In-Game activities, adding immersion.
badluckburt replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
how old are you then ;) it's not polite to ask people for their age, especially when they're old :P -
There was, in this thread by King Tubbs: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/129867-payed-dlc-format/ Unless you meant by the devs themselves because I don't know anything about that.
-
I'd say remove it but I'm someone who turns them off in every game that lets me or if possible hacks in a transparent one.
-
That was my line! :D

The implementation would take quite some time I think but if done right, it's also a good addition. Bullets and zeds could tear into your clothes as they attack you which would speed up the process of having to repair them a bit because normal wear and tear takes days. Maybe it could also take into account wether you go prone alot and on what surfaces. I'm not much for shaving my beard, I'd feel naked without it :D -edit http://th09.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/f/2012/197/1/a/dayz_survivor_veterancy_by_hazzard65-d57hs01.jpg

I try to get a hatchet, a water bottle, hunting knife and matches then I'm off into the woods. I used to grab guns in the beginning but I don't anymore, I still suck at shooting so I figured what's the use except looking more threatening to other players. I don't seem to find a lot of bikes, only found two during my adventures but that's the only vehicle I want / need. I would fly helicopters but I always get killed before I can repair them. If only I didn't suck as much as I do, does keep it fun though.

can you Favourite servers on play with 6
badluckburt replied to meat pie's topic in New Player Discussion
-edit: I couldn't resist so I fired up Play with 6 and you can Favorite servers. When you have the server list on your screen, and you look left of the server-name, there's a star silhouette there. Click it and it's a favourite :D Try asking here: http://dayzmod.com/f...bution-channel/ I agree with Diddums though, Play with 6 confuses the hell out of me everytime I start it. The previous version was a lot easier to use, now I only use it to download and update mods and handle the activation manually. I just wish Arma wouldn't keep jumping up and down when you select / deselect a mod in the list. -
3rd Party Interaction, and why it ruins the game
badluckburt replied to applejaxc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So what's it like living with the attention span half the lifetime of a Higgs boson? OT: If the SA comes out and it has radios, cellphones or even two tin cans with a wire between them and people continue using Teamspeak to communicate about stuff happening in DayZ, they will be the Lance Armstrongs of Dayz. Sure you'll win but it's not something to be proud of. -
I say yes. Should this play when you open it maybe? jk

I believe something like this would be in the standalone so they probably got you on this one

3rd Party Interaction, and why it ruins the game
badluckburt replied to applejaxc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Applejaxc, It sounds like you would've loved the DOS-days when you could only run one program at the time :) The only way to get the kind of gameplay you want is to go Big Brother on every player on the server you're on and monitor all their computer's activity. I understand your frustration but there's nothing that can be done about it. The only solution I can think of is direct chat being always on in DayZ so any mic-input is automatically transmitted in-game which introduces a whole new set of problems. -
Like the title says. Timboski suggested a PvE-mode for the standalone where you can't hurt each other (which I'm not for) so new people could familiarise themselves with the game. Anyway, I was thinking something different. Most of us know the Armory that's in Arma without which we'd never have been able to fly those helis, at least not without dying as much. I hope there's at least some sort of sandbox for helicopters. I think it was mentioned somewhere along the line that the helicopter controls might end up more like TOH which makes it alot harder to fly on Expert and above, I'm learning right now so I'll be ok if that's the case but I'm thinking of those that don't. If they also add the start-up procedure, most people will not take off but ruin their helis unless they look up what to do. There should be no zeds in the Armory mode, just the terrain and the stuff you want to practice with.

Hmm, the only other thing I can think of at the moment without a screenshot is overscan / underscan which is usually fixed by auto adjusting. What kind of monitor do you use? I have an Asus TV-monitor myself and it has some weird settings like panorama and zoom so if yours has that kind of capability you could check that out. When you run plain Arma, do you have the same problem? Also, check to see if you can see the entire UI on screen in Arma because it might be that it's off-centre somehow. I don't know what would cause that though. -edit I did some googling, could you check that both your Interface and Render resolution are set to 1440x900? You could also try searching or asking on the BIS forums if we don't get it sorted out.
-
Could you maybe take a screenshot? That might help figuring out what's going on. 2 inches is pretty big. Also, did you select the correct aspect ratio in Arma settings? Should be 16:10, you probably know that but thought I'd state it anyway.

He did one for Bavaria but it's probably only been broadcasted in the Netherlands, Hugh Heffner also did one.
-
Very Ape and R9Rsc68avHbs, you guys do have a point. I just thought I'd put this out there to see what the sentiment was, I'm getting my Take On anyway so I'll be piloting my way through Chernarus np. I guess we'll see what happens when the SA comes around. When it turns out it's too difficult in-game they could always add something but I don't wanna hear anybody whining it's too hard! jk
-
He looks like that spinning figure that goes one way or the other depending on which side of your brain you use :D
-
When you go into the Arma editor, place yourself or an object somewhere and then preview, I think the game runs a check to see if there's enough space. The check's a bit off sometimes, especially when there's alot of trees or other stuff around. And sometimes, vehicles don't stay still, the other day I rammed a car into a house and it kept making those collision noises which is a sign it's still moving so I got the hell out of there, sure it was gonna blow.

Which server runs the oldest dayz version
badluckburt replied to richjones19772000's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I wouldn't know but one way to find out is start with the oldest version in DayZ Commander and filter the wrong DayZ versions. Just keep moving up until you find one - starting halfway and moving your way down might be faster though. Whatever floats your boat :) May I ask why you want to know this? -
He's doing that as we speak. I PM-ed him to ask about that :)
-
You keep acting like the majority will not buy the SA even though it offers an entirely different set of features from the mod wether it gets ported to Arma 3 or not, I don't get that. Arma 3 still has the old server structure so hacking will be easy. Targeting the standalone is going to be much harder for hackers, not that they won't take up that challenge, they like it. Multiple options might also mean people get each in their own time which would mean less money lost than you predict.
-
I'm ashamed to say it myself but the Burt ain't got nothing on Chuck :( -edit: feels weird to say it but I quoted God?

Depending on how things play out, you might end up taking a lot of time to repair a heli and then crashing it everytime you have lift-off if you're not good. Without any means to practice, that's bound to lead to frustration if it takes too long. I do agree with you saying that the helicopters will be the only thing really necessary but people who suck at shooting might appreciate the opportunity for practice. I understand that is fun for some but for others it's not, the TOH flight model is different from Arma's and if you don't know what you're doing without the simulation helpers, things are gonna go awry. It's not like you'll be forced to learn in the Armory, it's just there if you want it. -edit: made a typo, the horror
-
I would recommend you download DayZ Commander and let it do the work for you. That's what I did after the torrent I downloaded didn't work immediately because I wanted to get my DayZ on!

Either that or he was in Norris-mode
