  1. Thanks bud, I hope the mod continues to grow and develop past the standalone release. There is no reason why it shouldn't. The first thing I wanted to do with SA (after playing it!) was mod it to my liking as with DayZ as it is now. Alas, this will not be possible. But still, we have only scratched the surface of what Arma is capable of in my opinion. It is capable of really great things, if people can just see past the odd bug or issue :) I'm looking forward to SA just as much as the next dayz fan, but I hope the heart of the community still helps the mod develop. I promise it will be worth it if people hang in there!
  2. Thanks Steve, but what I have made is nothing on the new version. Obviously BIS has a team of very skilled guys, i'm just one man with a hobby. My system is just a simple crafting type system. The script is very simple and the items defined by an array. The 3D models are reconstructed variations of open source models and textures, I did make a few myself though :) We have about 15-20 3D models. I have lost count now. Making the player able to brag a barrela/stock/receiver and combine them together to form an AKS for instance. Then find loose ammo and combine it with an empty magazine also. It's just all part of my version of DayZ, and it fits very well with the storyline :) The thing with Arma 2 is no matter what you do, someone has already done it in some form. Weapon packs for instance, people like Robert Hammer and Vilas have nailed it, so why reinvent the wheel? Passing anything from sites such as armaholic off as your own, is just wrong though!

    So, some huge progress has been made. The first draft 3D model for our brand new house building system is complete. Gear menu redesigned, new GUI buttons to access building system. Finally, a new crossbow in dayz that actually works, and is to be feared. Craftable arrows added to system. First draft lockbox model created. Wood saw added, cut down trees completely for logs, used in house building. Oh.......and I believe the first truly custom weapon craft system. Weapon attachments include silencers, sights, etc. can be attached to relavent weapon Many weapons craft able from ACTUAL WEAPON COMPONENTS. all new 3D models by myself for all, I think we are up to 13 components now.     Well last night was spent writing some great new parts of the GUI, house building system is now integrated into that, this allows the players to more smoothly operate the GUI and building system without constantly having to open different menus, right click, scroll, or whatever. I was going to post a screeny, but i'll leave that until its more complete and we are near public beta :) Black Bird the answer to your question is yes :)

    check your config.cfg file on the server. Theres a line called required version. Check this is matching or lower than your current beta version on the client.

    Dagwood, we are determined to release it when it's ready. The "house building" is proving quite complex as we wanted to make it simple enough to be fun but hard enough to be challenging, and my weapon crafting system (although it's 99% done) keep throwing up those annoying little issues, like being able craft a weapon with one already equipped lol, but there only minor issues. Public beta release will be soon, we just have to get a move on ;) Not sure what you mean by favors in store though....

    Apolgies for the lack of updates, With 2 kids and what not, life is a little hectic. Massive progress has been made in our weapon and item crafting systems with huge thanks to all the guys who helped out.     Zulcan, please pm me contact details. Many thanka for your offer. SmashT we have notnoticed any performance issues with 30 players on server. We are continuing to test and streamline. Demon, ETA for open.public beta is 2-4 weeks. We are on this every day but this sort of new content takes time. Especially when learning as we go.

    Great progress is being made! Weapon crafting and survival gear crafting systems are largely complete. Just awaiting some new 3D models to be complete. Our new LA dedi box is up and i'm setting that up now. We would love aussie servers, but the funds are not there currently for that.     No offense taken mate. Time frame wish, it hugely depends on how many issues we find with large scale testing, which is going to commence as soon as possible, the next few days for sure. If everything goes well, we are hoping to release in weeks, rather than months. I saw you pop into TS earlier, send me a message on there and join in the convo :)

    My apologies, I perhaps worded that wrong. The files will all be released as soon as the mod is playable. When I said complete I was referring to bugs fixed, features and map additions finished and some textures tided up. Currently I'm releasing at least 1 update a day, and that would get annoying. At the moment I'm not even 100% done on the loot system, and map additions are still being tweaked, We have not even finished the load screen lol. The files will be released, I have no intention of withholding anything. I completely understand your suspicions, and apologise for being unclear. Obviously the proof of the pudding is in the eating but until then please bear with us while we test, finish off and get it out there for you to all play ASAP :)

    Hi guys, Thanks to Steve for starting this thread, my spare time is somewhat limited right now! First of all, the most important answer...Aftermath will be (after some beta testing and anything that rises there is fixed) completely open source. Server and client files will be available on our website and I hope to be able to get it added to dayz commander as soon as we have released. Hopefully you all understand we don't want to release anything until its actually finished or people will just get fed up with updating it every time they want to play! As for a release date, that largely depends on how far we get with beta testing and what issues we come across with full servers I am determined to NOT release this until is it ready, there's nothing worse than playing something that's not quite finished in my opinion. But of course anyone is quite welcome to message me for access to the beta files and update (please ensure you are familiar with operating arma expansions and file merging :)) To answer a few other questions I saw: The mod is based on 1.7.6.1 we may look at an update in the future, but currently this is our preferred code version It is based on the familiar Reality package. FULL server files will be available on final release of version 1.0 We will only ask that the map edits we have created are not changed (just due to Amraks considerable time he invested in them) but obviously people can add to them as much as they want. Current mod size is approx 2.5GB Support will be available from myself and the team over on our team speak channel and website. All details will be posted when I'm not on the iPad and have the TS3 IP I front of me. I welcome and hope you all will join the channel, give opinions on change logs, help out with testing and get involved. We are just trying to create something new and are just making the dayz we want to play. We hope you guys will too! Screenshots will be uploaded in the next 24 hours, ill get Steve to do that for me, apologies for not getting them to you straight away beats, I got caught up testing the new loot structure and road structure in Cherno :) Ill leave it there for now, sorry if any of that was rambling!     How can we host DayZ Origins?

    I would be interested to see if any copyright actually existed or was applied for. Considering vast parts of the mod where created using BIS programs. Legal action would cost a fortune to pursue, and considering the relatively small amount of money created by the hosting of Origins servers, I doubt any action would come to pass. Just my opinion, ofc.

    I mean on the whole it doesnt effect us Hive owners, we can just keep our vanilla loadout, but for pubic hive, it's another story
