isn't much resources and weapons left. By the way, I think high caliber rifles don't and will never fit the DayZ theme, I just can't imagine a civilian running around with a 50. cal sniping people XD Common military/police rifles like the AK,MP5 and some sniper rifles like the SVD are fine but having high-tier military weapons which are rarely if not, never even found in countries like Chernarus is way too arcady for me. -
First of all, I'd like to say I'm stoked as hell for the SA and the new screenshots are nothing short of amazing! but I would like to be picky for a while and point out that while the characters have outstanding textures, they look a bit too clean(almost like a GTA character). Imo the thing that made this stand out is the colorful outfits(unless it gets dirty overtime) I know if shit hits the fan, I wouldn't be wearing a colorful shirt especially if I'll probably be outdoors most of the time(wouldn't want anyone or anything paying too much attention on me especially in an apocalypse). I suggest drawing inspirations from movies like book of Eli or the Road. I know there'll be more clothing varieties in the SA but this is just my suggestions. http://collider.com/wp-content/image-base/Movies/B/Book_of_Eli_The/book_of_eli_denzel_washington_movie_image_reaching_into_pocket.jpg http://images.starpulse.com/Photos/Previews/The-Road-movie-05.jpg http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_0pLaYGVQf-c/S-lq1PW4vlI/AAAAAAAABmU/z6yMUYywSQo/s1600/The-Book-of-Eli_CU-Still.jpg http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/SHOWBIZ/Movies/01/14/ew.review.eli/t1larg.eli.courtesy.jpg (Without the overused use of shades/goggles) http://static.stuff.co.nz/1353482516/242/7981242.jpg http://digital-art-gallery.com/oid/86/640x413_15093_The_Last_Hope_Man_3d_post_apocalyptic_character_picture_image_digital_art.jpg (The above picture should be dirtier) Not only do those look badass, but it probably separates survivors living in the apocalypse from people living before the apocalypse.

A message to the people who are mad about the patch
landfish replied to Xianyu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hahaha the new patch is doing a good job smashing them KOS kiddies! I only see only one thread complaining about the patch and this thread probably prevented a lot more from being created XD. I say go on and take DayZ to the survival route and KOS people stop crying, it'll never be the same again, DayZ is changing for the better it was never intended to be a deathmatch game anyway. -
I'd like to know why so many people are so butthurt about 3rd person being removed. Honestly, I don't see any reason for 3rd person at all rather than to exploit it for an easier experience. The only valid reason I ever heard is that you want to see your character. For me, IMO I rather have the minecraft way to see my character. http://www.minecraft...-Inventory1.jpg Anyway, I know lots of you will say to make it server side option. I think that's a pretty shallow way at looking at it, here's why: -Most servers will have it on. -First person only servers will be so low populated I don't think any more than 5 people will be playing at it. -Playing in First Person is like tying your own hands behind your back. Why would I want to play in First Person if almost everybody is using 3rd person to take advantage of me? -Not everybody will get the same experience with DayZ let him be a bambi or an experienced player. Why fixing it probably won't work and is just a waste of time: -Making the camera too close to the player will defeat the purpose of third person. -Nobody will be using it if they can't take advantage of it. -No matter what you do, people who uses 3rd person will always get the advantage(taking cover behind a tree and peeking with the 3rd person camera, less chance of a surprise attack etc etc.) I've seen some arguments in favor of 3rd person and I'd like to adress them right here: Arguement: Running with 1st person is boring. -Running for miles is boring, doesn't matter if its in 3rd person or 1st person. I don't think I enjoy running long distance even with 3rd person. Arguement: 1st person makes me dizzy and motion-sick. -I agree with this in the mod since 1st person is very shaky and limited but I have a question for you: Do you feel dizzy and motion-sick too if you played Battlefield or Cod for hours? I don't, and if you do, you're probably a casual gamer and I don't think DayZ will be catering for you. Everybody should be able to play it no matter if you're a casual gamer but you need to adapt with the mechanics of the game like everybody else. Just because it's hard for you to get used to, doesn't mean we have to put an easy button for you. And finally, a list of why 1st person should be forced and not a server-side option. -Zeds will be a lot more frightening. They will be around every corner and since you can't peak on corners without 3rd person, they will actually surprise you and they will be a lot more difficult to take on alone. -Firefights will last longer. Since it will be harder to see the player who shot you, firefights will be a lot more immersive and challenging just like it is in real life. -The player with the better skill will survive longer. Right now, a bambi behind a cover can kill a really experienced player without much trouble. With 3rd person gone, you need to expose yourself if you are behind cover and wanna see anyone, everybody will have to risk their lives if they want to see other people so it's pretty much survival to the fittest. -Hell a lot more immersive. DayZ is DayZ, not ExploitZ. It's supposed to be a zombie apocalypse simulator not GTA with zombies and 1st person. Its supposed to be an anti-game, not another shooter that caters for the masses. Don't let the players choose the features they should experience so that the game will be easier for them. Make them experience the apocalypse like everybody else, nobody gets to see their backs because that's not possible in real life unless you look at it on the mirror.

