    The name of the game..

    As the SA isnt out yet, people will refer to it as the SA and to the mod as DayZ because thats what is playable. Once the SA is released everyone will naturally start naming it 'DayZ' as it will be what every one is playing and if some one still plays the mod they will have to announce that it is the mod due to not wanting confusion.

  6. I think they should scrap any ideas to do with party system, group spawning etc. Its fine how it is now. I think travelling the land without a map using communication and landmarks to find a friend more fun. Adds to the realism aside from just spawning next to a friend. Thing is you all want to be able to spawn with friends, but if it was implemented, one day you would be playing by yourself and you come up across 4 friends all spawning in together and then you would most likely be coming on the forum raging that it is unfair. So no, Leave the spawning etc as it is.
  7. Try downloading and running Malware Bytes, its a good program for finding hard to detect viruses. Could be worth a shot.

    i have not misunderstood at all.. You dont like the servers which give you loot when you spawn.. So why not just drop the loot?

    Sorry but I'm finding this hard to understand; because they spawned you with loot your quitting the server? Why not just find a loot pile and drop all your stuff and start from scratch on the server, instead of complaining about all the servers?

  15. Just watched the latest Dev Blog that rocket posted. /Just wondering Is the HUD used in the video the final design? like the cross air, fonts and the bottom left menu for the gun etc?

  17. Maybe to you its a "waste of time" but to others, maybe they gain more enjoyment from playing PvE? Like other people have said, with how everyone treats dayz as a deathmatch nowadays, maybe its nice to play a server once in a while that actually lets you explore and survive rather then being gunned down by some kid watching the coast with a DMR?

  19. ‘Now this is just an idea, so please comment with constructive criticism and don’t just flame if you do not like the idea...’ So after a recent discussion on the topic of single player story integration in DayZ I have come up with an idea. Okay, so I was thinking about how cool it would be if DayZ had a back story to it but wasn’t an actual hard line story coded into the game. The best example of this would be the story behind CoD Zombies. The story behind all the maps seem to link together and they create a back story which gives a more in-depth feel to the zombies game rather than just a round survival based game. No one knows the ACTUAL story behind the infection and so people use the clues that are hidden in the maps to create their own version of the story. Now i was thinking about how something like this would be great in a game like DayZ! Below I will go into depth of the steps that would go into adding this clue fuelled back story the game. Story So first we would have to establish a rough idea of the back story to work with. This could be anything from Scientists trying to bring people back from the dead in a lab and it going wrong. The infection then got out into the open world of Chenarus. Then there is the possibility of different stories to explain an outbreak of zombies like a meteor crashing and it causing dead bodies to come back to life. There are many possibilities but for this example we are going to with the story of “Scientists trying to bring bodies back to life and it going wrong.” Location So then you need to have locations which will help with the story telling and a place to hold the clues that will fuel this zombie story. This is where it gets interesting. So in different areas of the map, there are all types of possible buildings and bases we could have to hold these story clues. A great start for it would be old run down abandoned labs. These could be integrated into old abandoned military bases which you have to navigate through before finding the labs. These could harbour old notes on whiteboards or old documents which could be picked up and read and can hold information about old test subjects and experiments that went on within the laboratories. Idea for what the labs can look like Types of Clues Okay so we need to look at the types of clues which would tell us the back story. Now these can range from documents to voice tapes, video recordings etc. Ofcourse to implement these you would need to add whole new UI interfaces to the game to give the ability to read documents and listen/watch tapes. It would require work but I think it would really pay off once executed properly. So lets plan this out... You find this old military base which is partly underground, you enter the base and navigate through corridors and rooms and you find an old abandoned laboratory which is all trashed. There is a pile of numerous documents spread around the room, you walk over and pick one up and you read the document. The document tells of how they were using chemicals and experiments to try and bring the deceased back to life. They state about how a few of the test subjects were transferred to another lab/location. Now the hunt is on the get to the other location. You found the other location and let’s say you could find a tape. You can play the tape and it is voice recording where you can hear a panic call that was made when a test subject escaped and started causing havoc. The whole investigating would be like a trail that you follow, uncovering more and more as you go. _________________________________________________________________ Now this would add a whole back story to the infection and add some great Role-Play elements to the PvP/PvE. You can interpret the clues however you wish and build a story yourself to your own requirements and really immerse yourself into the game and go investigate the story of the zombie apocalypse. Of course this would need a lot of work but I think with the right attention and care it could be made into an addition to the game which could really benefit the immersion of the survival.   20. In my eyes, the game is an open world survival game, its not meant to have a point to the game other than to create your own story. I can use minecraft here as an example, although they added the end game credits after defeating the dragon in the end, the game has no real objective other than to survive and make the game your own. I believe dayz having small easter eggs and clues dotted around which reveal a story could be fun because its just something on the side which is optional and it gives an indepth look to the game while free roaming, But having missions and objectives just turns it into a linear single player game like 'Dead Island' and thats not what dayz is supposed to be :)

A possible back story to the game giving information about the infection and possible map locations which have information and hints to the back story like labs etc would be cool, you can go investigating through the land but having a campaign with objectives etc just takes the point of the game out So no.

    Just stick a tent in plain sight, the obvious places are usually the over look places, i heard of a guy keeping a tent on a server for around a month by setting the tent up in the garden of a house in a town out in the open.
  24. Are you being for real right now? How can you think something like that would make this game good? If you wanna make a base and defend it etc go play Garrys Mod. This is a zombie survival sandbox not a dungeon crawler/rts game! Adding areas to clear out and being able to make defending areas underground with electric gates and cameras etc is just stupid. If a zombie apocalypse happened in real life, id love to see you scramble together the parts and power needed to run electric doors and CCTV. Even more so your on a highly vegetated island which a few towns and mostly forest, your not in New York City. A post apocalyptic soviet island wouldn't even have CCTV or electric gates etc in the first place before zombies attacked never mind building them from the ground up with no power etc. Your idea is invalid to the development of the game.
