Real...I mean, REAL heli crash sites for SA
WiFiN replied to thodouras95's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I vote up for that. I don't think "random loot" is a good idea, but the whole concept is juicy. especially the "needs help" part. Also: Some of the helicopter parts should be salvageable. It can catch fire and explode some time later Smoke and impact noise should attract zombies. mounted weapons should have a chance to be still usable P.S. Reorganize your post using bullets like I did. It will make reading easier. -
Don't even make third-person an option for DayZ standalone

I tried to collect all "fix third person" ideas here. If TPcamera doesn't provide any exploits in any way I'm okay with that. -
Zombie sounds are okay, but distant gunshot sounds are poor, there are Arma2 addons that fix it, but SA should have it at the start.

I'd rather have a lorry with a cargo compartment. Much more useful and would actually fit into russian (fuck details) coastal scenery

it's not worse. May modern games have FPV - all competitive ones especially. Left 4 Dead, Planetside2, Counter Strike:GO, Crysis, Battlefield (yeah), and don't fucking try to bend on the "DayZ is not FPS" - it is completely OFF-subject. No one's complaining about lack of peripheral vision in those games, no matter it wouldn't be less usefull there. But no one will tolerate TPV exploits in those games, so why the hell they are complaining here? the problem with Arma 2 FPV is that FOV and bobbing settings should be more accessible as the majority is too lazy to search and would rather complain. Also you can get stuck in the doorways and other narrow places and people feel more cofortable when they can see what jams them. So instead of yelling to keep TPV people should push on fixing FPV as it would actually fix everything. P.S. And yeah, apart from things listed above FPV in Arma2 is actually -better- as it allows you to see your whole body and look around independently from the direction you're moving. -
imagine this asshole running around you and yelling like that as he understands that he can evade zombies easily and youcan't.

As it was said over 9000 before it's not about using TP to shoot, it's about exploiting it to look far over fences, around the corners, off the ledges. In this game staying hidden and seeing your enemy before he sees you is crucial and TP ruins this mechanic remorselessly. So the only way is either to to limit TP so it doesn't provide any exploits, or to fix FP so it has decent FOV and nonirritating headbobbing and keep tp only for the character menu or the campfire.. -

That's exactly the way I want to see crafting. Creating something useful out of shits and sticks. Exactly! I even spent about an hour playing games in Assassin's Creed III no matter they were singleplayer. If cooking will take time, spending it playing guitar, singing along (lol, yeah like every time we go to the LZ in a chinook in Arma2) or playing chess would be awesome. By the way, guitar can be made the way to was done in Spacestation 13 where notes were read from a txt file on your PC and played then as a tune - this way we'll heve different tunes all the time. -
There is one flaw - if i got it right, the car migrates from server to server with you. Then the problem is we'll have servers crowded with cars and servers completely stripped from them. In my book it will only add to vehicle hoarding which I already hate. So as far as it stays this way I don't like it at all. The idea of migrating from map to map using a car is good, but from one virtually equal server to another? No.

funny how people say "no way, I want to play in third person because first person in this game makes me motion-sick" Maybe fix first person instead, huh? You people are just stuck in old ways. It's like you were playing with unlimited ammo because of database issues and now when it gets fixed you start crying about it how bad will it be to play with limited ammo. -

Last post before today was in october... People, stop necroing such threads. Your butthurt is not going to make this game any better. If you can't use cover, then don't go to big cities at night: lots of loot = lots of hunters who like shooting bambies.
-
Oh look! Another butthurt thread! Anyway. Rocket said - "they do give unfair advantage, but no one says you're playing a fair game" and I totally agree with him. But I agree that they should be rare and guzzle batteries. I can't say they are very common now either - I found a sniper near cherno with those and got attacked by two who were trying to get my car. didn't help them when I threw a flare right into them and shot them both by using trees and my own car as cover.
-
I know that fell, bro.
-
No. Totally against it. As it was said before - if you die, you are completely new person. People killing eachother just for the sake of revenge just out of magical knowledge who killed them only provokes more deathmatch.

Is melee combat being worked on for the Stand Alone?
WiFiN replied to Coyster's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Check this thread. It is close to melee and might bring another good mechanic to the game, -
I'd like to have a lot of improvised stuff. Like a tripflare out of fireworks, cord and a lighter. A l4D-style pipe bomb out of a grenade, some wires and a fan horn. A zombie-slasher out of lawn trimmer and a circular saw blade (though this might be a bit over the edge). Yeah, suppressors made out of plastic bottles and duct tape are good too,
-
I think that both sytems should work as we have one already - you can judge how much time had passed since they left by the look of the pit, but if you "inspect" it you get more precise and detailed info like how much time did they spend here and when did they leave based on your skill (we'll have skills, so this might be reasonable).
-
Well you would if someone good dies. It's quite immersive and easy to implement (just several additional lines of code to "hide body" function and one animation). Also it fixes the issue I highlighted. And yeah, carrying wounded incapacitated or dead ones is a must have for such game.

nigga u b trollin [ No derogative racial slurs please. No matter how harmless it may seem. This is not the Xbox community - 4L4N ] seriously, how do you manage to leave all valid points and twist everything else? -
you can words speak in the internets by just mashing them on a keyboard Disregard that, we need diversity. Campfire: +gives warmth +cheap fuel +can cook multiple items simultaneously -compromises stealth -takes time to arrange -longer cooking time Camping stove: +compact and stealthy +faster cooking +quick deployment -reuires fuel -doesn't give warmth -cooking one item at a time
-
do you realize how much work has to be done for that? All those animations, behavior scripts and stuff. The only instance I see is some kind of a tutorial for the beginners - you start at day zero, witness the panic and hell breaking loose and your goal is to escape by performing simple tasks (climbing\picklocking, fighting\sneakink past zombies, fixing car, applying first aid) - this way the player will learn the basics.
-
FYI, people: stop using this dumb "and then hackers will" arguement. They can just spawn a bunch of weapons - remove them from the game too? Great idea. Anything that makes you think twice before killing something is good and skills can work perfectly in this case. If you just read a book, you wont master something the second you've read it, but you can perfor the action while using the book as a manual. I won't become a gunsmith the second I've read a book, but I sure will be able to disassemble and clean M4 while using the book as a referrence and manual. So reading a book can help you aquire some basic skills. And of course you should be able to have a limited amount of skills. A lone wolf doesn't need to know how to drive all the vehicles, craft everything, cook everything and be a pro surgeon at the same time. Being limited in skills is a price you pay for depending only on yourself.

Yeah. Spade to bury someone is quite fair. It should also take about a minute to bury someone as people mostly use it to grief others - shoot someone, run up, check for loot, hide the body with everything else in a bit of a second, run away before anyone else can do something.