@Dallas Still, I feel like giving the option that will affect everybody in the server to the server owners is too much, I think the only thing that server owners should have the power over are graphical components of the game, maps and the administration of his server the rest should be written in the game itself because I think giving the server owner to alter the gameplay experience of everybody in his server is a bit too game-breaking in my opinion and separates people with different preferences. By keeping 3rd person and having filters for severs as many of you suggests, DayZ is pretty much catering for the masses and that's not a good thing, 1st person and 3rd person players should be unified so that DayZ as a standalone would be more refined even if it does mean removing a feature that the majority of players really loved but if DayZ was to stick to its promise of a zombie simulation game, then I don't think 1st person would be removed, ever(meaning 3rd person has to go). I believe that if 3rd person was removed, you and many others would eventually adapt to the hopefully improved 1st person view in the SA. You may not see what 3rd person player can do to affect the game but if you watch videos about DayZ on youtube, almost 90% of the uploaders only use it for one thing, exploits and so do many others and that waters down the experience of those loyal and much more used to 1st person. The poll pretty much speaks for itself when 2 of the choices that would make the game extremely easy if you use 3rd person is pretty much used by the majority(Better view of surroundings and seeing zeds/people while in cover). This community contradicts itself so much I think the developers are better off making decisions themselves and not rely on the community votes too much.
-
@Dallas I don't think that removing 3rd person would be the same as removing zombies. It is named DayZ for a reason. Zombies are part of the game and in my opinion, 3rd person is not. 3rd person is simply a feature. My main point is, by removing 3rd person, 1st person will be more than just a minor feature that players will use because 3rd person indoors is too hard. You go by popularity a lot and as Rista stated multiple times already, if the devs go by popularity, DayZ would be a watered down version of the idea it is originally based on. I don't see how removing 3rd person, would make DayZ a hardcore, colorless and boring zombie simulation game. There is a lot of good examples in the market that showcases fun and immersive gameplay even without the option for 3rd person, the devs should be inspired by these games(S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Metro 2033). Though they differ in terms of modes(Multiplayer and Singleplayer) the core ideas of these games are almost exactly the same which is a post-apocalyptic and barren zombie/mutant survival game. Beside stating that removing 3rd person is a massive decision, what exactly do you think would change if 3rd person is removed? You should give change a try man. Nothing is written in stone, it sounds to me as if you only don't want 3rd person removed because its been part of DayZ for too long already you can't accept its removal, but hey look where the crosshair is going, the only sad part is it is only removed because the masses wants it removed and I don't think that's the case for 3rd person. To come in conclusion, I'm suggesting 1st person should be on all the time like zombies are and no, I don't think removing 3rd person would be the same as removing zombies. Zombies are what shaped the DayZ universe, they are the threat for everyone, they are not features that server owners gets to decide to turn on or off, they are constantly there no matter what server you play on. 3rd person is simply a feature to boost the sales because removing it means a huge loss to the player base of casual gamers who can't and don't want to adapt to the mechanics and gameplay changes of the SA.
