You would be surprised what lengths people go to get that sniper :D
-
I believe this happens with certain Arma missions already (different weather), one client would have rain and the other would not but if I understood GessFaust correctly, he meant that the server location would dictate the weather so if you and your friend would log on to the same server, you would have the same weather.

I'm all for weather variety but no need to tie it to real-life locations. I'd feel sorry for those connecting to a server located in Tornado Alley during hurricane season or locations where the weather's basically the same all year round. What I would like to see is dynamic weather affecting the environment. Lightning striking trees or houses, setting them on fire or strong gusts blowing down a dead tree that might take other trees with it. It should happen rarely so that it catches you off-guard when it occurs. Also, there is one hell of a lightning deflector in Chernarus and that's the radio tower at Green Mountain so maybe it should only happen outside a certain radius around that area.

Wrong Version error need help asap!

Or get Dayz Commander and let it do the work for you -
What are your specs exactly? Higher than recommended isn't really saying anything :) That's normal. You want your ping to be low but FPS to be high :D Ping is the amount of milliseconds it takes for information to get sent to and from the server so when it gets really high, your computer has to wait before it can draw the next frame, that is why your framerate drops. I experienced the same thing just a few days ago.

Two DayZ installations on one PC

Check this out: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2725008 The last post in there: -
You got balls, I'll give you that. Ken, I think you're on the right track there. If you're using the default FW and it's got everything blocked by default you have to add an Alllow-rule for the Arma2OA.exe. If you're not behind a router, that should be it.
-
What firewall software do you use? Most firewalls will ask you wether you want to allow / accept outgoing and incoming connections, it does depend on your settings though. And another question, any chance you are behind a router? In that case you might have to set some port-forwarding rules in the router's config.

When I was a kid, I used to move the mouse left of my keyboard to play point and click adventures. Most first-person shooters didn't have freelook back then or you controlled it with the keyboard. Then came WASD and I cursed the hell out of it at first, having to move my mouse to the right. Now I'm so used to right-hand mousing that it's no different from using my left hand.

DayZ Developer Blog 15th April Highest one ever

Thank you. I'm not in any way looking for a pissing contest and I'm sorry if you got that impression. I left my original post there so people could put my feeling like an *ss-comment in proper context. In all fairness, I think BIS had other things to worry about when Ivan and Martin were detained and if they were in a rush to release the SA, we would have had it by now with the exact same problems as the mod. This is not an excuse but it is one of the reasons if you ask me. Also, I think the work they're doing is necessary, not groundbreaking. In my opinion, it's just too soon to discuss the cutting of features and the development time without having experienced the changes first-hand. I would be interested in hearing your opinion once you've actually played it so until that time comes, I probably won't bother you anymore. -

-edit Yay, I feel like an *ss now, I just read more of your thread on memory hacking and saw you state you are a programmer so that answers that question of mine. I do still wonder why you assume that it's easy to add server/client-communication to an engine that previously had an entirely different system which was ripped out. They're basically starting from the ground-up so it's going to take some time. Below is my original post - I shouldn't have been so lazy and read his whole thread before asking. He doesn't. You just missed the point of his analogy but that doesn't surprise me really. Can I ask what your experience in programming is and how much you actually know about BIS' engine? I noticed in a thread you made about memory hacks that you don't know who Dwarden is and you even stated hoping he's not employed after he got in a bit of a discussion with you. Here's a hint, visit the BIS official forums.... -
What songs YOU think suit DayZ?
badluckburt replied to Cap'n (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I still plan on running around Cherno with hatchet one day singing over direct chat. And I don't listen to music in-game, makes it too hard to hear other things going on. -
They read things the way they want to read it and then whine when they don't get their insta-grat on.

I hope the clothes you get will be picked random or that you can choose your own outfit from a default selection. I don't think everyone should start with the same clothes. -

Nice way to kick off the week. There's only two things to say to this: HELL YEAH! and Good luck Rocket, I hope everything goes well up there! I'm sorry for shouting but it's either that or jizzing my pants. -
You're right, I hadn't considered it but one look at the Ban-forum shows that. I wish some admins would be more mature and remain impartial even when it concerns themselves but sadly that's not the case :(

Restarting the server would reset it for every player but those that didn't die would still have their gear so I don't see a problem with that. I do see your point in players taking more risks when they know a server restart is coming. I wonder how that could be countered.
-
Interesting, I like the idea. It would fix the 'loot your body'-thing that a lot of people do. Do you think it should be implemented on all servers? It might pose a problem for those people with a high ping to most servers, if they die too often they might run out of servers to play on.

Thanks, I'm aware that there are mods. I probably misunderstood camycamera, I thought he meant the vanilla game.

Does Fallout 3 has zombies in it? I hope you don't mean Ghouls smoothskin :D My question is serious though, I played FO3 but I don't remember any zombies?

What settings do you play on?
badluckburt replied to Cap'n (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I play with these: CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7600 (3.06 Ghz) OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Ram: 4 gigabyte Video: AMD Radeon 6570 2GB Resolution: 1280x720 Video memory: Very high (actually gives a higher framerate than Default on my system) Texture detail: Normal AF: Normal AA: Low Object detail: Normal Terrain detail: Low HDR: High Shadows: High No post-process No PPAA I've tried a ton of settings but I've settled on these because they give me virtually no slow-downs when I'm running around using freelook and zoom. Even those orange trees ain't got shit on me :P I'm saving up to buy a new MB and a quad-core CPU to run some other games a bit better. -
Remove Starter Flashlight; Bring Back Flares
badluckburt replied to Powell (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I would like to see all starter gear removed, not just the flashlight. Maybe even start without a backpack, I tend to dump it on the coast anyway when I spawn in and search for a bigger one. The nights in DayZ also don't really bother me. The full moon ones are bright enough for my taste and the ones without a moon are pure horror. One of my best experiences was crawling through a field with zeds after looting a town, going on sound to determine where they were headed.
