Odd that you don't get humanity by killing bandits
sothis replied to oleg86@msn.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm sorry, what? He said, and I quote (duh): At which point did he say anything that you just complained about? Way to go, turning it into a matter of him saying americans are stupid and even more so telling him to watch his mouth. Furthermore, on topic: Killing another human being should never give you a humanity boost. At least I don't see why killing someone else should make you feel much more like a human. I don't support this. -

Some people have issues with reporting bugs in the bug tracker. As such I think the forum is kept so as to not miss important bug reports - Just in case.

Everything after those three words were overkill. I'll betcha everyone knew what being 'in Texas' involved :P

Rocket, where'd the servers go?
sothis replied to Greasymullet's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
"Due to sustained and constant hacking, the central database is being dropped until further notice. You will not be able to connect." -Rocket / dayzdevteam twitter message. -
I don't assume they're stressed out (although I might have had to chose another word than 'stress', as the word used was actually pressure.), I KNOW they are. I know this because Rocket has said so himself. Him being at least one of the channels to get this information from, I believe thats the truth of it. I'm not saying pressure generally is bad, because hell no, it's good for the mind and soul, but too much of and you'll start seeing devastating effects. And thus far it's only been increasing. But like I said, it's only my view of it, and I sure as hell don't mean to say that it all turns to shit because they're under heavy pressure, but the escalation of drama is just maddening, even for a simpleton like myself enjoying the mod.

I'm fine with you not agreeing with me. In fact I don't expect anyone to agree with me. All I know is that we ALL want an end-product that we can enjoy, but so far it's been such a bumpy ride, that I don't honestly believe Rocket or any other DayZ member hasn't had the thought of restricting it as my OP suggests cross their mind. Either way, I made the thread, and as long as it's here, I'd like to discuss it, in case others feel the same way. I get that. But I'm not talking about the users, but the devs them selves. Did he intend to stress himself or his staff out? Did he intend to go ahead and develop what is seemingly a halfway-milestone mark to insanity? Did he intend for hackers to have a free playground? Fuck no.

.. Shut down all public access to DayZ development. Possibly just let the public have the current builds along with its hive. I hate to say this but honestly, I believe the only right thing to do at this point is to shut the project down for the public, set up an alpha/beta invitation application form, let them sign an NDA (if that is even legally possible as it's based off of BI's title), and then perform the stresstests like so. Come to think of it, it would quite possibly be much more of a pain in the ass to do, than to just leave it in the public, but my opinion is based off the obvious stress the DayZ staff is getting. Apart from the human side of it, of which concerns the fact that they get emotionally smashed, there is also the end-user side of it: The fact that their work might not be as good and solid as they'd want it to be, because the stress tears them into pieces. I don't know, I just made this thread because it pains me to see people be so stressed out by a fucking mod-turned-popular. Whatever. For what it's worth, I just hope everything turns out OK with no one mentally bruised, after this bullshit ride with ungrateful cunts - This includes the hackers with delusions of grandeur - fucking it up for those that actually work hard to make this shit function the way they intended. Good day to you all.

Bump. Hoping someone will look in to this.

I just stumbled upon this server, EU 65 "Berezino Bandits" server, having 1 out of 1 player online (whom is SpA Scouse) I'm not one to judge whether he is abusing, but I sure as hell don't appreciate it if that is what this is. Also RU77 has a very low player count; 5. Look into this if you would. Thanks

Infiltrating the survivors - And succeeding.

