  1. Ingame name: Whaddapitty location: Germany GUID: eae55198fb4a525dab73f03249116435 I am looking for a server with a big community of regulars to play with without being annoyed by hackers and sciddies all the time

    L85A2 RIS Holo

...is, as most of you already know, coming in the next patch. I just checked the dayz wiki weapons list to confirm something when I read that it's going to do 8000 blood damage. Is that a typo of some kind or is this information true? €dit. http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/L85A2_RIS_Holo

    Bandit Skin

The old bandit skin should be camo clothing for bandits.

    Standalone Poll: First Person Only?

is exactly what I am looking for. Also realism. But having to look around a wall to see what is behind it doesn't seem to be very realistic. I am thinking of the actual ingame walls, which I estimate to be around 2 meters high (~6.5ft.), so "in reallity" I could easily spot whats behind it by simply standing on my toes, my backpack or a dead zed or even chin the wall to take a brief look, all of which with less exposure than looking around the corner. So please, I am serious, explain why having to show my face and gun to see behind an obstacle is considered realistic? This is a game after all, and since the engine does not support any of the methods I mentioned, enforcing first person for the sake of realism....well....seems wrong...

    Standalone Poll: First Person Only?

So....the game that allows third person by default and is played that way by a significant part of the community is considered a FPS game now?

    Standalone Poll: First Person Only?

My decision to play this mod was based on some let's play videos of it I saw on Youtube. One of my first reactions to what i saw was something among the lines "wow, finally a cool third person shooter for online play", so yeah, if the third person view goes, so do I (and frankly, I don't think I am the only one). I understand that most of you come from the shooter crowd, and I myself enjoy those games once in a while, be it to blow off some steam or just for the sake of mindless slaughter. But I grew up with games like Time Commando, Tomb Raider, Max Payne, Alone in the Dark, Resident Evil and Hitman or the one Kane & Lynch game that doesn't suck donkey dick in hell and therefore consider myself a third person player. I love this point of view because of it's cinematic atmosphere, my "immersion" is thinking that I am the director, screenplay writer and star actor of my own season of The Walking Dead while still being a poor bastard that just couldn't die with the rest when mans time was due. I hope you can wrap your heads around that since I don't find it easy to put it in (not native) words ;) This just wouldn't work for me in first person. Unfortunately there aren't many third person games released at all and the ones that are good for competitetive online play are countable with one hand, with two fingers....by a blind person So please don't take that away from me, don't force first person in the SA, let server hosts be the one to decide how the game is played in their dominion. Another thing. One of the more common arguments against the third person perspective seems to be realism. If I where to stand in front of a wall too high for me to look over, I would find many ways to see whats behind, other than looking/leaning around the corner. I could for starters, stand on my toetips, my backpack, a dead zed, a spare wheel I happened to carry or just do a pull up high enough to get my nose above. So, in reality, i could see over a wall as high as the ones ingame easily in seconds with being nowhere as exposed as I am now with leaning/looking. Since the game does not give me that option, your argument for the sake of realism is not that valid.

    Surround Sound

I do. And I got it working finally, my soundcard, not the latest model ;) , had some trouble with the headphones being an USB device and not "klinke" (pin?). Still was expecting more though...but i think thats really an Arma2 issue (a game where hearing from which general direction a TANK is coming was probably considered sufficient).

    Surround Sound

I paid about 150€ for it (~122 pound st.) and I am very statisfied with the device, it works the way it is meant to in other (faster) games, so the delay of the wireless transmission seems to negligible. (It is true what you said about the change in Logi merchandise though, but i I still think they are worth the money. They are among the cheapest in Germany but still offer an acceptable quality basically) Ok, so I guess I'll be going through some hardware/Arma2/DayZ boards and see if somebody made it work already, thanks for the input.

    Surround Sound

So, I am under the impression that 7:1 Surround doesn't seem to work very well in ARMA2/DayZ, I have purchased an according headset just recently and there doesn't seem to be a big difference to the stereo headset I was using before. I can tell whether the shots are coming from my left or right and from how far, but not really "better" that before...I tested it with (please don't stone me) Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim, where it worked really well, I could easily tell from where shots/steps/mudcraps where coming from to just turn around an attack them spot on. I am using a Logitech G930 now. What are your experiences with surround sound in DayZ? Does it actually work for you? Do you think it should be implemented in a better way(especially since there seem to be so many people who are so enthusiastic about forcing their "first-person-only" playstyle upon others...)? Edit. Typos, a missing word.

    Dayz Namalsk Bloodsuckers fix.

Not invisible really, they just can't reach you and lose interest at some point. They then walk away slowly.

    Handcuffs

I like the idea very much, also include dog leashes (since dogs are gonna be included at some point anyway), so I can handcuff a zed, put the leash on his neck and an ALICE pack on his back, you probably see where I am going with this....20 slot zombie mule (and yes, I tatally stole that idea from the walking dead)

    Wing Suits in DayZ?

A definite no to wingsuits from me, but I am open to some kind of ultralight aviation, something like this I do know for a fact that an airplane like this is already in the files, you can even find it on some Rmod servers, so how about that?
