i gotta admit rocket should be a little more clear about when the standalone is released as ALL official projects must have a deadline. it is like a contract that you have to finish sooner or later, but it is set for a precise time period. nonetheless, let them work, we have to wait and deal with their attitude. then again, maybe they are truthful about not knowing when exactly dayz standalone will be able to go live...

the psu is mounted not on your motherboard, but the computer case itdself, so buying a new psu will not depend on what mobo u have. a new gpu however will require that ur motherboard has a PCI-E 16x 2.0 or 3.0 port (google for pictures) - i used to run an old radeon with 450W requirements on a cheap 300W psu and it was all fine for almost 2-3 years - not that i m suggesting u do the same, but u can act at ur own risk. -sir mzly says that ur psu may "blow up", but thats not really what will happen. ur pc will just sart working poorly, and then after a while itll just stop complitely all of a sudden with the chance that some of ur hardware gets fucked over in the process.

use dayz commander dayzcommander.com (make sure to find the "right" download button there, there are a few annoying ads with download links to other random stuff) good luck -
try updating bios, amd cpus can really lag the shit out of ur pc when u have old bios version -make sure to put video memory settings to default (uses ur full vram, while very high = 512 mb..)

its impossible for dayz engine to mimic most of the freedom of movement in last of us. it is just not designed for that kind of smoothness and fluidity. the last of us is like a movie in which u play as a character, while dayz is like a book in which u let ur imagination make up for anything lacking quality (lolo what an amazing comparison, i am on fire today)

will run with about 15-20fps in cities, and up to 30-40fps in plains (thats decent for arma)

We all run this game on low to medium settings, even those of us with powerful pc's (unless ure not smart enough :P) so no worries

are u using dayz commander to launch the game? if not, here is the link dayzcommander.com dayz commander is the most convenient way to play this game, install the newest patches, updates, mods etc. it is official and not some hacked crap ur problem may be that ur not launching ur game with proper launch parameters that are individual for each dayz mod variation (i.e. one for dayz, another for dayz breaking point and so on) -
ull never get the most out of arma/dayz if u play with a controller. there is just too many things u can do in this game. and no, i doubt pc will ever be merged with console player pool for dayz

dont think mods will keep this on for long and yes of course there is 3rd p in the standalone edit: dont look for functionality in this video, look only at art work and graphic design.

I dont think the font is as bad as u all seem to believe it to be. it may not be the prettiest thing ull see in a day but, please, the game itself will make up for any such small visual discomfort.

u sure its not just server side lag? play on many different servers, to test performance, go to empty ones
