Ah crap, the day I decide to not do my uni assignment and play some DayZ instead and the servers are down lol. Thanks for the update mate
-
I'm getting the same problem, haven't played it in a couple of months so I'm not really clued up to what is going on dev build and patch wise, but I am only seeing exp servers. Although, Steam just updated DayZ and the version says 0.43.116251 - I don't know if that's changed from earlier when I tried

Any piece of clothing you associate with bandits?
nickholder85@gmail.com replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I am very wary of people with payday masks, although I did meet a really friendly person who had one and spotted me at the airfield lol This is what is great about this game, the players create the in-game 'rules' of what apparel is 'bandit clothing', nothing is dictated by the devs or 'rules' handed out. The community creates its own mini pseudo fashion which determine who players are and this spreads through the community. I did/do like the idea of attaining something if you help people or rob people x number of times, but I think in terms of cosmetics, the community decides that themselves which is cool. -
DayZ Sound Design Test - Part 3 Final Added
nickholder85@gmail.com replied to fortran's topic in General Discussion
Saw these a week or so ago on Reddit and was really impressed, audio sounds are so much better and adds much more depth to the game (like collision noises etc..). Really good work mate :) -
Alpha... Still,This is ridicilous
nickholder85@gmail.com replied to Jozinh0's topic in General Discussion
Alpha's go on for quite some time, normally developers only have it available to internal testers and we only get small pieces of information through blogs and videos. Just because we have been playing the alpha for a few weeks doesn't mean the problems should of been fixed by now. It's an on going process. A long on going process, it's just that they have opened the door to the consumers to play it while they are still making it. All the problems you are facing usually face the internal testers and developers, but we usually never see that side of things. From a development point of view, I think it's actually pretty cool to be allowed to play and see the development of a game. They have been more than honest about the alpha with all the disclaimers. -
Same here mate, tried multiple servers and I can't get on at all. If I do get on once it rubber bands me back and all the players show zero ping. Can't use inventory etc... Must be a problem with the servers

Animals already in DayZ SA?
nickholder85@gmail.com replied to wpaschukat's topic in New Player Discussion
I tried to shoot this poor bunny wabbit, just couldn't though. Look at his little face! He was somebody's pet, or he is the owner of the house  http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=212334082 -
What, exactly, is the point of this game?
nickholder85@gmail.com replied to Zascha-Geriko's topic in General Discussion
It's up to you how you play it, no quests or anything, you make up your own narrative and play how you like. At the moment my 'quest' is visiting all the towns to find out what loot is about, how to get to places and learning the map. I like meeting up with strangers and encounters with bandits. A huge amount of features aren't even implemented yet such as vehicles, hunting etc so it will only get deeper the further into development it goes. Just...use your imagination.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTn7xtVsE6U -
Generally how many FPS are you guys getting?
nickholder85@gmail.com replied to Jayissuperman's topic in General Discussion
i5 3570K 8GB RAM HD7850 OC Edition 1080p everything very low apart from textures and filtering to very high 50 - 60+ out in the open (v-sync on) 30+ in small town and rural spots 25-30 in large cities 20 - 25 around those tower blocks (god they cripple my fps lol) -
What stops you from logging out if you are being robbed?
nickholder85@gmail.com replied to acekaze's topic in New Player Discussion
Yep, I agree. If a player outwits me and holds me up and robs me then fair play to them, they got the drop on me and I deserved to be robbed. I won't log out, that's just un-sportsman like. -
How will flying work? Simulator or Arcade?
nickholder85@gmail.com replied to DayzForumer's topic in General Discussion
I would like to see one or two choppers (maybe one military and one civilian or news chopper) but I think they should be very rare to 1). find the parts or fuel and 2). to actually have a chopper in game. Or randomized across the map so it's not a race to the chopper spawn. If they do go down the route of stats development, maybe a stat required to operate a chopper as well. Yep! -
I currently have 4 tin openers in my backpack with my current character. I literally can't stop finding them! A week ago I was smashing tins open with an axe in desperation lol!

Hello! There really isn't anything quite like this game. I didn't really play the mod that much as when I did the SA was already announced so I focused on other games. I think it's the brutality which appeals to people such as perma death and eating/drinking and survival aspects. There really aren't that many games which are unforgiving as DayZ but so rewarding at the same time.

I agree, but I also think there is definitely room for improvement. For instance when in first person and crouched, the head bobs up when you tap the W key and feel somewhat unresponsive (too me at least). I think some transitional animation could be more fluid such as climbing ladders, stairs and navigating through tight corridors. I like the slightly clunky movement of the game itself, I just think things could be tightened up a bit (which no doubt will further down the line). Everyone has these controls, so it's by no means a disadvantage to one over another, I just feel it needs to be a bit more 'snappy' such as removing/holstering weapons when on the move etc...

Possible Hunger/Thirst Improvement.
nickholder85@gmail.com replied to exomonkeyman's topic in General Discussion
Nice, I like the colour coded transition messages, it's nice and intuitive and the traffic light colour scheme works really well across all games. I agree with creature though, I personally would leave out the percentages on food etc on screen notifications, however they could be useful in the character UI screen. I think the less amount of text and stuff on screen while playing the better.