-
@Dallas First of all, I would like to say, you brought up a lot of valid points I agreed on. It is up to you, if you can turn a deserted server into a fun party. However, this thread wasn't intended to state weather I like 1st person more than 3rd person. This isn't a personal preference thread, I don't like 3rd person removed just because I can play better without it. You know, not everybody have the attention span to wait for a low population server to fill up, and the problem lies here, people with short attention span greatly outnumbers those patient enough to wait for a low pop server to fill up, hence the lack of 1st person server with more than 5 people. Yes you have to put in effort, but how about we make things less dependent on server owners and more dependent on the game itself? Why should I have to put in so much effort simply to play a great server in 1st person? Why should people who enjoy 3rd person be privileged with great number of servers with high population? Why should you cast out 1st person players who bitch about 3rd person servers when they're the one who see that they need to work harder than everyone else? You say people prefer 3rd person, but how about those who prefer 1st person? Just throw them in the back burner because they are the minority and we don't need to see their complains deeper? The pros of 1st person greatly outweighs those of 3rd person. Say something about 3rd person being better than 1st person, and I guarantee you, it will be countered quickly, and lastly, the game feels really different from one point of view to another, is it really DayZ's goal to separate people with different preferences? Is it not stated that DayZ is supposed to be an anti-game? are the devs supposed to be looking at the level of popularity of servers instead of the underlying issues that 1st person players are talking about? are they supposed to be scared by the majority of people who would go ape-shit if they take out something that the majority so loved? What made DayZ so successful is its open field of decisions you have to make in game but I feel like server side options that affects the gameplay(not graphics) mechanics of an entire server and its players are taking it too far. 3rd person is a broken mechanic weather you see it or not. I'm talking out of experience here when I say that I find it way way way easier to play DayZ with 3rd person and a feature that will make the game easier than if you use another feature(1st person) is quite contradictory and broken in my book. Because DayZ will become its own game very soon, why should it follow ArmA's "gloden rules"? Isn't it allowed for DayZ to break from it previous engine and explore different areas of possibilities? Why should the difficulty depend on the player and not on the game itself? In my opinion, it sounds to me as if you don't want DayZ to have its own rules and its own mechanics. You contradicted yourself a lot in there. Yes you need to put in lots of hours of gametime to progress but if 3rd person is less intense and taxing as you said, what will make players stop from abusing it to progress faster than those who are using 1st person? You also said that radically changing 3rd person is a huge risk, I don't think so, I think keeping the elevation as it is in the mod, giving 3rd person players the edge over 1st person players like in the mod and overall giving the 3rd person view the huge advantage as it did in the mod is a bigger risk than radically changing it.
-
You're half right and half wrong. I understand people using 3rd person in the mod because 1st person there is poorly done. But if 1st person is to be improved in the SA, there is no justification to really use 3rd person rather than to gain an advantage. People like it because it's easier and that's bullshit. DayZ is a brutal game and is no place for people who like using the easy button.
-
Just wtf are you trying to prove? I never suggest for the exact same shit as those photos, I'm just saying the clothings choices for the SA should look something like that, not exactly like that.
-
Dude you should learn how to read, I never ask them to make the same exact replica of those photos._. Nobody owns the right to those kind of outfits

An artist's word on the standalone pics
landfish replied to ponc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
@The Smorski Everything you said is true and I agree. The thing that made the Roads atmosphere so dark is that there are very few trees left in the world to emit oxygen and I don't think trees in DayZ would be that scarce. The truth is, I'm not really a fan of a bright and messy environment, they don't mix together that well imo. -

Would be cool if the atmosphere of the SA is more in tone with the Road and less sunlight and bright skies: http://img.timeinc.n...ndscapes_01.jpg http://www.scifiscoo...the_road_14.jpg http://jasonahurley....adlandscape.png Very brutal, depressing and chilling atmosphere, perfect for DayZ. Namalsk came close to looking like it but it wouldn't hurt to come closer. Rocket did say he is going towards this kind of atmosphere so I'm pretty sure it'll come close to those photos:-) (Right now the SA atmosphere looks kinda generic but I understand this because those are probably still on early stages).
