Removing chat function sucks for deaff players
badluckburt replied to redfirm's topic in General Discussion
The reason you're not seeing direct chat is probably because there's no Default mic set in your windows mixer options. Look in the Temporary troubleshooting-thread on page 7 or 8, I explained what to do there. It's a bug that's in Arma2 as well but it would be nice if they fixed it or at least gave people a hint as to what's causing it. -

I don't have DaRT anymore so I can't check but do you know the extension / format of the database file? -
Suddenly I'm in the mood for ZZ Top B), thanks guys!

DaRT - A Lightweight DayZ (and ArmA) RCon Tool (v2.1 | 11/10/2015)
badluckburt replied to domistyle's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Nice tool. Shame I don't need an RCon solution at the moment or I would've given it a go. I've not had any trouble banning users with DaRT when I used it but I probably got lucky. I did have some funky connection problems from time to time that had me restart my PC. As far as your goals go, I'm pretty sure DomiStyle had the same vision but sometimes there's only so much time to do things. I'm not impressed by the fact a community manager of BI uses your RCon which you say allows you to get feedback. The 8.1K downloads you mention seem more likely to generate the actual feedback for you. If you're interested in helping out, dive into the source when it's released and tell DomiStyle where you think he went wrong. -

If you have so much knowledge about his poor coding, why don't you code up a new solution yourself? -
Hi there, check out the instructions I gave in this thread: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154104-temporary-troubleshooting-topic/?p=1552968 as they might just fix your problem. -edit hopefully before you read this. On the next page in that thread is the real response you need, the link just take you to where I started the convo with the other member. Good luck!

The things people worry about in the SA. Some hair variations would be nice, I won't argue with that but I think it'll be a long time before we see them :) -
Problems with visibility of the Options... please Help
badluckburt replied to nkl's topic in New Player Discussion
Could be that the localized german text for those options isn't in yet and that you're seeing the empty placeholders. -

Mic settings (2 mic inputs)... help?
badluckburt replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
Go into your Windows sound settings to the Recording devices. There, check if the mic you want to use is set as default. If it already is set to that, I'm afraid I can't help but if it isn't, set it to default.- 1 reply

IDEA: Post traumatic stress disorder
badluckburt replied to Grabarz (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I never said it was a complex, those are your own words. Fun fact for you btw, programming is my day job so I at least have a clue of what I'm talking about here. You would need an awesome amount of processor power (think quantum) to run it but it's NOT as impossible as you put it. I know it will never be implemented in SA, I just don't like it when people start yelling impossibru when it isn't. -
IDEA: Post traumatic stress disorder
badluckburt replied to Grabarz (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
It's not impossible, it just takes forever but there's no reason get on the OP's case about that. You really feel superior to some of the others here by the looks of it, keep it up. -

Congratulations. You just made my ignorelist. Are you sure you're posting in the right thread by the way?

I'm wondering with you. The only examples of visible occlusion culling I've seen are tech-demos where they render one frame while culling it from a certain perspective constantly and fly around it somehow. I do know Rocket has mentioned the problem before, the slow-downs in cities that is and I believe he said they are working on a fix so my guess is they're either updating the existing one or implementing a new algorithm to deal with the culling. -edit Clarified what Rocket mentioned and fixed a damn typo.
-
Tech time :D How much geometry is being culled and how good is the occlusion culling in the engine? Apart from the sun, I don't think any changes were made to the rendering aspect of the engine (if I'm wrong, please enlighten me :D) so you can expect the same kind of slow-downs as in Arma 2 I think, maybe even a bit more since most models have been enhanced to be enterable. If someone could shed some more light on this, I'd appreciate it.

I think your brain needs an update if it's that hard for you to read someone's post, oh wait, it's probably alpha :O
-
That should work yes.
-
What soundcard are you using? And are you sure they're in the right jack? - edit I'm heading home right now so it might be a while before I reply - another thing you might want to check are the Disabled devices. When you right-click on the list with mics you should get an option to also show Disabled and Disconnected devices, it could be the mic you connected is either of those.
-
Alright, select one of those devices and click on the Set as Default button. At the moment you have no microphone selected so Arma thinks your system doesn't have any. -edit There might be a chance you can't select any of them as no mic seems to be connected (Not plugged in). If you have a spare set of ear plugs or something like that, just plug those into the mic jack, that should make them selectable.
-
No problem. You shouldn't disable it, the problem for me back then was that I had no mic on the soundcard I was using which broke direct chat in the way you described. I could see what I typed without problems but could never see what others typed. I fixed it by installing Virtual Audio Cable and using the Line-in from that as a pseudo-mic. When you go to the Recording tab of the Volume Mixer, which device is selected as the recording device?
-
If you can't see what's wrong with that statement I fear for your sanity.
-
This happened to me once, I'll never forget the solution AmberHelios gave me, biggest WTF moment in Arma ever. One question, do you have a microphone available in the Windows volume options?