Well the only thing that made me feel bad - MOMENTARILY - was that I didn't get that much loot out of them in the end. Everything leading up to the final kill was a gas though! They made the mistake of thinking nobody would be out there where they were fooling around. Oh how wrong they were. :) -
Hi. Since we're all sharing our bandit stories I might aswell share mine which I had just last night. Before I start explaining the actual situation, a little background story to help explain my then present state of mind. Cut me some slack and read the wall of text. It will be worth it; especially if you are a bandit seeking inspiration on how to screw stuff up for survivors. Last night me and 2 friends spent a good 3 hours trying to find eachother, with intermittent stops on our way to our meeting-spot, to find gear to help us survive the run. After we found eachother, we made our way to some deer stands, got some awesome gear; me an M16A4 with 4 mags plus two frag grenades, the guy with a map an aks-74u - however only with one clip, and the last one a simple winchester but with lots of ammo. Honestly, we were sure we had the perfect setup to get on our way to our next destination: A barn most likely full of canned foods, of which we were in desperate need of. We ran past the town in a wide arch to get to the barn over yonder, but in my mates blissful ignorance, he forgot to mash his X button after having stepped over a fence. As such we got 20+ zombies after us. My controls bugged and as a result of this I couldn't switch weapons or do much of anything. Needless to say, we died. I was furious. Furious beyond anything else. But we thought 'screw it, it's part of the game' And thus my walz of evil was apparent. The anecdote below is my story. __________INFILTRATING SURVIVORS IS YUMMY__________ Both my friends logged off but after I had watched a movie I had gotten to my senses again. I logged back in and started looking for gear. I found some decent guns fairly quickly. A remington (with 5 'clips' of 8rnd slugs) and a revolver. The food was scarce though for some reason, and so was my water supply. I started seeking out survivors to see if I could maybe buy some off them. I failed at finding anyone for a good long while. I made my way to mogilevka in all this time, and found one can of beans, and one pepsi. I was fit to run for a little longer. Suddenly I spot a moving flare in the direction of castle Zub. I made my evil face and started following it. At a safe distance of course. I come closer and closer and by the time I reach the moving flare, I am a good 30 meters from castle Zub's walls. There were one guy using the flare, but 5 others were with him. 6 in all. One of them was standing still by a tree, and he kept standing there after the 5 others moved into the castle. I thought I might want to take the chance and kill him but first I wanted to loot from his bag without him knowing as he seemed AFK. Sure enough I enter his Alice Pack, and to my surprise an M9 SD with 5 clips. was there. I IMMEDIATELY switched my revolver with the M9 SD and before the guy even realized it, I had put 3 bullets in his head. He was dead. At this point I wanted to thoroughly screw it up for the others. As it turned out, my outfit was the same as the guy I just shot so I knew I could pass off as him if I went in. I took his alice pack to help the disguise as much as possible without ruining my weapon setup. I went inside the castle walls. At this point I was sort of panicking. You must understand, I didn't know whether they were on voice comms, or if they were just randoms joining together, so I figured my chances were slim that I would succeed in my devious plan. I get inside the tallest part of the castle and surely up top there are 5 guys looking around. I tried my best not to shake, so nervous I was. I came up and they look at me, then turn around again as if they didn't spot the difference between me and the other guy I just killed. They start moving down again, and I decided to follow them. One guy was a little slow, but at all times I wanted to be the last man to go, so I didn't have them pointing their guns at my back. I could then see them moving in the woods below, and then the guy I was waiting for started to move as well. Halfway down the stairs I put 3 bullets in his head. I quickly look at his backpack to see if there is something useful, and to my immediate surprise: NVG! I was exstatic and really felt the evil, devious plan of mine take even more of a grand form. 2 down. 4 to go. Again I hoped they didn't notice. I arrived and they were cooking meat over a fire. This is where it started to get really fun. It was PITCH black, at least on my screen, so I assumed it was on theirs as well. I crouch down at the fire, acting like I'm waiting for them to finish. After the guy had cooked some meat, he went to another guys backpack, probably to either pick up raw meat or deposit the cooked stuff. I put out the fire while everyone is looking away and put on my NVG's. I run a little further away. I kill the two fiddling with backpacks instantly but at a slight distance, which resulted in my having to use 2 full clips in quick succession. The remaining two started firing away with their winchesters and lee enfield I think it was, but they clearly didn't know where I was. I decided I'd finish the last two, put them out of their misery, so to speak. I take my remington, I move closer in prone position; and just when they start moving down the hill (in other words: directly towards me) I light the flashlight on my remington, and rip them apart before they even realize I was there. All in all, what I got from this was some food and water, an alice pack, an M9 SD with barely any ammo left, NVG's, a lee enfield in place of my remington, and 6 murders. I successfully infiltrated a pack of survivors, and made their evening a whole lot worse than mine started out to be. I hope you enjoyed the wall of text, because I enjoyed the session. Oh the sweet murderous me. TL;DR: READ IT, IT'S WORTH IT, DAMN YOU!
