First off THIS IS NOT MY IDEA! The video this has been transcribed from is here:
In other words a guy named GamersDissent from youtube has made this I just put it to writing and posted it here because he deserves some publicity he is a great commentator GO CHECK OUT HIS CHANNEL! http://www.youtube.com/user/GamersDissent Day Z Chronicles Book I “This is the Chronicle of my first encounter. This is my story. This….is Day Z. ------------------------------------------------------ Chapter I - Careless ------------------------------------------------------ Awake my eyes open to nothing. Darkness surrounds me. I hear water…waves. Wet ground underneath my feet. A beach. Alone? Alone. Clear sky but the stars say nothing to me. Should have payed more attention in school. Something cold in my hands…fingers clinged to it as if by necessity. A gun. Makarov says a voice in my head. But where do I know that from? Carrying something a pack of some kind. It’s heavy. It has tin cans in it. Food cans Perhaps? And a bottle full of what I hope is water. And….Aha light! Or something that should make light anyway. Thumbing through the sticks in my backpack I would be guessing about 10 flares in here. May as well see where I am. Make sure I am alone. How did I even end up here on this beach? And where did these supplies come from? The knot on top of my head speaks volumes. Behind me the sea. Ahead of me the unknown. It would be better to stay put until morning. I had made it this long after all. But I…I can’t stay here. I can’t assume that I’m alone in the world. The flare has given me some limited bearing on where I am but it has also lit me up. Exposed me. For miles the light stretches out for the world to see. Or what is left of it. Another flare…a bread crumb trail so I could remember where I started. They only last a few minutes so probably wasteful but then again you could say the same thing about my life and everyone else’s for that matter. All anyone has amounted to now is a dead man walking. You’re either a zombie or a survivor. But anyway you cut it we’re all dead. We just don’t know it yet. I’m just a moving target. Someone could be watching me right now. Eyeing me through a scope. Preying on me. But there is no time to think about that now. I’ll have to keep moving. Find shelter. Find Railroad tracks? If I follow these I have to end up somewhere. The first sign of the old civilization. Into the dark again. Should have just taken the flare with me but…no turning back now I would just paint a bigger target on myself. Another flare gone. I hear something. Noises in the dark! No just my mind playing tricks on me. Still nothing. Just the endless tracks and the endless night. A shadow moving fast. Darting around me. I can’t see anything. Have to make it to the light! Careless…The gun shots ringing out into the night. A magazine wasted. Finally killing the demon but with too many bullets. Now two magazines gone. I have to clear the area before I bandage myself but there are two more. But one is running away? A human. A survivor. Another zombie behind him but he doesn’t see it…He feels it. More cracks echoing into the distance. More shells needlessly dancing to the ground. Shaking from the adrenaline one more hopping along the ground that we take down together. Together? Is he friendly? Is he like me? Just another survivor? I salute to show my appreciation. Hopeful not to be on the receiving end of his pistol. His gun is at the ready but his pistol finger remains patient. I’m still bleeding. I need to search my pack. Do I have anything? A bandage. I take a knee to treat my wounds. I have one bandage left. One more encounter like this and I’m a goner. Careless…So I’m not alone. That much could go unsaid but I have to say it out loud to fully understand it. “I’m not alone.” There are others like me. I ask him what his name is he doesn’t respond immediately so I ask again. He said it’s better that we don’t know each other. At least not personally that way it isn’t so hard when someone gets…lost. And that’s the hard reality I’m comeing to terms with. Nothing lasts forever. The person I just met is just as likely to try to eat me in a few hours. Berserk…He tells me to call him Berserk. Nicknames…makes it easier. But there is a more pressing matter at hand. Where do we go? Two lost souls in the wilderness with no direction. No purpose. If your Reading this right now. Reading the ramblings of a dead man. Know this…Never do anything without a purpose. There is a house nearby. Someplace be may be able to find some supplies. Hopefully that doesn’t also mean finding others…Zombies…Humans…Others. The next person we meet might not be so compassionate. Around the house is a road. Another runner on the other side of it took off around the side of the house. Careless…Have to get some distance between me and it. Another magazine emptied Into another abomination. Only two magazines left. I have to make them count. How many does Berserk have I wonder? Into the house to scavenge. Is that? Another survivor! He doesn’t move…He doesn’t react…He doesn’t speak…He isn’t real. My hands go right through him. I’m…I’m hallucinating. He isn’t real. Too much tress. I can’t think straight. The flare goes out! Darkness grips us again. I fidget for another flare and light it. It’s funny how important light is. Isn’t it? A double edge sword allows you to see to have comfort in your surroundings. To feel safe. But it can also be the catalyst that brings more undead or worse more humans. It was sinking in further and further. There are other humans out there. Idiots like myself can’t live longer than the true survivalists and people like that don’t make friends quite so easily. There have to be people like that looking for people like me. But for now I’ll focus on gathering. A couple cans of food. Doubling my supply a good find. I doubt my friend was so lucky but that is just how it is. Some people are just luckier than others and I’m not one of the lucky ones. A figure moves outside the window. We attracted some attention but the gun shots will draw more. Focus. I squeeze off one round too many but I’m getting better. There are more filtering in through the doorway like moths to a flame. Berserk isn’t quite so efficient. I’m running low on ammo and he has to be about the same. It is time to go before things get worse. Nowhere is safe. There are more outside. But of course there are more outside! We should have stayed in the house but I can’t get over the rotting corpses right on the other side of the door. I hold off shooting a zombie as it heads for my partner. I don’t want to expend a round unless I have to. My bullets are more valuable than his. But if I don’t shoot he’ll think I’m trying to get him killed. What am I becoming? We move on. A small house with a fence and shed. No runners in the area for now. The shed is open and there are some supplies on the ground. Time to stock up again. Berserk gets there first and picks up some binoculars. I’m left with a steel bolt for a crossbow and some food. I have enough food for now so I take the bolt just in case I find a bow. I need a silent weapon. Berserk drops a watch and a magazine for a Colt 1911. I take them both. Maybe being able to tell time will help me keep my sanity. Maybe it will help me lose it. Following the red glare…Red. The sun. What does it look like? I can’t remember…Red…Blood. Houses all around. A country neighborhood. Maybe one of them has ammo. We dodge to the right to avoid. Contact with a walker. All of the houses seem blocked off. None of the doors are budging. I can’t shake the feeling that we should be heading away from all this. Over the fence and onto the street. Clearing the area making sure it is safe. Whatever safe is now. The safest I have felt since waking up to all of this was lying on my back listening to the waves crash onto the shore behind me. Should have stayed there and slept…Sleep…Getting tired. I don’t have time to be tired. I see a shadow in the field ahead. I turn back wondering in circles. No direction. The world spins before us…Laughing at us. Backwards we go. Another locked house. Another dead end. In more ways than one. Berserk doesn’t see the zombie But if he does he doesn’t care. Stop not worth it. He goes anyway Curiosity peeked. I stay put and watch. Only a few rounds left in this magazine and one partially used mag left after that. Not worth it. So I lay down. The zombie seemed to be aimlessly wondering. They have terrible eyesight but could he see the flare? It moved closer. I can’t shoot it. Won’t shoot it. But what about Berserk? He sees it staring it down…Don’t shoot. Back away. *bang* Careless… I will be posting more of these storys every so often so check back every now and then.
