People don't get banned for falling through the floor and trying to respawn. People get banned for cheat engines, altering your pbo, esp hacks, teleporting and other sorts of nonsense that script kiddies use to get any advantage over others. Please try harder, no one is buying the oh my friend fell through the floor and tried to respawn and is now banned. At least get a more convincing story or at least one that is ammusing

Walkie talkies removed in the new patch?
tobias winfro replied to irl-calibre's topic in General Discussion
Found one last night in a grocery store, pristine condition. Never hear a peep out of it. Even on a 40 man server I couldn't get anyone to answer -
PVC pipe + gas+ fire and potato on one end and someone crazy enough to operate it is all you need. I grew up poor and rural, we made our own fun and tater guns were cheap and easy to make. Oh I forgot duct tape, no invention is complete without it. Inaccurate but man it will launch a spud a good ways

Tobias Winfro, been playing Dayz since the mod and playing standalone since day1. I haven't been Tobias in game since the mod, generally friendly unless you piss me off or my clanmates want to do some killing. Been gaming since the 80's, mainly adventure and shooters but I will throw in an RTS when the mood suits me. I tend to smoke way too much of the cheeba when I play so I'm rarely ever serious.

SA is unfinished but can be fun. I say buy it, however just be ready for game breaking bugs, a lot of KOS and missing features. Yes it can be a lot of fun, especially playing with a friend or group. No you dont have to participate in the shootouts in game, go exploring or look for bugs and glitches but if meeting others is your thing or looking for PvP I say go for it. The map has been fleshed out more than in the mod, most buildings are enterable. Have fun if you do buy it, I have had a lot of fun playing even with the issues the game has at this point

My first kill in standalone came about 10 minutes after I logged in the day the game came out. I was looting balota in the dark when 2 knuckleheads came in an threatened to shoot me if I didn't leave. One of the short bus riders neglected to make sure his microphone wasn't broadcasting when I hear him say he was gonna rob this negro in the jail building with no ammo and its gonna be epic cause I'm filming it. I was kind enough to bury my axe in one dudes clown mask and then hacked his buddy about 100 times, ruined all his gear just to prove a point. Point is if you're gonna rob someone, make sure your mic isn't open so the person you are robbing doesn't hear you say you are committing said robbery with no bullets. But coming from the mod my first kill came long ago...

If they put in that kind of maintenance for bikes they could also add in chains, sprockets and WD40(or some other similar lubricant). It would mean you actually have to care for your investment and not just leave it out in the elements and it magically works flawlessly

Shiny happy people would have been a better song selection for this video, clearly the clowns only wanted you to be happy
-
And gearing up only to play tdm in berezino or any place you guys play shoot em up would result in the same outcome. Are you 100% sure you weren't killed the last time you logged out? Yes character resets are on the rise but sometimes zombies like to nomnomnom people or you got shot
-
Are you rolling on stable or experimental? The week before they rolled .45 to stable, I was continually getting reset no matter where I went in experimental. It never bothered me there but if your stable character is getting reset a lot, I would be pissed

Why I kill other players (outsided of defense/necesity):
tobias winfro replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
What about those people who lay in a bush all damn day, not moving and only eating and drinking when necessary, who's sole intention is to snipe or kill others but neglect to loot the bodies because now you have bait for another person to come to? And shooting a defenseless player(I use that term loosely) ), such as one with no gun, is just shitty. Even if they are encroaching upon "your turf" looking for things to get by, why not warn them to swing wide of this area instead of shooting them but I forgot its not your fault they forgot to bring weapons or turned their back on you.I will agree that if someone has a gun they are fair game or they try to attack you with fists, farming hoes or whatnot then blast away. Its this mentality that is turning a lot of players away from Dayz, to some of the other games in the genre. I'm not suggesting we all sing songs and plan fishing trips together but the assholish nature Dayz brings out in people will be the downfall of this game or they give us private hive -

The good book does say "be fruitful and multiply" and I have to agree with grimey rick, being a father is one of the best things I've accomplished not measuring my epeen by how many nubs I've wrecked in a video game -

Hunting other players is fun for about a minute. I usually need a reason to hunt or kill another player, such as he killed me or killed a clan mate. Its by far the most boring part of Dayz, especially with most of the population herpin and derpin all over not paying attention to their surroundings. Good for you, you hunt and kill others. If that's your enjoyment from Dayz, well I'm glad you're getting you're monies worth. There are other things to do in game like exploring or god forbid you look for bugs and glitches. -
Why is it that when someone says "hacker" everyone's jimmies get ruslted? How many threads do we see in a week about, "well I was herpin and derpin on xxx server and the game gave me a ban plz fix now or my little bro logged into my account and now I'm banned"? Please don't use the argument of I've got 5000 hours in Dayz and haven't saw one yet so therefor they don't exist. We've had a few former members of our community receive bans for using scripts like esp, teleportation and unlimited magazines, so yeah there are here in Dayz. Do a quick search on YouTube for Dayz standalone and you will see several videos with links in the description for "hacks" or "scripts" that are undetected by battle eye as of xx/xx/2014. Now I'm not saying what happened to the OP was hacks, just sounds to me like they were feeling safe on a low pop server and forgot one major rule in Dayz, always assume there is another person at the airfields with you. Sticking your head in the sand and ignoring the problem doesn't make it go away nor does it mean that it isn't an issue. Lord knows ive seen enough shady shit in the last few days in game but I'm not calling hacks just yet but there are some odd things happening and not just to one person either

