hey there, every time i go to run arma2/arma2OA/dayz my game crashes and a message says "bad serial number given in setup" my games up to date, i bought my games over steam. i did not try to download any "hacks" so my key can't be stolen... HELP PLEASE! I have tried this: delete games cache using steam, then verified integrity of game cache with steam. delete games manually from Cdrive then with steam, reinstall using steam. running steam as administrator validated files and running arma 2 first then arrowhead restarting my computer/ router

take out all cords and set the computer on a table or something that will not make static electricity(do not use carpet) DO NOT USE A MAGNETIC SCREW DRIVER touch the case to get rid of any static electricity use a screwdriver/undo the easybolt. once you have done this you can use a few things to clean the insides. can compressed air, small paintbrush, cotton swabs(not cotton ball) or any static cloth. Just to name a few. clean the insides(cords, fans, etc) with your choice(s) put the case back on, put cords in and restart the computer.

there is a few things that make you lag 1 computer: check with "can i run it" and see where your computer sits. http://www.systemreq...ntslab.com/cyri cleaning the computer fan(s) from dust helps too. 2 internet speed: ring your internet provider/update anything related to modem. do a speed test here: http://www.speedtest.net/ 3 unused programs in the background like downloads/uploads, web browsers and other programs like skype and itunes 4 hackers in the game, try staying away from public servers and switch to private with active mods, even try whitelisted servers 5 talking over side chat (voice). some private/whitelisted servers take global/sidechat off so you can't voice talk. some even have rules to only type. 6 keep all drivers up to date 7 defragment your harddrive(s) 8 disable unnessesary drivers and windows services 9 turn down audio quality in-game or disable audio 10 disable antialias and anisotropic filtering 11 lower your resolution 12 lower texture resolution 13 get a better cooler and overclock your system start to notice these things and you might find out what is making you lag... GL fixing it!

arma 2 bad serial number given in setup?
Pixelwarrior replied to Pixelwarrior's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
UPDATE: My fix was deleting everything in my steam folder but "steamapps" and "steam.exe" then clicked steam.exe and redownloaded my steam folder. the regedit fixes did not work for me! -
in the end its up to you, i would because arma2 combines operation its only 15 dollars at 50% off. so close to dayz standalone but arma2 /arma2 OA are good games also.

Dean “Rocket” Hall has been really pushing to get the standalone of DayZ out before the end of 2012. It was a serious attempt by the design team to get the game out there before all those other zombie apocalypse clones came flooding onto the market. Well, unfortunately, DayZ as a standalone has a little too much on the plate to hit that 2012 deadline. Co-Optimus spotted the tumblr post by Hall, as well as an outline for all the stuff that's being tweaked, re-worked and re-designed for the standalone... 'We are still working towards a target for an initial foundation before the end of the year, but we will slip this date if needed. We will not compromise the project for the short-term gain of meeting this date,' In many ways, once this phase is completed — one could effectively say that DayZ is running on a new version of the engine. While the graphics may look the same (for now), under the hood so much is being completely rewritten. Graphics were never an issue, not for me anyway. The Arma II engine's environmental visuals are already borderline photorealistic depending on your graphics card. But it's not just standard under-the-hood mechanics that they're re-working for the standalone. Check out the checklist of changes inbound for DayZ below. 1). Server specific settings for graphics and gameplay. 2). Release thorough Steam and will contain many of Steam’s key online features 3). A smooth launch of the game, so don’t worry about the usual problems many online games face during release time. 4). Reworked controls will help players engage the environment more realistically. 5). Smoother character model animations that will give better and quicker feedback to players. 6). A wide variety of clothing options for your characters to choose from (hats, coats, pants, shoes, etc.) 7). Weapons and items will be highly customizable due to the new game engine mechanics. 8). Servers will be able to control character actions, according to player client requests. 9). Overall map design will be improved, all with new objects, buildings, areas to explore, and fixing game glitches. 10). UI with vastly improved functionality and simplicity. Those are all great things. I can't wait to see how they work in the final version. But there is no way in a blue moon around Saturn that they're going to finish implementing all those features before December is out. Just saying. Still, an early 2013 release isn't bad and I'll definitely be one of the first in line to lay down some cash for the standalone of DayZ.

hey there! someone said this and it got me thinking. "If it was coming in the next week there would be some kind of info on Steam and probably from the developers too" is this true? if dayzSA was coming out this month there would be news on steam? but theres nothing. in the dayz confirmed thread,in "facts" they said it was coming out in December. so there are 9 more days it could be released. i hope they did not lie to us and push it back into 2013.
