Its just silly how fast footwear degrades, I've still got shoes from 5 or 6 years ago that are broken in not broken down and I've put plenty of miles on all of them. My work boots are about 10 years old as well and the only thing that's ever broken down on them are the laces so hopefully they find a better footwear designer cause what we have now sucks

I will play a mix of both to start, just like i did in the mod. When i get tired of the shoot everything that moves crowd, I will move into a nice server that has stricter gun laws and when I crave some action, I will leave the hippie commune and so on. I think both hives will have their pros an cons, mainly due to the odd rules in some private servers or the constant need to kill in public hives. It will make some players happy to finally be able to learn the quirks of Dayz and then be able to graduate into the public hives with a bit more of a fighting chance as opposed to how things are now.

Amen to that, I hope choppers are a long way off if they come at all. On the idea of shooting out of a vehicle, I hope we get it some day. Like it was stated earlier due to the current limitation on the engine right now, its not possible. I can't wait for the days of drive shootings and the shenanigans that come with vehicles though

I think there should also be a removal animation for this because if you bury an axe or any weapon into a skull it ain't coming out too easy. Nice animation skills though

Seriously, head over to the west side, look up on any standalone map to find where chopper crashes spawn at. People are looking for them to find m4s, black skull balaclavas, smersh vests and such or are server hopping the office buildings, police stations and military barracks. Before they added the crashes and got them spawning properly, the east side of the map was king for PvP but now people tend to head west. That has been how the game plays out for me anyways

They are probably hunting for chopper crashes, tents, police cars or fapping in the woods because they wish to avoid the type of player interaction you are seeking. Seriously though I find it mind boggling that after traveling all that way you rarely encountered anyone on a high pop server. I always seem to see people in those areas you mentioned. I don't go to Balota very much because I never found much when I went there and I believe they are redesigning the layout of the airstrip. You might want to try Zelengorsk and north to Vybor, Lopatino, Grishino and over to Stary and Novy.

Yes it is overused, people tend to use it even though they have no intention of being friendly. Whenever I hear people shouting it in direct chat I just want to feed them lead. I've been burned too many time to believe you and in my experience, friendly players rarely use that word. Last night on a full UK server everyone was screaming it and then turn around and kill you, then I met a nice fellow who said he was trustworthy, I was a bit sketchy at first but he never took a swing or got too close. I ended up giving him what loot I had because he was a fresh and was having troubles with zeds and players Edit: nice video and have some beans

Hmm I remember the gold revolver and gold AK in the arma II mod and they were quite pimp. Flashy weapons would draw attention to you if you're trying to avoid being spotted but beans for style points

I agree with Rags on gun degradation, however you aren't factoring in the Russian made ak variants. Those things can be buried in a sand hill, dug up 2 years later and still fire and not miss a beat. The idea of meta gaming would be a welcomed addition, taking care of guns and gear but I think it is still a bit early in development to focus on these types of thing

Can't wait to get home and fire up experimental, seems to be that I can get 1 or 2 dayz on those servers and then most go into the constant reboot glitch or just stop working. I do hope they have some sort of nourishment available, the last few iterations of experimental have been devoid of food for the first day or two. Also hope the weather is under control, nothing silly like oh its the middle of December so you're gonna freeze in 10 seconds if you're outside. The rain is kinda depressing too but I can dean with that, just wish the it would settle down for more than 5 minutes

Nice video, beans for helping a freshie get some gear. You've got more faith in people than I do, giving an unknown player a shotgun with ammo made me cringe and I was waiting for him to shoot you in the back but he proved to be trustworthy by the end of the video.

Nice update, still a bit concerned about the weather/elements effects on players and items though. If they do intend to go through with this they need to take into account some guns like the ak variants can be buried in sand for extended periods, dug up and still fire without jams or other malfunctions. Players shouldn't freeze to death after 10 minutes outside or need to be constantly fed when its cold. Those are my only real issues with .50 experimental but the new patch/hotfix yesterday cleared up some of my issues. Is there a way we can tone down the frequency that character status messages appear? My guy seems to bitch a lot about being hungry/thirsty/cold, it pisses me off to no end when I keep getting spammed with I'm cold, I'm hungry, cooling off etc every 3 to 5 seconds grrr

Trust me, I've got bad internet and havent had this happen since the mod but never in standalone.You may want to look into a new modem, it cleared up alot of problems for me. Well my internet still sucks so ive only finished half of my battle.

I would like the option, not really a big concern until later, much much later in development. Its not a big deal for me as a lefty in fact it may throw a monkey wrench into things if I had to account for a left handed character

Happened to me as well the other night. I was catching some fish and gathering water while my friend built a fire and was cooking plus getting warmed up. Server restarts so we wait a few and jump in, my buddy has all his gear I am a fresh spawn in electro. After disconnecting a few times and relogging I lost all my stuff. Not a big deal, gearing up is half the fun in a 3/4 pop server. Took me a few hours to regain all of my lost gear minus the hunting backpack. Not mad or venting, just another few hours of running back and collecting stuff. We did find 2 chopper crashes after we met back up so no biggy, actually ended up with better gear out of the deal

I stopped using my forum name a long time ago due to people actively looking for me due to my pacifist mentally. It got old real fast of being held up, asked if I was Tobias Winfro only to be shot after detainment or fed disinfectant or alcohol tinctures. Some were kind enough to give me a free pass or even asked how to find ashwood trees or certain items I tend to travel with but mainly killed in various ways.

My buddy and I have found a few crashes over the last few days but haven't had any luck with any decent loot. Mainly ammo, a bit of clothing, a few pistols and magazines but no primary weapons. Its a real bummer because my buddy has a real hard on for the M4 and we've looked since .49 came to stable but no luck. Hope we can find something soon, this is taking away from being a trader/walking junk yard :D

This could give the cooking pot another another use on a portable stove or fire. Put your water into the pot and boil then pour back into bottle or canteen

I haven't seen an mp5 since they released it to stable awhile ago, I've found a few 15 round magazines for it but I traded them away for a pristine LRS and a worn protector case. I haven't seen them with buttstocks since they were first introduced to experimental so I assumed they had removed that attachment from the loot table

I dunno, I shot a server hopper on stable last night with a mosin in the chest/torso area and he did not die immediately. I'm wondering if they are tweaking damage for the mosin, however the guy did have vest inside of his vest and it was crazy his much stuff he had. Grenade took care of it though. Quite a shame really, he had some good stuff but I can't feel right about that kind of abuse of the inventory system

Trust me, they take your pants then force you to lie one the ground and they do things with zucchini and extendable batons and such. Some are nice enough to leave you a rag to clean up or an extra 20 in your pocket but it can be dirty business to be captured. It can scar you

Please don't think I was trying to have a go at you, I was only sharing my experience. I tend to find the things I need easily, don't get me wrong though I do have times where its a struggle but if food is scarce I will resort to foraging apples until I find what I need.