Good to hear, keep up the good work. Its always better to roam the wastelands with a friend or a group. Even if you aren't necessarily trying to help people, the idea can be applied in that manner if someone is willing to try and help. Good luck in your travels
-
Are you kidding? Green mountain is already creepey enough. I rarely go there in standalone, even if its an empty server I still feel like someone or something is watching me. I think adding unique or customs sounds to certain places would up the creepiness factor even more. Good idea though, would be funny to set up an ambush(clown masks and all) in these places just to scare the bejeesus out of peeps

Good idea for people to meet up and play in a group setting. Beans for actually sticking your neck out to try and help other players. My question is do you help people gather basic gear/loot or do you folks roam around the map looking for chopper crashes and other points of interest or are you just giving a bit of assistance to those in need? Keep up the good work, its nice to see folks doing something other than TDM in berezino, NEAF or where ever the kiddies shoot it out these days

It seems m4s still sometimes spawn at Balota
tobias winfro replied to BadAsh (DayZ)'s topic in Gallery
I've found 8 chopper crashes in the last 40 hours of experimental and have found 1 M4, some hand guards, magazines and buttstocks. I won't tell you I've been the first one to find them all but half the ones I've found shortly after restart have had only components, ammo, clothing and a few other miscellaneous items. So yeah I would say chances of finding them is still quite low, unless you server hop looking for crashes -

Had the same thing at the NWAF last night on experimental. My buddy found an m4 a magazine and some ammo. It was sitting right in the middle of the airfield. -
Ingame Integrity Protection for Standalone
tobias winfro replied to nightstalker21's topic in General Discussion
All I was doing was trying to point out that what you did could be considered abuse by some people. The fact that you and your mates were at said high value spot further compounds the issue. I am making no assumptions on your play style or anything like that only that some will view it as a bush league move.As a former server owner I understand it can be frustrating to deal with glitchers and script kiddies. I don't agree with the methods in which you used but I don't pay for your server so I have no say in how you run it. When I read the terms of service, I took it that if you were in violation of any rules 3 times you would be disconnected. My question for you is, was it a full/medium/low population server when you started kicking and did said offender return to your server? If he/she did, did you start the kicking process over again or did you pinpoint who was doing it? The reason I ask is if I had been on your server and had been booted more than once for nothing, I would report you. I realize people think they are doing a good thing, but the rules are clear about kicking and restarting the server. I knew when I rented my server that there was no admin tool nor did I ever have control of my own server. It is sad and unfortunate we are given no tools to deal with scripters and glitch abusers but you should also be able to see the abuse that admin tools give people. Admin tool abusers in the mod are/were no different than the scripters we bitch about now, so for now we must put our faith and trust into Bohemia and BattleEye to do the job -
Ingame Integrity Protection for Standalone
tobias winfro replied to nightstalker21's topic in General Discussion
I was under the impression that you had better have a good reason to kick a player from standalone servers but to kick a whole damn server seems a bit excessive. I know, you were dealing with a hacker/wall glitches but if someone gets butthurt about it and reports you, well there isn't much you can do about it other than lose the server. Also stating you and your clan were looting at the NEAF or any other high value loot spawn might look a bit suspect, especially when you decided to kick everyone. Yes I know glitches are an issue but if you can't pinpoint who it is, people may view that as a bush league move or at the least people will view it as you and your clan are just using the server to get free loot -
No you don't needs gun to deal with zeds or players, you can kill zeds with your fists until you find a crowbar/axe/baseball bat or hell even a screwdriver works. No gun is rare or hard to find atm, you just need to know where to look or you may need to travel in land to find these things. At some point you will need to learn how to survive off the land, hunting and scavaging and such because things like canned food will be reduced in the future(hopefully). Find an ashwood stick add some rope to it and now you have a bow or a fishing pole. This can get you by until you find that illusive gun you need or want so desperately.

AKMs are currently spawning in the places M4s used to, they aren't very rare at at all. Currently the M4 is the only hard to find gun unless you are willing to go chopper crash hunting. Spent most of the afternoon looking for downed choppers yesterday, found a few but most were picked over already. I'm not sure when or if we will get c4 or RPGs but I'm not sure we need them at this point. There are no areas that need to be breached or no choppers flying around to try and shoot so time would be better spent current glitches like falling through buildings. I don't think we need any more "military" weapons, we could use some more civilian arms but no more military grade weapons

Are people still only at NE and Berizino?
tobias winfro replied to ramsfan00's topic in General Discussion
Really? I rarely run into anyone one the west side of the map, I tend to stick to the west side of the map unless I'm in the mood for some shooting. Ran into maybe 5 people between Balota and NWAF in the last 30 hours on high, low and medium pop servers at all times of the day. Maybe I'm just lucky
